Steal the items or the materials to make your own?

What if I don't want to steal because it doesn't fit the character that I'm roleplaying (I'm sort of a paladin-like Breton, paladins don't steal imo).

Take a pickaxe with you as you explore.. I haven't done much in terms of enchanting or smithing so thats the best I can think of.

But with a pickaxe you can only mine ores, right? So, you can actually CREATE soul gems with ores? Or what? As far as I know, you can only buy soul gems or loot them from wizards/mages/necromancers.

I don't know if you can make soul gems are not... I'm thinking not. The only ones I got are from ones I find.

You can mine soul gems in Blackreach (Dwemer ruins).
Just mine "Geode Vein" like any other vein.

Bloody hell yes.

Still could use some work, but is definetly an improvement for the current UI!

People will find a way. They will always find a way.

Though in all seriousness, I am looking forward to some form of armour mod giving them a more medieval historical feel rather than the vanilla armours.

Although after the 6-7th dragon killed their attacks become repetitive, I have to say that including random, non-scripted attacks was a stroke of genius.

For example, the game triggered an attack as I was preparing to infiltrate an enemy embassy and I had given away all my inventory. A jerk move, but I was indeed taken by surprise. I died, reloaded a previous save, and this time it didn't happen. I was also attacked in the courtyard of the Mage Academy while things weren't going exactly well there... again, I was in the middle of a crisis and kicking the dragon in the stage at that point was quite a twist. This kind of unpredictability is a good thing.

Also, early in the game I witnessed in the frozen wilderness a duel between a dragon and a giant, and the latter smashed the beast with his club as I was hiding behind a tree and the soundtrack roared "Dovahkiin! Dovahkiin!", so maybe the giant would be a better dragonborn. Image IPB

Maybe a nude mod but that's about it. Like I said, no toolset = no XxX animation changers.
Same story with Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas.;)

You think the vanilla armours don't have a historical medieval feel? Except for the most epic armors (Glass, Dragon and Daedric), the armors look really cool, medieval and nordic!

Seriously, I don't see how you can make the standard armours EVEN MORE medieval than they already are. Keep in mind though that the armours are inspired from the old vikings. All the Nordic armours are similar to what the vikings used back in the days. I think the vanilla armours look great and really realistic (with the exception of Glass and everything above that).

I was referring to the more elaborate armours' like you said, like daedric and dragon armours. Of the armours i've actually come across though in my game (i'm really early in the game) they feel very realistic, it's just from the images i've seen of the higher tier ones, they seem to have more of that typical fantasy appearance.

btw, is there a way to hide helmets at all? I got a pretty decent one but it looks ugly as sin so I don't want to wear it

There will be one. Actually, I think yesterday some files(supposedly from the Creation Kit) were being uploaded into the skyrim directory, albeit encrypted for now.:wizard:

Disenchanting magical item works nicely.
And  you can always go to trainer and train Enchanting 5 times / level.

And remember - before making some bigger disenchanting/enchanting - first go to The Mage Stone and activate it (magic skills improve 20% faster) then sleep in your house for at least 8 hours (that will give you another +10% boost for 8 hours - "Well rested" status)

This!
I use Leather Bracers to enchant. Just crafted 60 of them to see how close to 100 I get.  (81 atm) Leather is free and plentiful. Use all Petty, Lesser and Common Soulgems already filled that you can find exploring and in Stores. They're cheap.

I use the Lover's Stone permanently though. 15% faster to all Skills. And disenchanting. Disenchant all you will like to use and all you haven't learned yet.  Recharging items with soulgems also increases Enchanting. (My Greatsword has only 120 charges.)

Nope, Skyrim is "realistic", so it doesn't have a hide-helmet option. If you don't want the helmet, don't wear it. Sure, you'll miss out on the stats of the helmet, but yeah, tough luck...

Yeah, except I'm a werewolf, so I that 10% "well rested" bonus is something I can't get. <_<

And no, I don't want to give up on being a werewolf. My werewolf form is my main way of transportation across the lands of Skyrim. I swear, sprinting goes so amazingly fast as a werewolf!

Other than that, great tips! Thanks!

PS: So that training a skill from a trainer is 5x for every level? I thought that you could only train a skill 5 times per trainer in total.

Aw boy, 112 hours and I still haven't come nowhere near Winterhold and Dawnstar...

While there is some scaling in the game, it is not uniform throughout all the locations. There are caves/dungeons/quests near every major city I've been which were designed for low level charsm, in case the player wanted to start from that city.

But there are also places with no combat, at least on the first visit, that make me wish I would stay there for the rest of the game. If only there were some forge, enchanting and alchemist tables and a cooking pot in that sanctuary...

(The quality of what I see in game is way better than what I can capture with fraps! Is there a better screenshots mode to use?)

Some how, the Cheese Eater survived being thrown off a mountian...I'm wonderind if this is due to difficulty setting or that I didn't dismiss her...

Anyways I've went back to playing, and the marriage aspect of the game seems rather pointless minus some gold and food. More so given alot of the NPCs you have no option to have fallow you, or a "sex" option, for a well rested bonus like in F:NV. But that is a side add on and a first time, I just hope we get a patch or DLC to expand on this.

Like Kids for some of the couples, or quests centerd around it, such as I being married to Sylgja, it would be nice if she asked me to deliever a letter to her folks again, or asked to move some place closer to her family. Or even if some group or cult or another decided to threaten or kidnapped your LI and you had to save them or pay a ransome. You know something to give "Puprose" to that aspect of the game. So far the only thing that happens is

"I'm happy to see you my love" *Gives money, Gives food, silence* "Good bye my love" Thats rather bland and boring in a manner.

Also why can't I buy a damn house in riftin yet?

Take lossless screenshots (.bmp, .tga, .png) instead of .jpg with fraps. When you resize your pictures and save 'em into jpg format disable chroma subsampling (better quality and larger size) and use progressive encoding (smaller size but no same quality). Use png if the size is reasonable and when saving in jpg, do not ruin the picture by compressing it too much.

You can train 5 times / lvl. There is no limit on how many times in total you can train at the same trainer.  You can go back to the same trainer on every new lvl and 5train for another 5 skill points.

But there is a skill lvl cap.

Journeyman trainer can train you only up to 50
Expert up to 75
Master up to 90

Have you tried using Steam's screenshot function? (F12 button)

Spoiler ahead!

We get to go to Sovengard and we don't get to have a conversation with Shor. Let me say that again. We get to go to frakking Sovengard and we don't get the chance to have a conversation with frakking Shor! Anger builds. Oh, it does.
The place was pretty but Shor was there! We get no conversation like the one with Vivec or even Camoran. We just have to go blow at fog with three random douchebags. :|
