Graphics wise, on ultra, the world gfx are nice, probably better than TW2. But the character graphics aren't. And the animations are rather stilted too.
The UI while bad, is workable and hasnt ruined the game.....yet.

I know the PC version of Morrowind beat out the Xbox version by a longshot (though I've never played the PC version of Oblivion).

People will complain about anything. I think that the UI complaint is genuine but not buying Skyrim because of it is stupid. Besides, we will get mods. Remember the horrendus UI in Oblivion? Fixed with mods.
How long did that take? Just wondering if I should put off my Skyrim run here.

The graphics are ok I never really expected much when I first saw the game the UI is a hassle. Honestly I have more trouble with this UI than the Witcher 2 UI which honestly wasn't great but at least I could manage. Unfotunately I don't have much time to play the game so all I can do is work and play Gemini Rue till I get out!

I'm surprised Bethesda phoned in the PC version - don't they typically invest more effort into the PC versions of their games than the console versions?
Heh have you seen Rage? Id of all studios I find more surprising.

I just hope the claims that you can't scroll through the bajillion different menus with the mouse wheel are false. or a rare bug or something. Because I can't even imagine the tedium if it's true.
So far i have been able to scroll with mouse wheel everywhere i believe i should be able to.
I have only played about an hours worth though, as i had to help my brother out when he found out hes got into the SWTOR beta tonight and i havent

I just found some human enemies I could kill, that tells me they did a good job with the scaling this time around.

Keynapping glitched? No way, I just switched the two mouse buttons to correspond with the appropriate hand. I don't think of M1 as Dominant Hand and M2 as non-dominant as it is initially set up.
The buttons work at the same frequency. Though the Dual Heavy Attack seems bugged, sometimes it will execute and other times it will not.
Yay! Just reached level 3. Now I have a perk point I don't want to use just yet, still need to figure out if I want Two-Handed or One-Handed proficiency. And Heavy Armor is taking too long to level up.
Now from what I've seen you can save your perk pts and use them later. That goes for the Dragon souls as well. And with that I'm out of here.
Have fun with the game folks and maybe I'll be back in here maybe not.<LOL> Nice neeting you all and hopefully we'll chat more soon

On the issue of the UI, is it bad for just PCs or is it bad for us console users too?

I still have to wait for the UPS man to show up tomorrow...
Ditto.
Though I did go check out the PC technical section of Bethesda forums for Skyrim out of curiosity. While that killed the cat (curiosity), I still live. However I am now worried that I will get freeze ups, memory leaks and BSOD errors, due to reading the threads. It might all work fine but I am worried. The UI issue is simple enough to work around and mods will appear very fast to have it the way you like sooner or later. I am also curious about this issue noticed on that section of people saying only uses a single CPU core.
I guess I will find out tomorrow if game arrives, just should of avoided the technical PC section of their forums so I wouldn't be so worried atm. Curiosity has a price to pay it seems even if I am no cat and it won't kill me (I do get the irony regarding my BSN avatar though).

Well, first Bethesda has to release the Creation Kit. And second, (and I'm by no means super knowledgeable on this) its possible that the UI might be hard to mod depending on what kind of middleware Bethesda used in making it. So it might be end up being very hard to mod, potentially.

Is the attention to detail in the game world really as good as advertised?
Well, depends.
Graphically speaking, for a Console, Yes.
For a PC, Eh.... No.
For the Detail to the world Itself however, is even better.
Even is handcrafted with Love and detail, everybody has stories to share, the world feels so alive...
it's amazing.
Damn those UI issues.
I don't quite understand. You have been playing Skyrim on both Xbox and PC already?
No.
i played on the 360 version cause i couldn't find the PC version early, but i have seen SEVERAL PC images, and... ugh... Go here and see for yourself.
As for the UI, it's, from what i understand, EXACTLY the same as consoles - Except that Such UI is absolute **** on Keyboard and Mouse.
That, and unability to Favorite Items, No Key Binding, No Way to use the Mouse scroll to go through the Inventory....
That's what i've heard, i'm a few hours away from finding out, but if they're true, then(i can't believe what i'm saying) i'll stick to the Console version until the Mods(or perhaps a patch) fix this.

Hmm, I'm wondering if that person's PC simply isn't up to par, or if there settings aren't optimized - because the screenshots in this thread look much better.

According to the rest of the thread once read it the initial issue the few people in the thread were having got fixed including the OP's problem regarding a few bad textures on his PC. It is the individual users problems given the fact solutions have been posted in the thread and those people most of them those solutions worked.

You are right it is the individual people, others have suggested ideas to resolve it and in most cases of those people. Their issues with textures did get fixed by following solutions asked of them to do.
Tbh when looks this good, I have bugger all to complain about regarding graphics if looks this amazing imho.
