I'm loving every second.

Finally have a better feel for the UI. Just leveled for the first time and really focused on my magicka choosing magicka and then Novice Destruction Spells at 50% Magicka in the Destruction tree.

It just keeps getting better and better. Headed north...going to try and find the Dark Brotherhood soon.

Ha same thing well I robbed pretty much everyone in the first town I can't help my Mage is a kleptomaniac.

Noob question...whenever I try to equip a spell Resoration always is equip even if I try adding something like Spark, Flame etc to both hands or ones it just won't unequip. Am I doing it wrong and how can I turn off Vsync? I hear that can help with speeding up the mouse when looking around.

Ok officially got it to work (had some problem with the start up but its working now)
It doesn't look as good as the screenshots and videos but thats because my computer can do mostly medium at best with this game.

Just left the cave after the tutorial (wont be an ass and spoil it) and the only reason I'm not in there playing now is because VGA is fixing to play and I love their streams.

Went Argonian. Dark brown skin with spikes all over my head. Even took the time to pick an interesting name (not sure if its authentic Argonian)
The melee combat is hard to get into to be honest. I wanted to enjoy it but I really can't tell if I'm connecting half the time. Then I find a big ass 2handed sword and do a brillian finishing move on someone.
Comparing this to the Oblivions tutorial I'm pumped. Lets be honest Oblivion started slow.

Also the UI issue is there for me.
But its not bugging me as much as it should.
I find using the ASDW buttons instead of the mouse works just fine.
Though it was terrible in the character creation.

Ok, I've just done the tutorial and gotten up to Riverwood.
Here's my lovely Dunmer Assassin:
Image IPB
So far I've managed to find her a bow, some arrows(steel and iron), an iron sword, two iron daggers(for dual wielding),iron helmet, gauntlets and boots. Have to find an iron cuirass now.
I was quite impressed with what I've seen so far, menu was a bit confusing but I got used to it, landscape is gorgeous(in particular the 3D map) and my computer can handle it on max settings

I'm so glad that you can move the camera around your character and them not moving with it like in past games. I hate it when I tried to look at the front of my char and he'd move along with it so I'm stuck on his back no matter what I do.

In the INI (SkyrimPrefs) set iPresentInterval=0 and bMouseAcceleration=0.  Makes a huge difference (for me at least).  I have no lag or sluggish mouse movement at all.

You could do it in Oblivion and Morrowind too, Hold down F and move the mouse left and right.

Fer real? Because I am in the same boat in wishing you could do that.

I just learned the first word, but of course you haven't killed a dragon yet so you can't use the shout. I hope I run into a dragon soon.

Oh yeah I forgot about that.  Though that was kind of a pain too.

Many thanks! Why something like this isn't an option in the game is beyond me. Just got to Bleak Falls Sanctum and have no idea how to zoom or rotate the claw had to use a controller that's kind of frustrating.

Look at Skyrim at the top. Portal 2 was the last game I remember at 100k+

Also saw this on Skyrim's forums.

Already people are starting to post videos of Skyrim. I have Oblivion but never finished it b/c I started losing interest. I guess I shouldn't have played Fallout 3 before playing Oblivion. Can't wait till Fallout 4 comes out. It's going to use the same engine that Skyrim is using.

Well I just learnt my lesson the hard way. Just for kicks I killed a chicken in Riverwood and all of a sudden the whole town turns against me:crying:

LOL I'm watching Fraser kill everyone in Riverwood right now.  Now he's complaining that the unkillable guy that was with you in the tutorial is trying to kill him. LMAO
He's ignoring quests and just killing everyone he meets.  Not the way I'd play but entertaining to watch.

