Yeah, I am. I've heard that the menu works well on consoles, but for a PC game it's absolutely the most difficult and cumbersome I've yet encountered; it's not helped by the number of bugs, e.g. clicking on an option usually does nothing or selects something else at random (I'm not exaggerating with the "usually" either) and key remapping has fairly unpredictable effects, including some functions being wrongly labelled.happy_daiz wrote...
@vometia - I take it you're playing on PC? I saw this in an ign review last week (on page 3):
[snip]
I'm on 360, so I disagree with your assessment regarding menus, but I understand and sympathize.
I've had one crash, but that's really pretty good for a Bethesda game.
I've had a couple of dozen crashes so far, so about one every two hours; seems to be the same old memory bug from Oblivion (they lied about it being a new engine since it has quite a number of quirks that date back at least that far) but I've tried enabling the >2GB flag to see if that helps at all.
I'm genuinely enjoying the game a lot, but the user interface is hideous. And my wrist is starting to hurt from all the awkward mouse movements...

I tried letting a bandit yield to me, but when he recovered, he just started attacking again.

I can't believe that is still present. 4gig Skyrim.exe is a must for any PC user. The creation engine is just a spruced up Gamebryo is it not? Not exactly a new engine.

And you can find good story writing in an ES game, they're just not the main plot. I was shocked by how *good* the companions story line was, for example.
Bethesda has improved in that respect significantly with Fallout 3 imo (forgive my transgression, Troika/Black Isle purists), and I've always found the lore itself in TES games to be rich.

It seems to be a disappointing mechanic enemy-wise. They just take a quick breather. And of course I usually am mid swing when they do that anyways, so its too late to spare most of them. I wish they really did surrender.
It works better in (Brawl) fights. Since those are meant to be non-lethal.

How does yielding work with enemies, exactly?

I don't think that's possible. You just kill them.

I would argue that bethesda's "side quests" have always had good stories and fun situations. That boat inn sidequest in oblivion for example was great, or the quest with the artist and his magical paint.

Yeah the interface is annoying on pc and it has gotten to the point that I just use my 360 controller to play my pc game!
Also the memory bug? That might explain some of the crashes I have. For example there is this one specific dungeon where my game crases without fail every time in the same area. (bonechill pass I think its called) and my game has had a few intermitten crashes too.
I know the sound fix didn't help.

I'm having these C2D issues too. I suspect that it's some kind of memory bug, enabling the large memory address flag didn't help (though, I try bypassing the launcher now and use the flag directly to the game exe).

Notice anything odd about this list?
Every single race is represented... except Khajits.
No love for cat people it seems.
There's only one High Elf...and I'm betting it's a girl.

I saw one enemy that Lydia was fighting attempt to yield. I'm not sure what stopped her from finishing him but he then got up and tried to run away. She chased him but he dived into some water and stayed there, occassionally trying to escape until she chased him back in each time. He was hiding under a bridge, I eventually had to go in and flush him out to sate her blood lust so she would start moving again.
I seem to have misplaced my horse, I got off to fight Ice Wraiths and haven't seen it since. I suspect its dead. I spent more time trying to figure out where it ran to than I did riding it.

The only one so far in Skyrim that had me giggling was a spoof of 'The Hangover.' Where I wake up being yelled at by a priestess of Dibella for fondling the statuary. Not the first time I've been accused of fondling goddess statues in recent games. (the other being DA2)
Odd trend, but amusing.

If you own a horse, it will rejoin you automatically whenever you fast travel. (if you fast traveled to a town, check the stable outside.) If its a stolen horse, fast travel returns it to where you stole it. If neither of these things happened, it probably died.
