I'm not sure I enjoy the Dark Brotherhood's armor, though it does help with me looking badass. Do we get the robes that the others are wearing down the line? Those look cooler.

Guess I needed to get out off the initial staging area first. Thanks!
Is there a respec funtion? Or will I need to wait for a mod?
Do spellbooks of the same spell increase the power? Or is it a waste of gold?
Thanks folks!
-No respec yet as far as I know.
-You read a spellbook once to learn the spell. After that you can't read the same book anymore, and they are therefore useless to you.

I don't like how you have to get the Soul Stealer perk (which is useless to me since I'm not interested in enchanting) to get the Oblivion Binding one (which allows your bound weapons to do all sorts of cool sh*t).

They aren't givien to you. But if you look around the Sanctuary in the Waredrobes, on the shelves, and in the drawwers I found a the whole set. I also found a cowl without the mask part.

I actually like the other one better personally

I finally killed my first frost troll. It felt magnificent. Also did anyone find the encounter where you get all three words of power for throw voice hard? I'm not talking about the dragon but that wraith or whatever. I actually had to turn god mode to kill it.
The shout throw voice? Troll bait!!!
When I went there I had to fight 2 Dragon plus the wraith ... I have to admit I dropped the difficulty lol. It's was either that or to drink all of my potion. But the shout is just epic and you can spam it.
Troll Bait!!
Slug Breath!
Ugly!
I Finaly fought Alduin and the fight was Epic but he's such a ****. Elder Dragon give me much more trouble.

The main deal with Smithing is that you can improve your weapons and armor. And with conjuration you can create a daedric weapon, if I'm not mistaked, for a limited time. And if you have high enough smithing to make daedric, you can improve your weapons and armor to exquisite or flawless, which adds about 15-16 armor or damage to them. So smithing.
And yes, smithing is a little bit overpowered. I'm level 32 and running in Legendary Dragonscale armor. My companion has legendary dragonbone armor.
My gripe with smithing armor is that I don't need it. The Dark Brotherhood armor's served me well so far (and it looks spiffy), so smithing some for myself would be a waste.I do like the thought of creating a flawless daedric bow though. Decisions decisions.
Can't you use smithing to improve the dark brotherhood armor?

I actually like both Thieves Guild quest line armors much better then Dark BH.
Espcially Nightingale armor plus artifact masks looking badass!

IMO, Jenassa is the best companion so far, especially if you are playing as a dark elf. It was a bit annoying to hear the Nord companions shout "Skyrim for the Nords!"
However, I wonder if any of the Orc ladies from the Orc village are willing to travel with you?
Word of caution: Storm Call is a great dragon shout, but tell your companion to wait far away before using it. They will die unless they have some kind of shock resistance.

I've been planning to marry her, and was wondering what would happen with Aerin. So if you bring her along as a follower, does he come along, or stay at your house?
I can't believe you killed him.

If she can die, then I won't use her to follow me around. I couldn't live with myself if she, voiced by Cindy Robinson, died.

Except for Barbas, and perhaps some other temporary companions related to quests, it seems that all the companions can die, but this is implemented very well.
What happens is that when any companion gets very low on health, they fall to their knees, trying to catch their breath. At this point most enemies stop trying to attack them.
If they are hit by enemies or friendly fire at this point, they will die. Otherwise, they will catch their breath and start fighting again after around 30 seconds.
Barbas is invincible while he's traveling with you, he never takes any damage at all.

They can die. When they get down in health, they go to one knee but eventually if the PC doesn't step in or if they take friendly fire, they perma-die. It's worth it to get Healing Hands spell. They seem to revive quickly.RPGamer13 wrote...

Oh Lydia. Poor poor Lydia.
I gave her a Staff of Bolts that does 40 lightning damage with every hit. She now runs across the country behind me zapping everything that comes into her sight. I'm beginning to regret that...

Indeed. I can't tell you how many times I've re-loaded to save Lydia from certain death. Oh, and the "Heal Other" spell is quite handy in times like those. It's like Fast Healing, but as the name implies, it's for others, and is faster than Healing Hands. I think I had to get to Adept level before I could find it for sale anywhere.
I've only used Cosnach and Lydia; are any of the others worth checking out? My character is a Breton battlemage, so I'd like another tank, but I'm curious about the mages for hire.

I enchanted an ebony mace with Soul Trap and gave it to her, and she's been going to town. I had around 50 empty soul gems that are all full, now. We have a system, Lydia and I: I give her empty gems, she fills them, and I enchant the crap out of everything.

Also Aela the Huntress can not die as far as I know, during the battle of Whiterun she got stuck in a alcove of respawing guards and kept on going down, but not dead, as she kept on getting up without me healing her.
