The only thing that remains is that magical weapons need to be recharged with soul gems from time to time. Armor doesn't need to be recharged, though.Hawke_12 wrote...

Like you said, the game is awesome! But my first Dragon ate me and spit the bones!!!!! LOL ... gotta record that for a video! And that's how Dragons are supposed to fight! Reminds me of Reign of Fire!
It was pretty fast IRL. Some 15-30 minutes perhaps. Worst part was to keep traveling for the material. And we don't need repair stuff in Skyrim. Only improve them. I have all my gear at "Flawless" state, Full Orcish set with an Dwarven Gauntlets that give 20% extra 2-handed damage. On my new self crafted Enchanted Elven Greatsword. I was owning the Dragon and he ate me! GRRRRRR (level 19 atm)
That's true? AWESOME! I got tired of constantly reparing my stuff and that cost all lot of caps. Plus you could never upgrade them fully.

Extreme Home Makeover
Before
After
I'm loving this game so far. The exploring, the scenary. Just traveling from place to place and finding random caves and forts to clear out. I've even been just taking time and crafting, got my smithing up over 40. I've made superior armor for me and my companion. I'm still figuring out alchemy, I've eaten some of everything to figure out what it's for lol.
Some of the fights I've had in snowstorms were just great. The UI isn't the best I've seen, and the game has crashed back to the desktop a few times, with no error whatsoever, it closes. But even with that, this is the most fun I've had with a new game since I played Origins the first time.
Wow! Beautiful!
God ****ing dammit! I still can't post pictures!

So a quick question if anyone finds the time to answer:
Is rolling a sword & shield warrior good? I was thinking of making my PC similiar to the guy in the trailers and just wondering that I won't have any problem playing the game with those weapons.
So yeah, is it worth spending points on those?
First let me say EVERY build is worth it and viable. No matter which main form of combat you choose, it is viable and fun depending on your tastes.
But to you question yes. I've been rolling axe and shield and so far no problems save for a few magical foes. If you really are worried about weakness somewhere pretty quickly into the main quest you get a companion that will shore up your weaknesses.

Got a quick question for Skyrim owners. Are the dungeons more varied and unique, as far as layout and appearance goes? My biggest gripe with Oblivion by far was that the dungeons were monotonous and repetitive, particularly the Ayleid Ruins, Oblivion gates, and the various cave-based dungeons.
In my opinion, the Dungeons are the best part of the entire game.

And the sound fix doesn't seem to do anything for it.

They'll probably go bad after I get to higher levels, but right now (especially the bound bow WHICH I don't need arrows for) is epic.

Cheers, thanks very much! The favorites menu is key then. Of course, I just figured out last night that it scrolls and you can put more than four things in it.Soul Cool wrote...

Has anyone figured out how to hot key? I use the favorites menu but want a larger selection of stuff.
Go to your favorites list, click the number you want to hotkey to the spell or item or whatever. (I know 1-8 works.)
Example:
I re-started my character as a spellsword, which is more how I had conceived her anyway. Putting points early into your major weapon class is the way to go I think. Those 20% boosts help a lot. Also, I picked up Lydia and she has saved my ass a few times.
The most b/a I've felt, though, is hoisting a log on my shoulders in a lumber mill. lol

It's about creating your own story, and the smaller stories in the world. If you were expecting to be wowed by cinematics and the main quest, you really haven't played a Bethesda game before. Maybe it's not the game for you, but it would be a shame to put it aside so quickly.SebastianDA wrote...
But, in the end, this game really gave me the feeling of playing a single-player MMO, just without anyone else to play with. Sub-par story and acting, "exploration" and fetch quests, gathering and crafting...
Overall to me, I'd give this game a 5/10, as I'm as indifferent about the game as it made me feel about what is going on in it.
As for me, being a fan of Norse culture and history, I love the main quest. The hard part will be playing a character who sides with the Imperials.

Being a Dunmer in the game I find it hard to side with the stormcloaks (they'll kick me out of Skyrim if they win!

Been playing for a while now, and I have to say that the reviewers seem to be playing a different game. I don't know if its because I've been playing Demon's Souls, but Skyrim's combat system seems to have taken a nosedive from Oblivion. The melee is very clunky. I hope it gets better the more I get used to this slow, tired combat system. As an added note, I didn't really like the character creator because all the faces seem like they are around 60 years old or something--not too big of a deal, though. I wish they didn't simplify that part.
Skyrim has got a more low-fantasy feel so I actually enjoyed the fact that people looked a bit gritty and dirty. To quote Monty Python a bit:
"How can you tell he's the Dovakhin?"
"He hasn't got **** all over him."
Point being that if you lived in the wilderness that is Skyrim, you would build up a bit of gritty look about you.

Its not the dirtyness; I really don't care about that. It's the fact that every character looks like they are in their 60's or older. As for the combat system, yeah, it's pretty terrible. They really should've taken notes from how fluid and awesome Dark, especially Demon's, Souls combat system was.

I liked that people looked older, too mant games have only two categories of age: young and very old. Skyrim makes people look more realistic. Speaking of realism, that's what I like about combat this time around. My weapons have weight, when I swing a mace I feel like there's weight behind it. When I'm firing an arrow I get a sense of impact from it. It's slow sure, but it works. Every hit I land feels immensly satisfying, espicially with the bow which thanks to it's range and power is quickly becoming one of my favorite weapons.
