Didn't his voice sound a lot like the actor playing Varric when he says. "Wow, what is that, I must be drunk!"

Yes, now that you mention it! I was also tickled pink when I heard Captain Bailey (from ME2)'s voice at the very beginning of the game, along with Gideon Emery.

Me too! Have you gone through Mzulft yet? That's as far as I've gotten so far in that quest line.

It's kind of mysterious how companions equip stuff. I would guess they take the highest damage item. It makes it interesting when you give them stuff to hold and they start using it. Lydia's been using a battle axe of souls and collecting souls for me. I gave her a staff and she started using that.

Yeah I really am looking forward to companion mods. Hopefully to increase the customization aspect of your companions.

Lydia for me is wielding a huge dwarven two handed axe (or was it orcish? Can't remember) that drains life upon being hit. It keeps her in the fight longer and makes her the proper protector rather than having me babysitting her.

Hell with that axe she has saved me multiple times, especially from this surprisingly tough bandit who was wielding a hammer that just seemed to kill me no matter what, even as a werewolf.

Not a Bethesda fan, but I'm enjoying this one.

If you can cope with the (expectedly) rather bland - although this time not dreadful - characters, dialogue and vanilla quests and also with a rather terrible, PC-unfriendly UI (the game feels a lot smoother when played with a Xbox controller), the world feels so vibrant and alive and huge and rich of things to do that it definitely got my attention for now. It just grabs you in spite of its flaws.

VA is nowhere near BioWare's levels, but at least it's not as laughable as it was in the previous game.

As far as sandbox RPG go, it's a pretty good one, certainly superior to stuff like Oblivion or the Fable series.

I'd love to see Bethesda allowing Obsidian a go in their universe.

Spoiler ahead...

Just to see what can happen with the Azura quest, I played both versions. Now I have to decide which one is more useful. I think there are more non-human victims, so the standard one looks appealing. But then again the black is guaranteed to capture a grand soul. :P I wonder if the black one can capture non-human souls. Time to figure that one out. ;)

BTW: Is the Skeleton Key in the game? :P

I'm looking for a handsome High Elf to marry. So far, there's only the Thalmor head honcho in Markarth... even though he likes my character, I'm guessing he's not eligible.

I had the dog at the very start and told him to wait in the Riverwood tavern. When I went back next morning he was gone and I've not seen him since. Does anyone know where he goes?

It happened to me a few times also, but I had some previous saves made. Skyrim wiki says he goes someplace unknown, probably disappears from the game world.

I think you can find other stray dogs through random encounters though.

I found him again up in the area with the hot springs not too far from Windhelm. It seems to be the same dog anyway.

IMHO the voice acting is amongst the worst I've heard; the main problem with Oblivion is that there were only 11 regular voice actors, but they were mostly pretty good.  The Skyrim ones are either miscast or have the "serious business" tone turned up to 11: it's all rather painful to listen to.  The kids in particular are horrible, I'm sad to say.

The menu system is even worse, it's the most abysmal interface I've ever encountered bar none.  It's just terrible.  And the game crashes as often as Oblivion, though that hardly comes as a surprise.

I have actually really enjoyed playing it, but those three issues and a bunch of other comparatively minor issues are rather irritating.

@vometia - I take it you're playing on PC? I saw this in an ign review last week (on page 3):

"The only downside of the PC version is the interface, which is elaborately presented and a breeze to use on consoles, but is inefficiently laid out for keyboard and mouse controls. To cut down on time spent in menus with both versions you can assign almost anything – armor, weapons, spells, shouts, pieces of meat – as a favorite. This menu can then quickly be brought up during a fight, pausing the action, so you swiftly adjust to the changing nature of a battle without having to page through the main menu system, though on PC an option to also bind items and spells to number keys would have been appreciated. (Edit: It turns out you can do this, just hit the number keys over items with your favorites menu open. Sorry for the mistake.)"

I'm on 360, so I disagree with your assessment regarding menus, but I understand and sympathize.

I've had one crash, but that's really pretty good for a Bethesda game.

LOL... I saw a video of a flight like this!

Veins shine when they are not depleted. But I keep rubbing my nose on mine walls to make sure there are no vein!

Yep, I can concur. The PC interface is a horrid mess. And its specifically because of its 'consolization.' It was clearly designed to be exceptionally streamlined for Consoles. In a way that beats PC users over the head repeatedly.

Also the crashing. I'm taking the time to type this after a random one.

So can I pimp lydia out in heavy dragon/daedric armor if I am a high level? I am level 33 as of now.

Also, Saartah of the Forbidden legends quest line; how do I get in, I rather not have to join the mages guild to get in.

I've got two women living in my house in Whiterun at the moment. Lydia and Aela the Huntress. one's my housecarl, the other's my wife.

I'm going on a quest to collect roomates.. I wonder if the game will let you have more than one housecarl.

You defend Dragon Age 2 regularly and complain about consolization?

Anyway, I don't have much of a problem with it. For those who don't know, you can link  weapons/spells to your hotkeys by simply bringing up the favourites menu (Q) and pressing any number. Press the same number twice if you want to 'dual-wield' a spell (while in combat).

Crashes happen but loading times are a breeze so I don't mind much.

The only problem I have with the UI (I'm on PC by the way) is the skill menu. That is not fun to navigate, but everything else I have seen no problems. Just happy we have hotkeys for map, journal, items, etc...

Lawl.

I hate the UI I have so much trouble just using a spell in both hands it becomes a frustrating process of equipping a a weapon in both hands replacing them one by one with a spell...though maybe I could be doing it wrong but with a controller all I have to do is press L or R trigger.
