Gotta add this to my embarassment...when trying to open someone's inventory for the first time I must have held on to the e button too long...picked the guy up and dragged him a ways before I figured out what I did wrong...a quick click would have sufficed.

LOL!

Actually, you weren't doing anything wrong, per se.  You can have quite a bit of fun moving dead bodies around in this game.  (ahem)

No.  Or  should I say, there's no perk or spell that allows you to.

But I, for one, am keeping an eye out for  the first mod that allows for lock bashing, because frankly, I dislike the lockpicking mini-game that's forced upon us.  For gods sake, my greatsword can slice the head off a dragon... but it can't bash upen an old wooden chest. And that makes no sense.

Okay, is there any way to increase carrying capacity? I'm getting really tired of getting overloaded every 5 minutes . . . . .

Every time you level up your stamina, your carry capacity gets raised by 5. Other than that, have your companions carry some loot. And buy a house. And drop worthless junk like Iron armor, shields and weapons you won't be using. (no reason to bother picking that crap up  in the first place)

Oh and  Pro-tip:  eat your food after a fight.     True story...I had a tough  encounter against some  spiders this morning, which left me badly wounded.  so I went into my inventory and ate:  20 cabbages, 15 red apples,  10 cheese wheels, and  6 or 7  raw goat legs.   I know, I know, standard meal, but it brought me back to full health and lowered my inventory weight from 310, to 290ish.

I had the dog at the very start and told him to wait in the Riverwood tavern. When I went back next morning he was gone and I've not seen him since. Does anyone know where he goes?

Radiant Story realised I hadn't seen a dragon in a while and decided to remedy this. One minute me and Lydia are wandering along minding our own business when a dragon roars. We head over to take care of the vile beast only to discover that its actually quite busy taking on a giant and theres fireballs coming from somewhere too, I waded in while trying to keep my distance from the giant and notice that he wasn't showing as an enemy.

So its me, Lydia and the giant against this dragon with mystery fireballs peppering everyone. Then suddenly another very green dragon shows up and Lydia decides the best thing to do is spend the whole fight running face first into a tree. It was this maverick maneuver that I believe won us the fight. Both dragons went down and next thing I know a hag is charging at me unleashing fire. I was very low on health and about to dragon shout her in the face when the giant very casually clubbed her over the head like she was a naughty child before walking off to do his gianty things.

I was left standing there thinking "Holy sh*t!". Lydia was still dealing with that pesky tree, I left her to it.

I found a waystone that lets you automatically open any lock up to Expert. I can't recall if its a once a day power or not. Its not too far from where you go to for the final Companions quest.

I'm not playing as a warrior, but isn't sword & shield the better choice? You won't do as much damage, but there's a perk that lets you block elemental damage with your shield. And a perk that negates arrows.

What does a two-handed or dual-wielding fighter do against a mage with frost magic?

I believe all the Block skills work with Two-Handed.  But I haven't tested them all out.  I actually meant to but have been side tracked.  But so far I confirm that Bash and Increased Movement While Block works with Two-Handed weapons.  I haven't tried against a magic enemy or an archer.

So, I was jsut reading some reviews. Some good, soe not so good, from players. One complaint was that on PC the controls are clunky and plainly designed for a console. Are they really that bad?

Also, how is the voice acting? I still shudder thinking about oblivions 4 people voicing every NPC in the game. heh

People saying that are talking utter BS, it's not true at all.  I think the controls work really well and usually, I suck really bad using a mouse and keyboard.  But I don't feel that with this one.  The shortcuts are aptly assigned, J for Journal, M for Map, etc.

Also, the keys for Auto Movement, Run/Walk (Left Shift Key), Run Always On/Off (Cap Lock), and Sheathe Weapon and for picking stuff up are all placed so you can easily hit them with your pointer or ring finger.  So, I don't understand the complaints.  It's not any different than it was in Oblivion the short time I tried the PC version.

People even say you can assign Favorites to number keys, I haven't tried it yet.  But it would certainly be faster to assign Dual Wielded weapons and spells to them.

It's also easy to change the key assignments: either hit Enter when highlighting one or click it.  I actually find it easier with an actual mouse than my mousepad.  Use the Mouse Wheel to scroll through the items quickly.  I take it on the console you have to use the Right Stick?  Unless that's used to rotate the items, then I don't know how you can easily choose equipment with a controller as opposed to the mouse wheel.

Although I encountered the mouse glitch during Character Creation once, all of a sudden I couldn't move the character's head around for some reason one time, but I could move the sliders and change the categories.

Yrkoon wrote...

Again, it's not so much that  the controls are clunky (they really aren't) as much as they are a steep learning curve. I still find myself looking over at the game manual to help me remember which key to press for the more complicated actions.

And I still don't know how to use my Berserker rage. I've got it Favorited, but nothing happens when I select it.

