@Lestatman, companions can die for good but I think only against very powerful opponents like bosses type Dragons. They do tend to disappear because their path finding is not as free and crazy as a player's can be. If you fast travel somewhere, she should appear next to you. Try travelling to the mark on the map where you are. Crazy game let us do that.
Not sure if it would work if you told her to wait or go home. She should be home in any case.

What level are you?
Also, I'm not sure, but it would appear if you visit every town before leveling up pretty high, you might have to make the higher level armors. I mean, I got to the level where elven stuff show up and appeared in White Run and they had an ebony shield but not the other ebony stuff I saw in another character where I got to level 77 before showing up there.
Then when I raised my level higher, I left and came back and the store was still selling the same stuff. Though I did not check to see if going somewhere else, resting for a day and then returning changed his items, could have just been you need to wait some time.
As for finding it, I have no clue, my guess is on the higher level story missions.
i'm like ... level 5
also, does joining the legion screw me over if perhaps I want to own land and rule it and that kind of thing? it's said to be a lifetime commitment, but if I want to pick up work in another organisation, i'd rather just reload now while i'm still early on rather than playing on and finding myself gimped.

Sweet, thanks. Like I said, I didn't know if you had to wait some time or to leave the city entirely.
I was using cheats in that game and I was finished with what I was testing out, so I didn't check to see if waiting changed the inventory. Good to know that it does.
Also, how often does a merchant get more money?

Oooh, snowberries.
It wasn't until I'd reached out and almost grabbed a few that I realised what I was doing. Bloody Skyrim is messing with my head. It's probably just as well I didn't pass by a beehive.

The problem with the pics that printscreen creates in this game is that they're over 5 megabytes, which means you can't upload them to image shack or to your screenshot folder here at BSN.
Anyway... Question:
Anyone else here not noticing any difference in power between the different dragons in the game? I just killed anelder dragon, and he was no more difficult to kill than the standard frost dragons or Blood dragons I've been facing.
Try an Ancient Dragon. I found a couple and they were tough.

speaking of the nexus, has skyrim had any porn mods made for it yet?
Without the toolset? No.
People will find a way. They will always find a way.
Though in all seriousness, I am looking forward to some form of armour mod giving them a more medieval historical feel rather than the vanilla armours.
You think the vanilla armours don't have a historical medieval feel? Except for the most epic armors (Glass, Dragon and Daedric), the armors look really cool, medieval and nordic!
Seriously, I don't see how you can make the standard armours EVEN MORE medieval than they already are. Keep in mind though that the armours are inspired from the old vikings. All the Nordic armours are similar to what the vikings used back in the days. I think the vanilla armours look great and really realistic (with the exception of Glass and everything above that).
I was referring to the more elaborate armours' like you said, like daedric and dragon armours. Of the armours i've actually come across though in my game (i'm really early in the game) they feel very realistic, it's just from the images i've seen of the higher tier ones, they seem to have more of that typical fantasy appearance.
btw, is there a way to hide helmets at all? I got a pretty decent one but it looks ugly as sin so I don't want to wear it
And I love the Daedric armor, so what? The textures on the lower tier items suck, but for the higher tier items it looks like they made the textures better.
Also, how do you make realistic dragon armor?

I just went to Riverwood again to visit that merchant that taught my 2nd level character how to forge an iron dagger. he's now selling ebony and glass gear.

I think I might be looking at an armor rating greater than 1000 by the time I've got a full set and upgraded each piece.

PS: I have no idea why you people here are so against any type of gear that isn't ebony. I just got my first piece of Daedric armor. It's the best looking armor I've seen in this game so far. Oh, and it's almost twice as powerful as that ebony crap I've been wearing for the last 20 game hours, and I've yet to even improve it to epic/legendary.

I thought the Daedric Armor made me look like so sort of demon or something. I just didn't like the look. It's the strongest in the game though. I still have no idea why Dragonbone requires a higher smithing level but has lower stats. I've made a set of everything but glass so far. I haven't even unlocked glas yet.

Of course it has higher AC but it makes no difference really. At 42, I'm training heavy armor with Trolls. They hit, skill improves with each hit and health doesn't move at all! Plus Ebony Set looks better! I love Black Armors! hehe Daedric is awful, always has been, always will be. Because of its origins. It's forged from chaos.
I'm really mad of how ugly they managed to make Glass Armor. The one in Oblivion with a mod to make it black was simply gorgeous!

Pfft Heavy Armor is for babies who can't take a hit. Light armor ftw.

Edit: It's called Ancient Nord Armor and it's under Daedric for some reason. There's also another dragur category at the Skyforge as well.

i use the fireball spell and the skyforge steel war axe now at lvl 12, my armor is steel (no enchantments) and i havent really made anything yet (potions, food, weapons, armor). should i try making better armor and weapons? should i keep going as a spellsword or use either melee or spells?

Really? I'm playing a battlemage right now (As an Argonian, not a lot of magic) with a Bow on expert, and I seem to be doing fine with humanoid enemies (except Draugr bosses). If anything, Trolls and Dragons are of my most concern.marbatico wrote...
i'm getting to a point in the game where i feel i've screwed up a bit because i keep getting owned by your average dungeon enemy. it feels lika it was a stupid idea to make my character a spellsword.

Battlemages and Spellswords are often supposed to be in the front lines. You should use heavy armor and any spell enhancements your can find (Like a hood).

Is it just me or is magic underpowered in this game?
With my Nord and his trusty Greatsword I have no problems at all.
With my Breton Battlemage I just hope that any simple Enemy loses at least 50% health before my mana runs dry. And by the eight divines, if anything comes into close combat I'm dead.
Maybe I'm just laking spells that pack a punch.

It's just not as annoyingly bulky-looking as ebony is. it's much slimmer. And it has a demonic theme to it. I think that's why I like it better. My Orc looks like nightmarishly badass in it.

I created my first PC, and chose not to go with Tigger; selected the Breton instead for Magic Resistance May alter this, but the plan is to be a versatile Mage/ Archer.
I plan to wait to play much at all until after the first patch release to avoid Tech issues, so I thought I would catch up with intel first.
Like many here, am having some problems navigating the UI. The manual says that the 'F' key toggles 1st/ 3rd person view, but this ain't working. What is the real answer?
And where do folks go for accurate info besides this single thread?
Edit: Been trying here thus far:

Spellsword is a swell build, and though destruction will epicly suck after level 30, it shouldn't right now...You should probably start upgrading your gear if things are hard all-around the game. You can't screw up in this game really. All you have to do is give something a go and you'll be better at it.

When people can't be actually bothered to read the description past the 2nd sentence before throwing wild assumptions around. Joke's on you.
Can't comment on this one, scrolling works for me.Tried it out, in my opinion it's even worse than the old one. I can't
even scroll to the different catagories of my inventory while shopping.
But it could indeed use some more polishing, since it seems to be a simple hack and slash without the Creation Kit.
However, I like how it actually shows the stuff in the usual table style ala Oblivion instead of the oversized Skyrim one.
