You can do quests and talk to both of them but at some point you have to choose between helping the Legion capture Windhelm or helping the Stormcloaks capture Solitude.

Dammit, thanks for the answer. How far in is the choice?

It's really up to you. This game is so massive, you can probably play for hundreds of hours without resolving the Civil War. There are an infinite number of smaller quests and all the big faction questlines seem to be really well written

Cabbage Patch Kids.  Yeah, that makes sense.  I always thought of them as bug-eyed onionheads.

At any rate, I've had Skyrim for days now.  Alas, it's a pre-load and won't unlock for another 8.33 hours.

I'm usually a mage first...though decided months ago to play archer first.  Now though at the last moment doubt creeps in!

For half of the world, it's not available until tomorrow. Given what seems to be a continuation of the ebb of off-season readership in the Bioware forums that I visit, I'm wondering how much crossover there is. The Bethesda forums seem very busy by comparison.

It's driving me nuts. Just thinking about how I'll be drifted sweetly into this beautiful fantasy world with all the little details that makes it seem like a legendary tale. Reminds of when I first saw LOTR.

I want it now! /crying into pillow

Just thought I'd quote the final line from PC Gamer's Review (available online)

"While everyone else is faffing around with how to control and restrict the player, Bethesda just put a ****ing country in a box. It’s the best open world game I’ve ever played, the most liberating RPG I’ve ever played, and one of my favourite places in this or any other world.

In case I’m not getting it across, this is a thumbs-up."

I know what you mean. I had this Dunmer spellsword all planned out... and now bam, I have an irresistible urge to go pure mage (which I don't believe I've ever done as in my first playthrough of an RPG, by the way).

How much does your own country cost?

Likewise. It's so easy to say "Okay, I'll play something other than a Wizard"....until videos/screenshots of how awesome the magic system is begin pouring in.

At this point, I really do have half a mind to give up my Dark Elf ranger for another Dark Elf Wizard. :pinched:

Wow, the reception is even greater than I'd anticipated. Sounds like Bethesda has completely and utterly outdone themselves in every way.

All of the reviews mention bugs, but I'm glad they didn't harp on them - all TES games have these kinds of bugs, and I suspect a lot of them will be patched soon enough anyway.

This sounds like a benchmark game in not just the RPG genre, but perhaps in gaming period. I'm looking forward to it.

TOMORROW.

The verdict is in: Master difficulty = Way More XP Than Adept!!!!

I just got a level, which stat should I raise? What does each do and by how much?

Dark Elf female type. Dual Wielding right now, I do not think H2H = Two-Handed skill like I saw someone say somewhere.

Dual Wield = 1 Handed skill and I gained 5 levels in it. And I am not through the caves!

I am posting from phone, so uploading screenshots will have to wait. There's no manual with the digital download... :(. Though it doesn't tell you anything that isn't under Help, found leaked scans.

LOL... like MW and Oblivion, I could stay "living" in that world for some 1,000 hours before even think of starting the main quest.  And since reviews says it has not the same recycled areas/caves like Oblivion did, it will prolly be a lot less boring too.

And for the quote Dusk Warden mentioned, thanks for that!

Does anyone else think that the game runs.... quite good?

I mean, on my ancient rig(according to todays standards) it runs on steady 35-30 FPS, only some minor hitchups in the caves with all the dust and lighting effect.

you might want to consider speccing into the dual daggers backstab perks - the result is up to something like 3,000% damage x 2 weapons if you execute a dual wield power attack when backstabbing from sneak, which can be poisoned and/or enchanted for increased base damage.

1H: Armsman (5 ranks), Armsman, Dual Flurry, Dual Savagery, Savage Strike, Paralyzing Strike

Sneak: Backstab, Assassin's Blade,