Z Button.  Racial abilities and Shouts are assigned to it.  So you can't have a Racial Ability AND a Shout at the same time.  I know, crazy, especially since I don't think you can activate them from the menu.

That's probably my only complaint.

Stamina, huh?  I'll start pumping some points into that . . .I knocked it up twice, and saw the my capacity was up, but didn't make the connection, since I only recently noticed the capacity increase . . .should pay more attention I guess.

I don't pick food up much . . .given my carrying issue, I haven't wanted to deal with the damn .3/.2 pounds adding up on me....

Thanks

No and it wouldn't work the way the lockpicking works.  I actually like the lockpicking and if you learn the perks for making all the levels easier and get the one that starts the lockpick close to the location to unlock it, and the cursor pretty much starts right where you just hit A to unlock it.  And since I got it to 100, I have not found a lock that I have to move the pick around.

And people wondered why I used cheats, it actually helps out a lot to understand the game mechanics.  And I love that I now know all this stuff.

Player.SetAV CarryWeight 9999

The way without cheating to increase your stamina and that only increases it by 5.  Say you get to level 79, max out every skill, and choose Stamina every level... You'll only have... 695 Carry Weight and if you get the one perk, either under Sneak or Lock Picking... You're only looking at 795.

You can get to 1k really quick if you don't sell anything.

Can't believe I didn't think of this before, here's the screenshots of the Voice Actor credits.  There's 7 of them.

You should be able to click on them if they are too small, I used tags to link the images.

Seven what? What are we looking at?

That giant story is hilarious. I'm starting to love them.

Re the PC controls- I am learning my way around them, but I've messed up a few dialogues because the mouse didn't click where it was supposed to, and sometimes clicking closes the menu instead of selecting an item. It's much more reliable to use arrow keys and the keyboard. As far as shouts and powers, you can put them in your favorites and you can also hotkey them.

I don't understand when people say the voice acting is not up to Bioware standard. If anything I think it's better, but maybe I'm just addicted to Scandi accents. lol

Yes, put points into Stamina. Every level up when you increase Stamina, you increase carry weight.

Also, you there is a "increase carry weight" enchantment that you can learn and apply to your own armor and jewelry.

Okay, now I'm pissed!

Dragon encounter...he killed me twice...third time I prevailed by using the terrain and Shouts, Archery, a little fire and finished him off with an axe. I stand victoriously over my prey as I loot his carcass and get ready to absorb my fallen prey's soul...

...then (POOF) a f-ing giant steps up behind me, out of nowhere, and one hits me into the f-ing clouds.

Oh, he's so dead on this round.

I took screenshots of the Voice Actor credits, so people don't have to take my word for it and can see for themselves.  Though once the page changes, probably no one else will look at them.

Don't know either.  Bioware never got Cindy Robinson for more than one role, Bethesda gets huge props for giving her more significant roles.

There are a LOT more than seven VAs, though. Those are just the ones with top billing. I haven't even heard most of the big names yet.  (edit: this article says "over 70")

Edit: I did notice that we were getting executed by Gideon Emery and "Captain Bailey".  :)

Just fought a Blood Dragon in Winterhold and by the gods this thing was brutal. Took me about 6 retries to kill it. It's flame was bad enough but he/she/it kept grabbing me with it's mouth and that's an insta-kill.:pinched:

Yeah, the voice acting to me is great.

Also, after pumping some one-hand into my Altmer...he's totally boss. I recommended it for anyone who's playing a pure mage. Use the bound sword and bound bow as it is affected by the one-handed skill tree and the archery (as well as bound axe). Destruction skill is not your friend once you reach higher levels unfortunately :(

Ok, this one are for dumb players like me who rushed into the game w/out reading the manual: (reply to my topic in the official forums)

Step-by-step guide to hotkeys in Skyrim:

1. Add whatever you want to hotkey to the favorites menu
2. Open the favorites menu
3. Hover over the thing you want to hotkey
4. Press one of the numbers above qwerty. Works for 1-8

Voila. Hotkeyed.

Protip for spells --- double-tap a hotkey to put that spell in both hands.

I eventually figured that out.  I may be missing something but is there a way to hotkey a weapon to your left hand if you're an avid dual wielder?

I was caught unaware, just strolling around and exploring a bit of Solitude, when out of nowhere I hear Meredith talking!

She's actually a cool person though. Caught me off guard is all. :P

Yeah, I'm at 85 after testing some cheats and the beginning spells suck horribly at this level.  I'm not sure the others I saw after using the cheat to unlock them all will give much better results.

I had to upgrade an Ebony Greatsword to Legendary to do significant damage.

I found out: The dragons only do that when you're near death anyway.  It's their equivalent to your cinematic finishers.

Yes, I meant that there were 7 screenshots.  Not that there were 7 voice actors.

Did no one look at them? :(

If you make a Khajiit they call you 'the cat'  at the beginning .. Made me chuckle :P