(Got Skyrim for 360.I have a 720p hdtv.)
I just played 3 hrs and I'm kinda disappointed.Skyrim has Fallout 3 written all over it.My eyes hurt because of the graphics.I wasn't even focusing my eyes too much, so that's not the culprit.I had to turn the brightness all the way up on the system settings because it was too dark.(Where's our torches yo?)
Right after I crossed the bridge out of Riverwood, birds flew overhead and I ran into a glitch already where a tree was making loud bird rustling noises. And the closer I got to the tree, the louder it became and it kept looping.I saved my game and reloaded and it went away.

I can understand the reason behind not carrying alchemy equipment as it takes up space, but having to go to a specific place in town to make potions is just as much of a hassle; if not worse. The textures/graphics/what-have-you are not that great in my opinion.I looked at snow-covered rocks up close and it looks like a paint splatter.
Even though I'm slightly perturbed at the moment, I'm still going to give the game another try or two..or three.I mean after all, it IS a TES game.

The thread on the Bethesda forums suggests iPresentInterval=0 should be put in the skyrim.ini file. Does it make a difference?

my Dunmer Warlock Assassin trying to break the ice :P

Played for about 5 hours, so far the only town I've seen is Falkreath. Haven't fought any dragons yet or learned any dragon shouts. I feel like I've only completed about 1% of the game. Beside the tutorial I have only completed one very minor quest so far although I've collected a few dozen new quests. Just started the quest described by one of the journalists about solving a girl's murder.

The quests and characters I've encountered so far all feel like they have a lot more life to them. I even noticed one bandit that I sneaked up on was singing a song to himself. The songs sung by various bards sing are also very well executed.

Really loving the UI except for one problem. I can't take books. I can read them but I'm not able to add them to my inventory, which is kind of a drag because I like to collect them. Other than that, it is much more convenient than Oblivion's UI.

I don't play with keyboard, rather I use NumPad and trackball mouse. I had no problems with mouse sensitivity.

The game looks absolutely stunning projected to about 8 ft x 14 ft with 1080p projector. The textures look much better than Fallout 3 and Oblivion.and unless you stick your nose into a wall or something, I don't get what people complained about. It certainly looks many times better than the 360 version I played on Tuesday.

I haven't checked with FRAPS but the game runs very smooth, I'm guessing about 40-60 fps at 1920x1080, 8xAA and the rest of the settings maxed including 16xAF. Playing on a laptop with 1GB AMD 5830m.

If you follow the Main Quest, you'll fight one quite early on in Whiterun which is what I just did. And holy **** was it amazing :o:o. Sniping it from the tower with a bow and magic and then using my twin daggers to move in for that satisfying finisher. Amazing and now I have a Telekinetic type shout.

Alright, which one of you guys wrote this user review on Metacritic?

Merrill4Life said...
Skyrim is supposed to be Bethesda's response to the smash hit
Dragon Age II yet it fails to measure up on all levels. The character
development system is boring and almost arcane in it's complexity,
compare this to Bioware's talent tree system which let's you pick what you
need and quickly get right back into the action. The world seems empty
and barren for the most part leaving you to wander aimlessly without the
focus and direction provided by the dungeons in DA2. Also none of the
towns and cities even come close to recreating the vibrancy and magic of
Kirkwall. If you have played any FPS before then you have basically played
Skryim, the gameplay is totally lacking of any tactics and depth.

Bethesda's most obvious attempt to ride Bioware's coattail's, however,
is shown by how it prominently features Dragons in the main story, I
wouldn't be at all surprised if they were slapped with a lawsuit for
copyright infringement. If Bethesda would spend more money on
development instead of bribing game reviewers they may have been able to
push out a decent product. It's no wonder RPGs are becoming less
relevant, it's because companies like Bethesdea, Cdprojekt, and Eidos
keep rushing out FPSs in RPG clothing to appeal to the CoD crowd. Stay
away from this trite and unimaginative game, if you must get your FPS
fix get Battlefield 3 or better yet wait for Mass Effect 3. There is a
reason Dragon Age II was proclaimed "Game of the Decade" and Skyrim
falls flat on it's face in it's attempt to take the crown.

Son, I am disappoint. :P
