1) If I buy a new house, can I still use my old housecarl?

2) I need a yes or no answer to this one; is the thieves guild like a robin hood guild like oblivion? Again, just a yes or no. no spoilers or anything please.

1. Yes, the housecarl will remain in the house of their hometown. I.E. Lydia will stay in whiterun.

I got my Saints Row The Third and will be playing that, have fun with your skyrim.

My brother also bought the game and he's already at Alduin at Level 11.  All he's done is the main quests.  He didn't even know Alduin was the last boss.

Finally got this miserable P.O.S to work. Editing the Prefs.ini in the Steam document wasn't working. But if you go to Documents>My games>Skyrim and edit the Prefs.ini file that way, it works. For people who want to edit control settings, do it the through the latter file. Why tech support at Beth's forums doesn't mention this just blows me away. The community is tech support.

There is.  Go to Gameplay and hit Enter on the Xbox 360 Controller option and the X in the box will go away.

Because in each one, the Player character fulfills some part of a prophecy that originated in the Elder Scrolls although not sure about the Neverarine from Morrowind but quitwe true in Skyrim and Oblivion's case. I imagine the Elder Scrolls also had quite a big role in Daggerfall and Arena.

Depends on what kind of Armor you're going to use. I use Heavy Armor but Elven Greatsword is better than Orcish so I spent a point on Elven craft but all the other points on Heavy Armor and Magic too of course. I'm able to improve them to Epic now and I can't wait to remove the Cursed Ring of Hercine to use my Blacksmith Ring and see if I can improve them better.

I never use Daedric Gear, specially if they are as ugly as in the previous games. Ebony used to be the best for me and it delivered well but I'll try Dragon gear this time to see if it's any good (and beautiful).

Oh, and that's it. I've put all my gear in the chests at home and put on the Blacksmith Apron and a Leather Boots +35 Fortify Carry Weight and I'll be spending the rest of my days crafting weapons and brewing potions! Who cares about Dragons and Civil War? =)

that's exactly the reason for the Title.

and in Skyrim you.... well, i don't want to spoil anything, but i'll just say the elder scrolls have a more important role this time around.

This game, Ultra Settings with a few tweakings, runs at 30-40 FPS on my 2 yrs old system which is good but with a crappy GPX card! Amazing!

I left Whiterun for Makarath to smelt some ore, loot the house of the deceased Orc slaver, craft some items and when I come back there's an old perv in my house with my Lydia!!!

I found the butterfly too, it's now sitting pride of place on the table next to my bed in Whiterun .    

I had a dog companion, he got killed by a dragon or a giant.  After the fight I fast travelled and the dead dog was lying at my feet.  The option to talk to him was there so I did, I told him to go home, so off he went, sliding along the ground on his side.  silly bug made me laugh

Don't you hate when some perv moves in on your gal like that that there. I'm using Lydia as well currently. But right now I'm in a pickle and don't know which way to go. Has anyone here done the Azura shirine quest? If you have please do me a favor and Pm me as I've got a question for you in regards to that quest. There is two ways to end it and I'm not sure which way I want to end it.<G> 

BTW which Gems are better black soul gems or the regular soul gems?  Also how many companions are we allowed at a time? I've completed both ways but not sure how I want to continue the game.

Also I've seen folks here talking about the quick keys and I seen something in the little book about them. How do set them up and make them active in this game? 

Ok folks I've been playing the game since 1am or so yestarday non stop and my mouse is getting ready to die on me. So I'm going to put the mouse on the charger and get a few hours sleep and I'll check in when I get up. Take care and have fun playing the game.

BTW if you're a modded contact me I got some things you can fix if Bethesda or someone else don't do it first.<G>

Step-by-step guide to hotkeys in Skyrim:

1. Add whatever you want to hotkey to the favorites menu
2. Open the favorites menu (default Q)
3. Hover over the thing you want to hotkey
4. Press one of the numbers above qwerty. Works for 1-8

Voila. Hotkeyed.
Protip for spells --- double-tap a hotkey to put that spell in both hands.

Black Soul Gems are the same as Grand Soul Gems but they let you capture human(+other playable races) souls, IIRC from previous games.

One thing I'm finding kind of odd is that people somehow know I'm a Nord when I'm wearing a helmet that completely conceals my face... I also keep hearing people comment on the hair growing out of my ears even though they can't see them XD

The dwarvern -> orkish -> etc. route is the heavy armour one. Daedric armour is apparently the best in the game, even better than dragon.

Aww, M'aiq is around?! That's awesome.

I discovered that Lydia did not take kindly to me activating a flame sheath. I kill the undead and turn around to find her whaling on me with her biga-- axe. In defending Rorikstead from a dragon I also must have frozen one of their chickens, because they all started attacking me, too. It was a tough night. lol

I disabled 360 controller on the PC and the responsiveness doesn't change much.  I'm still hearing the same menu option 3 times trying to select the one beneath it.  It's really hit or miss which dialogue option I'm going to end up selecting.  Adds a certain spontaneity to conversations, but.... verrry frustrating.  I hope they patch.  It's like the cursor is too big or something.

in skyrim an elder scroll said that alduin would return once the prophecy's of the other games were furfilled, and the civil war in skyrim started (you can also see the staff of chaos from arena, the numidium from daggerfall, red mountain from morrowind and an oblivion gate on the wall)

Haha, I guess Bethesda didn't think about it. Same thing happened to my Dunmer in Markath inn, she was wearing a full helm and yet the drunk there started picking on her because she was a Dark Elf.

Finally levelled up enough to defeat a giant, I came upon their camp in the wilderness and took one down with three arrows + stealth and another one with a single dagger backstab.
That was so satisfying after all the grief they gave me.

It is easy to know the races even with full helmet. Try and you'll see you can tell what they are when you meet NPC's fully helmet too! The hair is a bit of too much though.. hehe

M'aiq is still "lying" around!

We can navigate any menu with awsd, including conversation. The directional arrows on the KB also work. E is the main key for everything. E is the new Left Click. Press E to enter the conversation, after pressing E to talk to someone, navigate and press E to select the line you want. Also works for most confirmation comands with two exceptions I noticed.

1. When storing items in chests/companions/dead bodies for instance, with more than 6 units, E does not confirm. Must hit Enter. But when getting the items from those things, E does confirm.

2. When Yes or No confirmation is required, E does not work but Y and N do.

4th Dragon, 3rd random, fried bandits in the open and went after a pair of mammoths! hahaha Before I could kill it! My new companion (forced upon me by the first real Companion quest) lured it to the beasts after the bandits were roasted! Smart guy! =)

Blimey it is hard to be thief.


Not that is hard to steal, but it's hard to sell all that stuff.
And so far only fence for that is in thieves guild, can only afford to 1000 gold and can glitch by having 0 gold if you reload save if you accidentally sell wrong item since UI suck for that.
