  Really.

I can completely  understand the gripes.  An RPG's UI is not some trivial thing.    It's the steering wheel, gas  and brake pedal of a game.   Imagine buying a Ferrari.   A Beautiful, powerful, comfortable  driving experience.  Does zero-60 in 3 seconds.  It's Heaven on wheels.   Now imagine you can't move the steering wheel; and  the gas pedal doesn't accelerate the car, and the brakes don't work.  And to shift gears, you have to press 3 buttons,  step on the clutch then move the stick to just the right place.

I don't know about you, but after discovering all that, I'd be taking my new Ferrari back to the dealer and buying a Lamborghini instead.

Some people find the fun in complaining.  Honestly the gripes I'm hearing is just silly.  I won't be surprised if we start getting metacritic reviews giving it a 0 because the textures aren't perfect or the UI doesn't read my mind.

Anyway its only 7 Pm here and to avoid spoilers I shall stay away from this thread after this post.

A completely baseless statement, since  as of right now, 90% of Skyrim puchasers do not have the game yet.  In fact, I believe there's 3 whole timezones here in the US where the game hasn't unlocked

All of the US and Canada will unlock at the same time (in a little under 3 hours from now).

Aah, so we go from Plenty!  to "some".

Never mind the fact that even a DEVELOPER has shown up to the Bethesda forums to point out that keymapping is bugged and that they're working on a fix.

All I can say is this: PC gamers get stuck with lame UI's all the time due to lazy porting. After a while the grievance builds up like a festering sore spot on yer ass, and then the next big multiplatform game that had a 100 million dollar budget comes out with a consolized UI. PC gamers gonna vent.

I say this not experiencing Skyrim's UI though. Maybe they are butt hurt.

I think it's the later. To be honest, it's not great, either, and really not optimized for a PC (like usually these days). But it you could handle, say, the Pip Boy in the Fallout games, you are fine here as well.

That said, looks nice, even though on ultra (it's really not that demanding, runs fine on my rather ancient machine that barely matches the recommended specs) it's a far cry from TW2's graphic. But it's lovely crafted, and the world feels quite alive.
Haven't gotten that far (in fact did the escape twice, because my character ended up looking rather stupid, so I had to restart just for that -.-), just ended up in Rivenwood. Ah well, sleep time for now.

I'm going to be playing it on pc....I don't get hung up over textures but different people want and expect different things. I think the game looks beautiful, from what I've seen from demos and gameplay in 1080p.

I've stayed spoiler free for the most part up to this point. Going into the game intro / character creation screen blind . I allowed myself one brief glimpse of the College of Winterhold...its different from what I expected, but spectacular.

I'm not.  As I don't have the game yet and thus cannot make such a judgement call either way  (and neither can you).  But I know legitimate backlash to faulty design when I see it.  Pretending it's not there  (what you're doing) is dishonest.  And does nothing in the way of getting developers to act.

Isn't it a massive improvement from Oblivion's menus, however?

I enjoyed the hell out of the game, but I spent a great deal of time scrolling through lists of hundreds of items.

Game is awesome, UI is crap.

Keynapping glitched? No way, I just switched the two mouse buttons to correspond with the appropriate hand. I don't think of M1 as Dominant Hand and M2 as non-dominant as it is initially set up.

The buttons work at the same frequency. Though the Dual Heavy Attack seems bugged, sometimes it will execute and other times it will not.


Yay! Just reached level 3. Now I have a perk point I don't want to use just yet, still need to figure out if I want Two-Handed or One-Handed proficiency. And Heavy Armor is taking too long to level up.
