Skyrim has taught me exactly how easily distracted I am.

I don't think I've -ever- made it to a quest objective that I intended to go to without at least a dozen detours as shiny things pop up on my compass. Someday, I'll actually finish a questline. Someday..

Just wait John, I have over forty Misc. quests in my start screen and they just keep piling up. Kinda makes some of the more "urgent" sidequests a little less impactful. :P

I certainly know that feeling.

I think I played for about 10 or 15 hours before I even managed to complete one quest, not counting the tutorial.

Agreed. I have so many miscellaneous quests open that I can't remember who gave them to me, or what the point of each one was. Oops. Image IPB

My goal each night seems to be cleaning out my list, but I usually end up with more on it.

Yeah same here. I wish there was more detail in the quest screen rather than just "Return to Big Kev with the sombrero." I'm often sat there wondering who the hell Big Kev is.

I'm incapable of walking past a location on the map without exploring it. I thought I'd walk to my destination last night before knocking it off for the evening. It should have been a 5 minute journey that took me well over an hour.

I've managed to force myself to mark an area on the map so I can fasttravel to it later if need be, while still walking to where I need to go.

Skyrim has a good world map, but I found better ;)
Some of you might know about this "ubermap", but it's really cool.
If you want to see it write on google search skyrim ubermap and klick the first link to youtube.
You can download it directly here:

http://www.skyrimnex...file.php?id=145

So, what do you think? Tell me ;)

I have other thread where you can also find this!

^but even that doesn't make it much easier later on, when you've done a ton of exploring and the world map has a bajillion different location makers on it, and finding where the quest arrow is on the map ends up being hard to do

But whatever.  I learned a long time ago to  scrap that mindset with ES games and just go where the wind takes me.  You don't get "exp" for completing quests anyway, you just get some money, or the occasional  magic item.    So I just go exploring, and if I end up stumbling upon  a quest  location, I'll do it.  if not,  then I'll just do what I want.

I've got so many Miscellaneous Quests piled up and I still find myself exploring unmarked ruins. My inventory is full of quest items I don't have quests for, lol.

Thanks Nash, I'll give that a shot if I continue to experience issues.

Haha, me too.

I need to focus sharply for not yielding to the temptation and to follow the quests now.

Also, The Thalmor are very BADASS. I want to be a Thalmor... B)

I think that journalist from game informer said it best: Skyrim... You're Dragonborn, embarking on an epic quest to- ooh a butterfly.

Have you guys seen the red and blue markers on the Imperial maps? (I'm sure you have).

Last night I noticed that if you look at one of those maps up close, and click on each location, it supposedly adds a new location to your map. It didn't look to me like it actually worked, though. What is the point?

Edit: Nevermind; I found this:

You'll pick up points of interest on you overland map through conversations, but there's at least one place in the game where you can add several all at once. In Mistveil Keep (Jarl's court) in Riften, there's a room to the left behind the throne room with a map that displays which towns are controlled by the Imperial forces and which are controlled by the Stormcloaks. There is also a map available in Whiterun (up the staircase to the right past where the Jarl sits).  You can add all of these towns to your own map by clicking on them. It doesn't allow you to fast travel if you haven't found them yet, but at least you'll know where they are.
In fact there are several of these rooms all over Skyrim, in particular every single Jarl's court has one, as well as many of the major military points in the game.

Lol, I take a quest that requires me to have a new companion and Lydia goes away. I look all over, go to dragonreach and she's not there in the hall. I give up, and go to my first house to get my shield out the chest because I may have to be the tank.

There she is eating lol.

I have to say it again, the NPC ambiant responses to what's going on around them is such an amazing touch of flavor.

-I'm an orc, and in the middle of a fight with an orc bandit I hear him say: "time to show you how a REAL orc warrior fights".

-I have a flaming weapon. I unsheathed it in Whiterun, and heard a little kid say "Mom said we shouldn't play with fire!"

-if you wear imperial or stormcloak armor, people will  comment on it
-if you walk around  naked, they will comment on it.

Well go there with all haste, you can get 3 free shout upgrades from there.
And 7000 steps (they are not kidding...) is just beatiful.
Beware of Ice trolls and ice bears tough :)

Three? I just got one. Hhmm I shall have to go back and see what I missed.

There's no set number, and going back won't help you.

What happens is that  when you make your initial visit to the Graybeards they  "upgrade" every shout you have by one..

The poster you're quoting must have unlocked 3 shouts  before going up there,  so the greybeards upgraded each of them.  And you must have only had one shout.

I had 4 when I went.   :)  and each of them got upgraded to level 2.

Really?

Well ****........I went with only one...

As to quests I had enough of picking them up and just stoped going to other towns or talking to people untill I finish all of the ones I have minus the main story ones. Then I'll go to each area and see what I can do.

Also, something really funny. Facing a powerful ennemy,  I called a dremora as invocation, and he turned against me, then he killed me with his sword.

" It was a necessity. " he screamed.

I do not know why,  but it's true that the enemy was really powerful and really weakened him with its flames. :D

The Thalmor are a bunch of dicks, but boy do they know how to dress.

In other news (SPOILERS for the College of Winterhold and a certain NPC named Barbas):

- I am now Archmage of the College. Ancano turning into a monologuing, mustache-twirling villain was as enjoyable as it was cheesy. The whole "yaaay, we're making you archmage even though you've only been here for nine days" thing felt rather weird too, but I suppose ending the questline any other way would have felt unrewarding. Oh and Labyrinthian was simply a perfect example of great dungeon design.

- Oh my God. Barbas. So random. He acts like he belongs in Fallout more than in TES, and I love him for it.

END SPOILERS

Quick question: can followers contract vampirism?

Whiterun.   it's in one of the two taverns there.  can't remember which one.  Some guy challenges you to a drinking contest.

So last night, I was out trekking the swamps near Morthal, and I find the Apprentice Stone. I apply it (stupidly), and discover that it's not a great stone. It actually reduces magic resistance. So then, I find a fort that's infested with necromancers, and I get shot with their crazy ice spikes, and die.

I re-load, and go elsewhere from the stone, and am attacked by a dragon. Suddenly, this dog comes out of nowhere and helps in the fight. He looked fine the whole time, and on the kill blow to the dragon, I look over and see the dog laying on his side, dead. His name was Meeko. I found his owner's shack, and felt terrible that I'd let the owner's dog die. I re-loaded and haven't been back.

Poor Meeko. Image IPB
