Which part of riverwood?  I already have the first word for the Force shout, I just missed the blacksmith apparently.

I just bought the game but can't play until tommorow. I did have a couple of questions though:
What's dialogue like? More Oblivion or Fallout?
Is speech a worthwhile skill at all this time around?
What's the word on the guilds?
I've been hearing some bad stuff about dual-weilding, but I really wanted to try it for RP reasons but is viable at all?
Thanks in advance.

Since Dual Wield is tied to the One-hand skill tree, I would start with sword and shield on Expert or Master difficulty for a good boost leveling those up. Then once you've learned the perk that increases dual wield attack speed, I would start dual wielding.

It's just since you can't block, it's one of those things that start off weak but get better as you level it up. But the attack damage is about as good as using a two-handed sword.

1. It's more like Fallout 3, but kinda limited IMHO. For example there was one instance where guy asked me to fetch this and that without the option of me saying no.
2. I hear it apparently helps your intimidate and persuasion options in dialogues
3. There are a few. The usual drill, mages, thieves, fighters, just with different names I guess. So far, I've joined the warrior one. It has an interesting storyline I won't spoil.
4. There is dual wielding. You can combine pretty much every one handed weapon with a shield, spell, staff, torch or another weapon. The only drawback(and reason I prefer sword and shield to it) is the inability to block.

Much obliged, a bit sad about dialogue and dual wielding but oh well. I'll still be making my silver tongued rogue khajiit, just going to need to be a bit more focused on armor than I thought.

I noticed that the presets actually utilize some different mouth and eye shapes than you get with the sliders.

I actually like a few of the presets for Female Dark Elf, Female Wood Elf, and Female High Elf.

Level 9 ****es! I'm taking a break from leveling Restoration, it's at 40 and I have the perk that also restores Stamina with healing spells. I should be set for the first dragon I come across.

I just need to figure out which weapon perks I want. Oh, where is the first forge opportunity and can you buy forging materials? I am saving a perk for improving the steel sword I have.

Riverwood and yes. I think you can buy almost everything you need off the guy working the forge, the one we saw in all the early videos. He even teaches you how to use them by getting you to build things for him.

This is news to me, where in Riverwood?

Alvor the blacksmith, near the watermill by the entrance to the town. I'm pretty sure almost every village and major city has a forge, workbench, hide tanning device, wood chopping place, etc.

I didn't really like the CC. The Bald Brotherhood was poorly represented and I couldn't get a face I overly liked but I wear a hood anyway so its ok.

Right across the wee bridge from the mill. Right at the entrance to Riverwood if you come in from the area where the standing stones are. Across from the old woman who saw a dragon, she is looking right at it. I've no idea how you missed it lol. Although it doesn't look much like a forge at first glance.

Theres an enchanting table not far from Riverwood too but it will probably be more fun to discover it for yourself.

Edit: If you have been to Whiterun theres a forge right inside the entrance too where the blacksmith woman is working. Outside the first building on your right.

I've been playing a dual wield assassin-type character. on the "master setting," it's challenging on the lower levels, but the third person animations look so cool that it's very satisfying. Once you get some perks for dual wield flurry, backstab, Assassin's blade, etc., it will be a lot more powerful.

Naughty Killed a couple of Giants so far. As for me I'm running a female Dark elf bow and dual long swords.

Druss- No the merchants in Oblivon had a max amt that they would pay you for an item but their gold never decreased for things that you bought.

Now I just went and checked a couple of things I've to 7 of the achievements so far and the shouts that I've learned and can use are:

Become Ethreal 1
Unrenting Force 3
Whirlwind Sprint 1

The number after each one is the number of words I've got in it currently. Found out where another one is and I'm about ready to go and tackle that place and get it.<G>

Ferris I'm currently dual wielding long swords and it's great. I stuck one bandit in the gut and loped his head off with my other sword. I about fell of the chair when I seen it. It was just so cool. Image IPB

Oh and I even got a female companion running with me currently. I obtained her from a Jarl of one of the city for doing a couple of quest for him She's save my bacon a couple of times.

can you post some screens for us Red? I want to see you knock somebody off a cliff with that fully maxed out Unrelenting Force. :P

Also WARNING for anybody who is not reading all the books. I got a quest after reading a book about a powerful artifact. There may be more of these quest books in addition to the skill books.

I probably could if someone would tell me how you capture them game pics. I might install a program someone told me about in regards to recording your game while you were playing it and film it.

Just press F12

Steam has a screenshot function. After you exit the game, Steam will open a window with all the screenshots you took and ask if you want to upload them to your Steam page.

Oh ok thanks for telling me that I'll give it a shot and see what happens next time I'm running through the game. Got to see someone now about another part of a quest so it might just be soon.<LOL> Now would you like it to be bi-pedial, 4 leg or does it matter?<LOL>

I haven’t run into any major bugs yet. I did somehow get an arrow stuck in my face and nothing I did got rid of it. I entered a cave later on and it disappeared, not sure if that is what fixed it.

I only made two mistakes so far:

I tried to stop an execution. I think I’ll mind my own business until I am a higher level.

And… I tried to light up a giant. Yeah, come to find out--they don’t like that.

Other than that, this is truly one of the most amazing games I have played. Definitely my GOTY.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS, BUT I'LL BE AS GENERIC AS POSSIBLE*

First, you need to go to Riverwood and into the Sleeping Giant Inn, then ask the guy on the bar about Rumors, eventually he will tell you about A Kid Called Aventus(i believe..)Aretino, and to go to a Specific city(i THINK it was Winterhold but don't quote me on that), go to him and do his Quest.

Afterwards go to Swamps around Morthal, and look for an abandoned Shack, then, find a bed roll in the swamps, sleep in it, and afterwards you'll know what to do.

Also, before the Swamps, i received a Letter from a Curier, it was them, but i don't know if this is necessary for them to find you.

I'm sure there are more ways to find them, but that's what happened to me.

I tried to defeat two guys escorting this one bound dude on my way to Whiterun.

It's about time! I finally got the quest with the dragon that attacks whiterun. I take it once I pass this that Dragons will start popping up in the world?

I just met Hrongar, definitely inspired by Conan The Barbarian. He speaks with Arnold's accent and everything.

How's the actual story and immersiveness of the characters?

I don't really care about the graphics or the open world, but all of the reviews on Metacritic orgasm at the opportunity to pull of immature hijinks rendered at a high resolution instead of anything on the story itself.

Are there subtleties? Did it make you want to move forward? Simple? Complex? How's the voice acting?

It seems from everything I've seen that I'd get bored quickly since the combat system is so simple without a good story to drive me.

By the way you have unplugged your controller if got one installed same time? someone said they couldn't use their mouse till unplugged controller then restarted game. Also load game and go to settings > gameplay >  un-checking the 360 gamepad box if you have it turned on? Try turming off any mouse additional software you may be running.

LOL... We started on opposite direction then. Riverwood is the first place I met, still at level 2, after leaving the tutorial. But I followed my brethen, not the imperial scum!

You can turn on or off subtitles in settings, open world/do what you want/you have a main questline up to you if want to follow aka move forward in that direction as opposed to making your own direction instead if that floats your boat as it were, VO is ok but silent main character which is fine I prefer it that way just like Fallout series in that regard.

But we get an awesome attack by holding RMB, don't we? Do other weapons get that too?
