Hey my companion got stuck. Any suggestions on how to get her unstuck. I tried sending her back home but she isn't going home.

If you fast travel somewhere she will probably find her way either to you or where you originally found her.

I've rarely saved. So far the game's had great autosaves, but I've never needed to reload since I have yet to die in-game.

Attack a giant, I dare you.

I stabbed him once then got thrown a 100 feet in the air.

Payback is going to be a **** for that giant when I can finally take him down.

Actually, I ran into those giants outside Whiterun already.

First time- They were walking by, herding with their Mammoths. I did not engage, they were friendlies.

Second Time- Same area, but at night. So dark I needed light, and saw a pyre. Walked up to it, and a giant started waving his club at me. Got closer, and then he attacked. Never hit me though because I hauled ass.

A few pages ago, I thought you were playing a dual wield stealthy character?

If you have switched to a melee / healer-type, I would say build toward the 2H decapitation perk

EDIT: I see you are also thinking about 1H.

IMO 1H is more fun because you can

dual wield (animations look very cool in third person)
sword and board (some great shield bash / block perks avaialble and blocking is like a kind of attack in Skyrim, very different from Oblivion)
Sword and magic

I never make stealthy characters, you just recommended it because apparently you can deal up to 6000 times, is that what you said?, damage with it from what you've read.  Dual Wielding for me is just a different way of dealing damage. dps versus slower, harder hitting attacks.

I was unsure whether I'd be Dual Wield or go 2 Handed and the healing is because on Master, it is almost a requirement.  I'd rather healing magic than to use items, especially since some stop the natural regen for a bit.

I was going to do 2 handed because I thought there wasn't going to be true dual wieldiing, but I was kind of proved wrong.  There are special attack animations, two perks that raise effectiveness of dual wielding, I'm looking mostly at the +40% total speed increase.  Without that perk though, Dual Wielding is not as effective as using a two-handed weapon.  Though I found out, your attack rating is the combination of both weapons, a 20 attack 2-handed only increases attack by 2 points from the two 1 handed swords I have.

But so far, the best looking weapons I have are two-handed.  I also don't like shields.

No help? I need opinions on which direction i should go. Actually, I'm still not sure if I want One_handed or two-handed

I'd go one-handed. Its very flexible and if you dual wield or use a shield you can have a different enchanted weapon in each hand. With two-handed you only get the one enchantment.

I'm level 10 and have found my skills and perks going allover the place. One-handed, dual wielding, light armour, stealth, black smithing. I may end up with problems later on but its working out well so far.

Dual Wielding is One-Handed skill so... Light Armor is an armor skill, it's going to go up regardless, Stealth is a good support skill, and Blacksmithing has nothing to do with combat so it can only help you.

As for the perks... There's enough difference between how fast those skills level up and the levels of each wher you can purchase perks that it's not that big of a deal. But the order you take them might go either way.

If you're playing on Adept or lower it doesn't really matter. It's when you got to Expert and Master that the perks you choose play a much more significant role. But hey, forging weapons and armor and buying the perks that allow you to improve them could actually be pretty beneficial.

After you enhance an armor, its defense value stays that way, there's no deterioration. I read the entire Help menu and it says nothing about stat deterioration on improved equipment.

I also chose to learn +25% Magicka regen and Novice spells cost Half.  I am at 39, I got it up there from 30 in less than 30 minutes I wager.

The traps I am using are the swinging axes in the second main objective dungeon, or the first after setting foot in the actual area labeled Skyrim.

Stealthing is easy to level up as long as you keep doing it in caves and such. Good way to help yourself level up entirely.

Someone mentioned Prima Guide. I almost ruined my Morrowind experience with guides and playthoughs. Since BG, which I actually ruined with a guide, I don't use them.  Sure, there are lots of secrets that only a guide will reveal to us, sometimes, but guides are not for the first playthrough. At least for me. And I may end up bumping into some of those secrets myself and it's a much greater satisfaction than being led by an OOC guide!

I can easily say that this is my next "over 2,000 hours" game. Prolly with just 2 or 3 characters like Oblivion too. Rage just got bigger, stronger and uglier!

Just ran into a giant for the first time. Will not be taking on anything that stomps that loud just yet since I'm only at level 4.

Those are just the ones off the top of my head that I can remember putting perks into. I've been leveling alot more things than that. Which is why I'm mildly worried that my attack stats aren't as high as they should be for my level. Call it a hang over fear from Oblivion. I can't even recall what difficulty I started on, I think it might be expert.

Another good way to level sneak is if you have to follow an NPC a fair distance then sneak behind them the whole way.

At the beginning I had no interest at all in blacksmithing and enchanting but I'm finding them oddly addictive.

Edit: BSN is being a bloody nightmare for me tonight. Nothing is working right, can't even see half the posts so theres a chance this no longer makes any sense. Theres a chance it never did make any sense too...

Level 9 ****es! I'm taking a break from leveling Restoration, it's at 40 and I have the perk that also restores Stamina with healing spells. I should be set for the first dragon I come across.

I just need to figure out which weapon perks I want. Oh, where is the first forge opportunity and can you buy forging materials? I am saving a perk for improving the steel sword I have.

Also, I accidentally hit one unkillable NPC too many times on a quest and he decided to fight me. I put up my shield and blocked his swings, lo and behold my block was being leveled up.

Good thing to keep in mind.

Riverwood and yes. I think you can buy almost everything you need off the guy working the forge, the one we saw in all the early videos. He even teaches you how to use them by getting you to build things for him.

Having a blast with the game so far. Can't wait for mods.
I am utilizing sword and board right now, since dual wield sucks big ass with the inability to block.
Also, posting a few pics I took during mah gameplay.:innocent:

Howdy folks, Well now will have to admit that with havving about 16 hours of skyrim under my belt since I got it installed at around 1am. Steam was slow so many folks online installing it when I was.

So far I've learned 3 shouts one for which I've got all 3 words for.<G> I've completed about a dozen or so quest and have about 4k in gold buiilt up. Not to mention that I've killed almost a dozen dragons already and I'm now Level 5. I've lveveled up my character and have 3perks for which I've yet to use as well as for one dragon shout. Heck I've even been up to the top of the 7000 steps for the spine of the world. Best Armor for which I've found so far has been Iron no enchanted amor. Love the Lock picking so much better than Oblivion's and those stupid tumblers for which I could never get to stay up<G>

One thing for which I found so far that I didn't care for is that the merchants don't have multitudes of cash like in Oblivion. As fhey buy stuff from you there cash available to buy things goes down and once it reaches 0 you're out of luck with that merchant till you leave and come back later.

Have yet to use a horse in Skrim though been walking everywhere so I don't know if they are as bad as they were in Oblivion or not.

This sure looks and feels like GOTY product as far as I'm concerned. Enjoy the game Got a couple of pm's to answer than I'll be back in the game. Need to go kill some more dragons.
.

EDIT: Currently I've had no lag in the game nor problems with the UI what so ever. Graphics are gorgeous. Also the Giants they aren't so tuff.Image IPBImage IPB

Good to hear that it looks good with an xbox. My computer could barely handle DAO/DA2, so I'd really rather avoid the headache and just play it on xbox. I'm not too concerned with missing out on mods.

@greengoron89 thanks, I'd like to hear more impressions.

I've been messing around with the character creator a bit and haven't gotten too far in the actual game, but the graphics are gorgeous. The attention to detail is pretty mindblowing, and the landscape is the most lush I've ever seen in a videogame.

I also agree with the others that the third-person view is much better than first-person, so I'll be playing it that way most of the time.

The only gripe I have is the CC is a bit of a pain to work with. You can't zoom in as far as I'm aware to get a good look at the character, so it's a little hard to see what all settings affect what. I actually just ended up going with the first Nord male preset (which actually looks pretty damn good TBH).

Either way, Morrowind and Oblivion can kiss their asses goodbye. Skyrim is king now. :D

Yeah, its annoying looting a bunch of expensive equipment and then realizing that the merchants you want to sell it to are poor as dogs.

I was pleasantly surprised that the sneak system has been improved a lot from Oblivion.

I have been playing on Master as a low level dual wield/stealth/mage character and I've found you can actually run away from enemies and hide, get your sneak status back, and then pop them again with a dual wield backstab or arrow. Wash rinse repeat.

I just bought the game but can't play until tommorow. I did have a couple of questions though:
  • What's dialogue like? More Oblivion or Fallout?
  • Is speech a worthwhile skill at all this time around?
  • What's the word on the guilds?
  • I've been hearing some bad stuff about dual-weilding, but I really wanted to try it for RP reasons but is viable at all?
Thanks in advance.

I'm level 10 and haven't even done half of that.

Just goes to show how huge the game is. I've just been wandering off finding things to do and getting caught up in distractions away from the main quest.

I thought the merchants were like that in Oblivion too. In my experience so far if you leave and come back later then they will have plenty of money again. Thats what I experienced in Riverwood anyway.

I noticed that the presets actually utilize some different mouth and eye shapes than you get with the sliders.

I actually like a few of the presets for Female Dark Elf, Female Wood Elf, and Female High Elf.

That doesn't annoy me as much as the fact that they buy your things for around 20% of their actual value.

Unless you master speech, but that takes way too god damn long.

  • It's more like Fallout 3, but kinda limited IMHO. For example there was one instance where guy asked me to fetch this and that without the option of me saying no.
  • I hear it apparently helps your intimidate and persuasion options in dialogues. Never tried it btw.
  • There are a few. The usual drill, mages, thieves, fighters etc. just with different names I guess. So far, I've joined the warrior one. It has an interesting storyline I won't spoil.
  • There is dual wielding. You can combine pretty much every one handed weapon with a shield, spell, staff, torch or another weapon. The only drawback(and reason I prefer sword and shield to it) is the inability to block.
