Barbas is the best tank in the game but he's too OP because he's invincible, so I had to get rid of him.

Also, he barks in your ear all the time and never shuts up.

He'll push you off a cliff or over an edge if you aren't careful as well lol.

Yep, the cheeky bastard killed me several times by pushing me into the ice storm barrier on High Hrothgar

Frost Atronach for LI. Seriously, it's so overpowered it's not even funny. I shudder to think how much of a badass the Storm Atronach must be. Shudder with pleasure, of course.

Urgh, I really don't like the look of the daedric and elven stuff- all that spikiness, blecch. I might end up wearing steel the whole game. I'll be disappointed if there isn't some classic looking Nord set, especially since I like the ancient Nord weapons.

I liked the steel plate armor, but I just couldn't pass up the stats.

I will pass up the stats.  Image IPB

The Wolf Armor had promise, but the female version unfortunately has brassiere plate and I can't stand that.

Was just wandering about when I saw a Dragon Shrine. I decided to investigate and killed the Dragon guarding it. When I approached the Shrine, however, a Lich named Krosis rose out of a coffin and attacked my sorry level 4 ass. I died within seconds. After reloading, I instantly ran up a nearby cliff after awakening him. This was the start of a missile duel between me and him which lasted for 4 in-game hours and cost me 80 arrows before finally downing him. Got a pretty cool mask out of it, though, so it was worth it.

So Far I'm taking a break from Skyrim for HALO CE and SRTT, but one thing I found to be crappy, was in a bounty quest I had to kill a Dragon. No biggie I've killed 12 of them so far, but lo and behold I reach the spot to fight him and some undead Wizard pops out of the ground with this golden facemask on, the pair nearly killed me, till I took out the wizard, then the Dragon was History once I got it to land. But yes lots of ambushes and traps can just come out of no place in that game. Still its rather enjoyable.

No idea how the storm is with normal enemies, but he is good support when fighting a centurion.

I've seen two Storm Atronachs battling each other. Pretty amazing sight.

It works the other way for me.  I try to lead Lydia around traps, but it doesn't always work, and my habit of gamboling in Oblivion has run us into the harsh laws of physics in Skyrim.  It's a long, long way down off some of those mountains.  *crunch*

Am I the only one who wants a roll left/right mechanic for my character when in third person? Sure would come in handy with charging beasties and such.

Well, there's the silent roll, but you can't do it sideways =/

I really wish that you could at least somehow protect yourself from a giants smash xD

I'm level 20-something and that Lich still kicked my arse, it killed my follower and only Shadomere saved me as i ran for my pathetic life down the hill.

On a side note: Does anyone else Daedric armour is kind fo useless? Fully upgraded its the same as Dragonbone armour and much harder to get, the only plus is that it makes you look kind of like Sauron

So like in FO: New Vegas, you could as the PC "create" your backstory by selecting different dialog options if someone asked about your past. Is this possible in Skyrim? Is there anyway you can get to know your character, who he/she is, why he's doing this, how he was born/raised etc.

A big reason why I enjoy RPG is the way I can connect to my PC and to get to know him/her better. So is this possible, or am I just playing a random guy who happens to be Dragonborn?

There is no backstory for your PC, unless you feel like writing something yourself, just like in NWN and all other Elder Scrolls games. But seriously, the New Vegas PC wasn't really a character either. All you could do is make some random comments about your past which had no effect on the game and were never mentioned again. Your backstory will be as meaningless in Skyrim as it was there.

All of this is true but I should add that there are 2 solid unchangable facts for your player character:
  • You are the dovakhin (obviously)
  • You are entering Skyrim illegally from your homeland (Cyrodil for Imperials, High Rock for Bretons, etc.)
Of course a little bit of headcannon could fix this.

I don't think you're entering illegally? You're just in the wrong place at the wrong time and get mistaken for a Stormcloak.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Until I actually do join the Stormcloaks.

I witnessed Aela dodging her way through a flame jet trap on her own just before she did the silent roll. I was well impressed until she got stuck in an empty corridor moments later. That seems to happen alot. They have trouble following me down cliffs when I pick my way down by sliding and jumping but will often come running down several seconds from some mysterious path that I couldn't see.

I managed to get Lydia to use a suit of Elven armour, a scale helmet(yes she looks like an idiot but its all I could find), an ebony sword with +11 fire enchant and an elven bow upgraded to flawless with +11 lightning enchant. But she won't use the flawless elven shield I gave her. I suspect its to do with my block skill being quite low but I'm not sure.

I noticed that while enchanting just having a filled grand soul gem in my inventory makes my enchanting better for some reason, even if I don't use it.

Yeah, I don't think there are any immigration laws...

Also...no fast travel is a great way to play. I recommend it.

I've finally got the whole Legendary Daedric Armor and Weapon set. Win.

Also received this special Daedric Artifact in a sidequest which is a helmet that gives me 20% better buying and selling prices along with 10+ skill in Speech and 5% more magicka regen.

Don't care about the regen, I'm all about that 20%. The long way to 100,000 gold is going to be that much shorter now.

Loving every bit of Skyrim already :) (Except for the PC Menu controls) I've also noticed that NPCs now sound more unique unlike the same person you had just talked to.

Some of the races only have one voice for each male and female for the non critical ones. But those races are the ones that are less common.

Found out Alduin is like Seethe The Scaless in Dark Souls: you giht him one time then he flees and you got to track him down again.

How long does it take to get smithing from 15 - 30?

Um a slight lore question. Was the Infernal City counted as canon? I've heard the Dunmer came seeking refuge from "The Great Disaster". Nothing about Argonian conquest so far.
