Alright, which one of you guys wrote this user review on Metacritic?

Skyrim is supposed to be Bethesda's response to the smash hit
Dragon Age II yet it fails to measure up on all levels. The character
development system is boring and almost arcane in it's complexity,
compare this to Bioware's talent tree system which let's you pick what you
need and quickly get right back into the action. The world seems empty
and barren for the most part leaving you to wander aimlessly without the
focus and direction provided by the dungeons in DA2. Also none of the
towns and cities even come close to recreating the vibrancy and magic of
Kirkwall. If you have played any FPS before then you have basically played
Skryim, the gameplay is totally lacking of any tactics and depth.

Bethesda's most obvious attempt to ride Bioware's coattail's, however,
is shown by how it prominently features Dragons in the main story, I
wouldn't be at all surprised if they were slapped with a lawsuit for
copyright infringement. If Bethesda would spend more money on
development instead of bribing game reviewers they may have been able to
push out a decent product. It's no wonder RPGs are becoming less
relevant, it's because companies like Bethesdea, Cdprojekt, and Eidos
keep rushing out FPSs in RPG clothing to appeal to the CoD crowd. Stay
away from this trite and unimaginative game, if you must get your FPS
fix get Battlefield 3 or better yet wait for Mass Effect 3. There is a
reason Dragon Age II was proclaimed "Game of the Decade" and Skyrim
falls flat on it's face in it's attempt to take the crown.

Son, I am disappoint.

Troll review is troll.

Skyrim > DA2 true story. Two complaints so far from though. Graphics are disappointing and the UI.

its very open like fallout 3...personally i dont like that ubermechalarge gamespace stuff..lots of pointless wandering. still not sure how id feel about first-person melee, i always stuck with guns. idunno, still waiting on reviews/gameplay to see if i want it.

Anyone knows, where I can steal a horse near the first village, running around is so slow!

I couldn't find any. But you can get one just outside Whiterun which is like a 5 minute walk.

I'm loving it so far, I got home from the midnight launch by 12.15am and was playing at 12.30am. I played for what I believed was a couple of hours until I looked at the clock and realised it was 7.10am.

**Possible Minor Spoilers (just some things I found, nothing to do with the main quest)**

I had barely touched the main quest, I did the Golden Claw quest, found a hidden bandit base (how I found the door to it was an amazing detail "Why is there dust blowing out from under that shelf?") and claimed a ton of gold and an Orcish long sword for my efforts. I found a dog companion about 2 minutes after leaving the first cave, he was unkillable, he took out a pack of wolves on his own and took down 2 bandits without losing any health at all, I lost him when I told him to wait in a tavern and on my return he was gone nowhere to be seen.

Thats not even mentioning the other smaller things I found, has anyone met the hunter infected with vampirism? Mercs coming after me for theiving from some woman I've no memory of meeting and the enchanting table with a story attached to it.

**End Spoilers**

Game of the year by a mile.

I may owe the girl in Gamestop a favour too. Everyone else was getting turned away for not having finalised stamped receipts, I didn't have one at all, I just had the receipt where I made my second payment. But she took it and handed me my game with no fuss, it saved me a very long wait and ensured I got a taxi home.

This one escaped from Arkham Asylum, Lunatic Schizos' Intensive Treatment Area!

My first char is a bloody strong Nord. Melee is my thing but I'll say anything about it only after I have my Big Bada Sword! (Or Axe, who knows, but I like Swords better).  So far, Dual Imperial Swords have a nice finishing move! But I've only just started the game. =)

I don't see this on Metacritic. Where is it?

Edit: nevermind, found it. Must be a troll.

Decided to alter a purchase for 2012, and order Skyrim instead. Based on the posts seen over the past 24 hrs, I think standard shipping may pay off, in that Patches and Fixes may actually be in place for this Techless One to use to improve his PC experience.

BTW - screenies look amazing; remind me of the time when I first wore glasses, and saw that trees actually had indv leaves on them!

P.S. This thread also confirms my total lack of trust in player reviews, and Metacritic.

Let me know how it goes, I'm low on funds and would like a horse when I leave Whiterun.

Anyone know how horses work if you have a follower? Do they automatically get one or do they run along behind you like the kid who's parents can't afford a bike?

And my first side-quest, retrieving the golden claw: man, the dungeon I have to go to is big! And Riverwood (small starter village) has more life breathed into it than all of Kirkwall combined.

You've seen the combat right? I know you have mentioned you don't like twitch based combat and Elder Scrolls is real time. Reguardless this should hold you until The Old Republic.

How can I turn off Vsync? I hear that can help with speeding up the mouse when looking around.

In the INI (SkyrimPrefs) set iPresentInterval=0 and bMouseAcceleration=0.  Makes a huge difference (for me at least).  I have no lag or sluggish mouse movement at all.

The thread on the Bethesda forums suggests iPresentInterval=0 should be put in the skyrim.ini file. Does it make a difference?

Definately.  The line should already be in the INI around the middle.  Just need to change the 1 to 0.

I'm liking the sound of this. I've decided I'm going to put this sidekick through humiliation. I picked her up after a fist fight which she almost won, I can't let that stand so she will be chasing my horse the whole way across Skyrim and back. :wizard:
