Instead of blaming your "bugs" on the game being a console port, maybe you could try and figure out the PC specific settings that the game menue has?. I can tell you exactly how to fix your UI problems. Go to your Settings menu.. Find the option that says "console game pad support". It's on by default. turn it off. Now you'll be able to use your mouse as intended.

You think I havent thought of that? Esc. key does nothing. I can't bring up the menu to change controller settings in the first place. The game won't let me...cause it's a console game. [inappropriate comments removed]

Oh, about earlier with the dragonbone and scales.

Yeah, guess I could keep them to craft dragonbone armor and such things, but that requires 100 IN SMITHING. WOULDN'T THAT TAKE FOREVER TO GET TO!?

That would be easy to do if I had a ton of gold which I DON'T.

I'd have 1K+ more than I already have if somebody had enough gold to buy this friggen staff off of me.

Apparently its worth almost 4000 gold. I can sell it for about 1.3K.

Hmm.. I thought Weres are particularly vulnerable to Silver (or better) weapons. Aren't they? =)  Anyway, good to know that there are Silver weapons. But Smithing does not have crafting for them. (weird)

It is the Silver Hand (Or something like that) that has the silver weapons. That is actually a really good quest to do as the cavern also holds a word wall.

I get console control settings automatically set in a f*cking PC game, and I can't disable them.  This is why consoles suck ass.

edit this file:

Scroll down to the [MAIN] section and change

It's not supposed to.  Use  Tab to get out of ANY menu.

Excuse me, read the game manual first, and THEN use Tab to get out of any menu.

That doesn't work , you assume I'm an idiot. Thanks all the same for your suggestions. A number of people had this issue and reported it on Beth's fourms. [inappropriate comments removed]

That doesn't work

Then it's a bug in YOUR game, not "pc versions of Skyrim everywhere" or whatever silly tripe you're trying to argue.. It works perfectly, as intended, on my PC copy of Skyrim.

So I basically haven't started any main quests yet, etc for escaping my execution.

Okay, so I basically was exploring and I ended up finding this mountain with a Dragon Shout and you know, all good, go for the shout and bam... Volsung pops out. Scariest fight I've had in the game (I have yet to fight a dragon, relating back to not starting the main stuff yet).. so yeah, it took me a good twenty minutes because I was only level 11, plus I'm only on Adept(whatever it's name is) difficulty. My question is, was this too early a fight for me?

Damn, I love this game. The only downfall is I'm afraid to explore - lol. I'm still stuck in Riverwood with my High Elf. I keep hearing the Riverwood Trader and his sister arguing so I think I'm going to ask them what's up pretty soon. I know its for the Golden Claw...but my High Elf doesn't.

BTW- I think it works pretty well on the PC. I heard people complaining about not being able to use their mouse, but I can use mines on all the menus. I mean...it could be better - like the hotkeys and crap - but the favorites system works fine, for now.

Yep.  Crafting is a big step up!  I mean, I went to the bench and grind wheel and just started repairing and upgrading my crap. Very intutitive.  A giant leap forward for ES.  Liked the ambient dialogue.  Got warned a few times by guards for carrying my weapon drawn.  I am loving this game.

And NPCs know what you are,  *AND* they notice when you've got a disease!!

2 examples that left me in stitches:

1)I'm playing an Orc. I was  walking through Whiterun.  I was overencumbed, so  I decided to drop some items from my inventory.    Right after I did that, some woman who was walking by said something to the effect of:  "Damn Orcs, don't know where to properly dispose of their trash"  lol

2)  I was walking through Falkreath.  I was diseased.  people on the street were saying stuff like "you look pale".  and "you look sick!"  and "it looks like you could use some rest"

Just... what amazing  embelleshment of detail in this game.

See that pisses me off, my guy from the start no matter how often I pray in a temple of use cure pots always gets told that, and he's not sick, and I've noticed the conversation walls can be broken. I like Syrim but...I'm not that impressed. Honestly if there was anotehr game coming that I wanted, Syrim would still be on my back burner.

So has Bethesda released a patch for those who don't have an Xbox controller? You know, for people that actually bought the game on PC?

On PC you say?

CRAAAAAAAAAAZZZYYY!!!!

Of course they didn't.  Watching you complain is to fun for them.

Also I found myself doing this for like 15 mins lol.

Fair enough.

Moving on, anyone else really enjoying the magic this time around? Magic's always been a bit OPed in the Elder Scrolls but I've always found it boring. This time around it's actually fun to use, especially when i'm backing it up with a One Handed weapon or shield.

I did that.  Still doesn't work.  Mouse is useless in the menus.  But I'm not complaining (unless another puzzle requires me to rotate an image again)

Yeah, they really upped the ante with spell effects this time around. I usually play spell-casters, so when I decided to play a ranger for a change, I really lamented that I couldn't turn my hand into a flamethrower. I'm also noticing a hint of Bioshock in the spell animations.

Basically, with Skyrim, the developers seems to have balanced gameplay around the player being able to use spells all the time, without needing some form of steel to hold as protection. It's a good change, imo.

Just so you know, not all of us are like that. I wouldn't play any game I really like on an Xbox unless I have to, but I don't hate them like the plague.

I haven't played any specialists at this point, but I think a pure Stealth character stands a fair chance of doing well without magic. Warriors do seem to be out classed however, dragons just wreck me whenever I get to close. Althought that might just be my fairly squishy build.

Yeah Todd Howard aditted it personally that the spellcasting was inspired by what Ken Levine did with BioShock. It works very well in an Elder Scrolls game too.

In fact, there's another claw puzzle  in Skyrim.  Only it's not a golden  dragon claw, it's a ruby dragon  claw.  Same exact puzzle though, same rotating ringed door.  lol

My god, the music in this game is just incredible. It really breathes more life into an already lively world. I especially love the music that plays at night - so peaceful and relaxing.

Jeremy Soule is the man - easily one of the best videogame composers out there IMHO.

Just a minor touch for me, but everytime I level up and I hear that epic chant in the background singing of my praises. Oh man that is just a ridiculous amount of satisfaction from something so small but I love it.

One thing I really like is that the new system seems to allow/promote the ability of the player to diversify. It's still possible to play "pure" classes, but by removing attributes, I feel less awkward making a two-handed warrior who also tosses around restoration spells, or something similar.

But I'm also curious how a pure warrior would handle a dragon. Any input is appreciated.

Haha, I knew it! It was a very good call, too. Alternating between dual casting, two different spells, and even spell/weapon works really well. Dual wielding has opened up a good number of opportunities for this series.
