my Dunmer Warlock Assassin trying to break the ice
Played for about 5 hours, so far the only town I've seen is Falkreath. Haven't fought any dragons yet or learned any dragon shouts. I feel like I've only completed about 1% of the game. Beside the tutorial I have only completed one very minor quest so far although I've collected a few dozen new quests. Just started the quest described by one of the journalists about solving a girl's murder.
The quests and characters I've encountered so far all feel like they have a lot more life to them. I even noticed one bandit that I sneaked up on was singing a song to himself. The songs sung by various bards sing are also very well executed.
Really loving the UI except for one problem. I can't take books. I can read them but I'm not able to add them to my inventory, which is kind of a drag because I like to collect them. Other than that, it is much more convenient than Oblivion's UI.
I don't play with keyboard, rather I use NumPad and trackball mouse. I had no problems with mouse sensitivity.
The game looks absolutely stunning projected to about 8 ft x 14 ft with 1080p projector. The textures look much better than Fallout 3 and Oblivion.and unless you stick your nose into a wall or something, I don't get what people complained about. It certainly looks many times better than the 360 version I played on Tuesday.
I haven't checked with FRAPS but the game runs very smooth, I'm guessing about 40-60 fps at 1920x1080, 8xAA and the rest of the settings maxed including 16xAF. Playing on a laptop with 1GB AMD 5830m.
