I really dislike quests with someone "helping" me or a rescue mission. I had a rescue mission in which the baddies turned hostile to the hostage as soon as I showed up. The hostage was killed, so I had to do that last part again and "distract" them. In the end I was lucky, though. The first try I was infected by a vampire. The second time that one died first. :P

HAHA yeah I was helping the guy save his daughter from the Forsworn (northeast of Harkarth) and as soon as we geet to the place he runs in and I don't see him again.  I kill everyone in the keep save the daughter and find myself outside up the top area.
Next thing I hear her go "oh no this can't be happening"  I look over to her and see her looking down at his body :\\
Its his own damn fault if he had stayed with me he'd be alive right now.

I have a question. Can someone explain to me the mechanic behind raising your heavy armor skill? It seems to be entirely random, and strictly based on you letting yourself get hit, without blocking.

It really makes me sad, but it doesn't work like that....and (because they'll explain it better)

At least I'm not the only one having a problem with it, though, because the Beth forums are crazy.

About magic scaling: There are perks which do that. For an example there is one which improves the fire damage by 50%. That's not bad. There are also perks to reduce the mana cost. So your magic skills do improve by perks, but you have to invest in that. If progress is made automagically then a lot of perks will be gone.

Yes, the more damage you take while getting hit, the higher your heavy armor skill goes.

You can also go find a trainer and spend some monies instead. If you want, I can tell you where the Heavy Armor master trainer is.

Yes, it's not quite random, rather it's supposed to correlate to learning how to survive attacks while wearing heavy armor, so the higher damage you take, the more your skill improves. At least that's how it is working for me with light armor, which I assume is the same.

I fought a Dragon from within Riverrun and it would only land on the roofs. It was annoying. I refuse using spells or bow to attack my targets. Nords crush things with big swords, axes or warhammers!

And this is definitely the most beautiful armor set for me, from all pics I've seen here, and will be my final one too. I too play 99.9% on 3rd person view and armor appearance has a major part on it.

That armor set looks slick and awesome. Can Argonians wear full helmets like this one?

That looks cool, RageGT. :)

I just switched to scaled armor. I hope there is glass armor in the game. I haven't seen it yet.

Yes we can... And if it weren't for our big long tails we could pass as any other race.

Well, that just seems silly to me, as it punishes you for  having a decent armor rating,  and you know, being  a good warrior  all around (blocking, repositioning  in combat, killing people quickly).  If what you're saying is true, I should probably dump my *good* armor and just find some cheap iron gear to put on... and  then stop blocking, and pretty much fight like an idiot.    I'll take more damage that way, and thus raise my Heavy armor skill faster.

I'm not exactly sure, but it probably takes into account the damage negated by the armor rating.

So if you take 100 damage, but 50 is negated by your armor, I imagine it would go toward improving your Heavy Armor skill more than if you just received 50 net damage while wearing weaker armor.

Not sure... Are battlemages effective in heavy armor? I'd think so because they tend to be the frontlines combat/magic class.

Question about the story... was Talos worship banned in the Empire because the Elves can't stand a human as a divine? That's my best guess.

Oh, thought that was easy to identify. It's a full set of Ebony Armor, all at Legendary level, only the Helmet is not enchanted yet. Couldn't find anything other than water breathing to enchant helmets, well, that and spell cost reduction.. perhaps I'll disenchant some Restoration cost reduction item. =)

I managed to get it to land in the middle of town and now whenever I'm at Riverrun the bones are still there...  Image IPB

Those Forsworn jokers killed my horse and tried to run away. I have been on a killing rampage amongst them for the past twenty minutes.

something funny happened while I was playing a few hours ago. I was getting attacked by big ice troll and right in the middle this guy comes up and asks me to hold this for him and the troll just turns around and swipes him with a paw and kills him with one shot.

Oooh, what Armour is that?
Oh and I found a nice Ebony sword which does 24 damage, definetly a keeper. And after 25 levels I finally figured out how enchanting works.

It's a full Ebony set, Andarthiel. Ebony has always been the most beautiful set in TES games since MW which was my first. =) (My Ebony Sword does 106 dmg plus the enchantment =)

Now, a bit of a spoiler but no so much. Some quest in Morthal is EXACTLY the same, even some of the lines, (if not all, can't remember that much) of one quest in Ultima IX Ascension! I see it as some homage to Ultima, isn't it?
