My character is a Breton battlemage, so I'd like another tank, but I'm curious about the mages for hire.

The 3 Apprentice Mages at the college will act as followers if you help them out. There's also a Priest of Mara you'll meet in Dawnstar who you can get as a follower if you complete the Nightmares quest.

Yep, I've met them (I am the Arch Mage of the college) Image IPB, but I was just curious if anyone else had any experience with the other mages - specifically, Marcurio, Illia, and Aranea.

That video is hilarious.  We need a "rescue follower" shout.

I've only used Cosnach and Lydia; are any of the others worth checking out? My character is a Breton battlemage, so I'd like another tank, but I'm curious about the mages for hire.

I have been sampling the cute Nord men (priorities lol) but haven't tried Onmund- he's a mage at the college.  Vorstag is adorable and a good tank.  Erik the Slayer is also cute and more of a ranged guy.

Belrand in the Solitude tavern is a battlemage. He used heavy armor, 1H weapons, shield spells and conjuring familar frequently, but not much destruction magic.

Jenassa is a great follower with high sneak skill. She will open locks for you and even steal some things that other followers refuse to do.

So far I've found him to be one of the best fallowers in the game. He packs one hell of a punch.

Tip if you have some annoying quest item perma-bugged in your inventory, like Strange Necklace, after you completed the bugged quest and there was no way to make it into the Necromancer Amulet.

-type on the console (~) (with the ")
Help "item name" 4
-Get the item ID
player.removeitem ItemID 1

---

And wooohooo... they respawn... everything respawn...everywhere... I will "live" in Skyrim forever!

So nobody's tried Marcurio, Illia, or Aranea? I guess it's up to me, then! I'll try them out when I get home tonight. Image IPB

Jenassa can open locks for you, huh? Interesting. I stumbled upon one of the Treasure Map Master chests in my travels, and couldn't open it to save my life. Perhaps she'd like to give it a go...

And why is she the only decent-looking dark elf in the game?

I'm not sure I enjoy the Dark Brotherhood's armor, though it does help with me looking badass. Do we get the robes that the others are wearing down the line? Those look cooler.

What is your race? Woof Elf? I find it hard to see the differences between Wood Elfs and High Elfs. You look bad-ass though.

Get the nightingale armor. Reminds me of Revans armor in Kotor.

Here she is wearing Forsworn armor that was improved using smithing:

High Elf, backstory is that he's a Thalmor assassin sent to make sure Skyrim seperates from the Empire. :P

I have a question for those who bought this game for the 360. Would you recommend I get the game at this point? Or should I wait until they release a bunch of patches to fix all the bugs?

I read up on Gamesradar how the PS3 version has some game ending bugs that Bethesda has yet to fix. Are there similar problems on the Xbox? Any answer would be welcome.

I just got Mjoll the Lioness (Riften) her Grimsever before I went to bed last night.

I had to murder her BFF Aerin because he would stop following her around after I married her.

I've been planning to marry her, and was wondering what would happen with Aerin. So if you bring her along as a follower, does he come along, or stay at your house?

I can't believe you killed him. Image IPB

He follows her when she isn't actively your follower. It was a rather unpleasant surprise to see Aerin in MY house in Markarth during our honeymoon. Needless to say this is unacceptable.

If you kill him around Mjoll, she will hate you forever, so you have to get him killed discretely. His "follow Mjoll everywhere" script ends when she becomes your follower, so I just have her wait at the house and follow Aerin on his trip back to Riften which allows me to either murder him without witnesses or allow bandits to do the dirty work for me.

I've had a total of two lock-ups over the course of many, many, many hours of gameplay. The recommendation from Bethesda, as of the release, is to not install the game on your hard drive (on XBox), but rather, to play off the disc until they release a patch. It's kind of backwards from what you'd expect, but there it is.

Honestly, this is the least buggy Bethesda game I've played. Aside from the occasional weird clipping, I have not had any major issues. Of course, I'm going the completionist route, so I'm nowhere near the game ending. Personally, I don't see a need to wait.

Edit: Ooh! Bethesda announced a patch, which will be coming out after Thanksgiving!

@chunkyman - I'll wait and see how annoying Aerin is; he might meet the same tragic end. Image IPB

I tried out marriage to see how it works. It turns out she became a merchant after we got married. Very handy. As far as I can see she sells even at night. ;) I think I am keeping her. :P

Me again. :P As I've mentioned I'm playing an Assassin-esque character, and I've found that I have room for an extra skill tree. So it's boiled down to Alchemy or Enchantment.

Which one do you guys prefer? :wizard:

For reals, that would be my vote.

Somehow I already saw this coming as the first vote.  Thing is, the game is rather easy even on Master. My biggest gripe is roleplaying.

See, I'm a nord with no magic whatsoever so enchanting might seem odd. That and poisons sounds like an assassin thing. But if you can add +% bow damage to ordinary gear with enchanting...:o

Enchantment can result in massively powerful weapons.

however, Alchemy is a much more fun choice for role-playing an assassin. I'm playing a similar character.

Why not go with Alchemy but get a couple of perks in enchanting as well?

quick questions:

1. can you have more than one companion?

2. can you give your companion a horse? (i'm sick of lydia walking on foot while i gallop ahead, lol)

You can have all of the companions you want, you can only travel with one humanoid + one dog + one horse at a time. They will wait for you to ask them to join you again, so you can switch between different companions.

(There are however, a couple of quests where some other NPC joins you part of the time. Some of these require your permanent companion to wait at home, while others seem to allow for the temporary quest companion to fight alongside your permanent companion.)

Companions cannot ride horses.

I did the same thing with Vorstag.  He's very cute and he's always complaining about it being cold- funny for a Nord- so it actually fits that he'd settle down and be a house-husband.  If I was rolling a different character, I'd keep him.  As it is, my ambitious Stormcloak thinks he's a bit of a milk-drinker and if he said he was staying home to mind a store she'd tell him to get his lazy ass out there and kill Imperials.  Image IPB

:lol:. Thats Lydia at her finest.

I gave her a Staff of Bolts that does 40 lightning damage with every hit. She now runs across the country behind me zapping everything that comes into her sight. I'm beginning to regret that...

I enchanted an ebony mace with Soul Trap and gave it to her, and she's been going to town. I had around 50 empty soul gems that are all full, now. We have a system, Lydia and I: I give her empty gems, she fills them, and I enchant the crap out of everything.

Does she actually use the soul gems to top up her enchanted weapons? I find it annoying having to take the weapons off her, top them up and them give them back. Its like dealing with someone who can't operate their phone.

^ I was surprised and impressed at the massive amount of things you could add to your equipment. Soul Trap and Smithing are ones I've been adding pretty consistently.
