The countdown continues. I'm on a caffeine-free diet, yet I have a Mountain Dew standing by for when I play the game.

I've eaten some hot wings, and will be chowing on some dollar menu sandwiches later for sustenance.

Bathroom is two doors down from my bedroom.

I HAVE PLANNED FOR THIS.

I usually eat pretty healthy. Fresh fruit and vegetables and lean cuts of meat. Right now my refrigerator is full of Mountain Dew, my cupboards are brimming with junk food and my local pizza parlor is on speed dial. I fully expect my body to be in some sort of shock come Monday.

I am on Master right now and after leaving the caverns, enemies got a huge ass boost. I have had to run away from all humans that were hostile.

That doesn't sound fun. I am all about the hard difficulty (all games I play first I play on the hardest setting, within reason).

A fun "hard" setting is mass effect 2 on insanity.

A not fun "hard" setting is nightmare for da2.

I'll probably just notch up the diff plus 1

I think that might be exactly why it was hacked - it's opportune timing on the hackers' part. With so many people putting down their CC numbers for Skyrim, it would be a gold mine if someone could make their way into the user database right now.

Oh well, one hour before this game finally unlocks, I realise I've been invited to the SWTOR beta. Live's strange, sometimes...

Well, THB, sorry, BioWare, but this has to wait for now.

the creepy facial zoom in during dialogue , and damn oblivion gates

All gone.

Even if it wasn't the faces look A LOT better. But yeah I'm glad the zoom in is gone and we can just walk away from a conversation anytime we feel like it from what I could see.

Ah, that reminds me - the Dunmer I've seen in Skyrim screenshots and videos look a lot more like the ones from Morrowind. I thought that was a nice touch, in addition to just making all of the characters' faces look less hideous than Oblivion's in general.

Okay, I never played Elder Scrolls IV, so can someone explain to me why I wouldn't want to make a heavily armored spellcaster?

In the previous game, spell effectiveness (and damage, etc.) was significantly reduced by wearing armor.

In Skyrim, it seems that it only affects magicka regeneration rate, which can be remedied by perks, enchanted items, etc., so the main reason not to wear armor would be role-playing.

Also, as a pure mage, you get some really powerful warding spells, etc., so you can focus all your perks on magic related stuff instead of the armor perk trees.

But there's nothing wrong with playing a battle-mage / spellsword type character either.

I'v heard good things of Skyrim so far (22 mins to unlock...)

But i've also heard that the UI is sooooo very consolized that its terrible for PC's Mouse and keyboard.

Why oh why do developers do this ffs.

Atleast Bioware make PC specific UI's (even if ME2 sucked on mouse support double clicking etc).

Skyrim has no classes so you can define your own character. That was called a sorcerer in Oblivion. It might lower your magicka regeneration a bit but if you get high skill/focus in on heavy armor and magic, I don't see why you couldn't.

I've always made "do-it-all" (or "do-most-things", rather) characters in TES games - you can make a heavily armored warrior if you wish and still use magic, but it'll mostly be support magic like Restoration (with maybe a little Destruction thrown in for good measure).

That'll be the route I go for Skyrim, as well - though Dragon Shouts ought to make things even more interesting, especially in combination with Destruction spells. I might even end up being a bit overpowered after a while.

@siven80: Where u hear that from?

The only thing I think a controller would help me with is playing in Third Person. It's still not as reliable as it should be. Oh wait, there is the fact that with mouse and keyboard, in some menus you have to click on certain things and can't solely use WSAD.

I am also using my laptop's mousepad and that always makes thinga more difficult. But other than that, it isn't any different from The Witcher 2.
