was this the guy who was trying to bring a dead wolf back to life?

I wondered that myself. I found that guy near a shipwreck on the northern coast.

Anyone else playing a Stormcloak character? The Forsworn Conspiracy was a hard quest. I had to think for a while what to do, and I'm still bothered by it. Madanach is a great character.

I'm probably going to side with the imperials, but I also got this quest.

pickpocketing has come in handy so far.

Probably you always get it, but I mean it was tough for me to figure out what to do because I'm playing an Ulfric supporter.  Maybe others wouldn't have a problem with it.  I had hoped there might be some political compromise with the Forsworn, so that it could be us and them vs. the Imperials.  Madanach disabused me of that notion while simultaneously being sympathetic.  I was a little crushed.

Speaking of crushed, about that RPS post... on tumblr someone said she watched her husband dragging Lydia's armor around piece by piece to make a cairn for her.  There's a theme here.  Never let it be said that women are more sentimental than men!

A group of Thalmer attacked me. I discovered that they now hate me and have a contract out on me. Not sure what I did to deserve that. I haven't got far into the main quest yet and have not sided with either Imperials or Stormcloaks. Anyone know what I might have done?

Only thing I can think of is that I found the evidence that the greymane son is in their hands. That would have to be it I guess?

Has anyone figured out where the Thalmer Dominion elves come from? I assume it isnt the elves on Sommerset Isle? And don't say 'Thalmer'.. lol. Is it stated that they come from another continent?

I think my Nord is going to go Stormcloak. The little speech Ulfric gives when you first meet him on why he fights is awesome.

I had my PC end up killing the Forsworn once they got back to their camp but thats cause they previously killed my first horse. Yeah, my PC holds a grudge.:)

is there a limit to the amount of junk companions can carry?

Yes, there is. I know this, because I reached it last night with my pack mule...err...Lydia.

I'd love to tell you what it is, but I honestly don't know. I've looked around for a stat of some kind, but I haven't found it. Does anyone else know?

Some carry more than others, I guess. Or the Heavy Armor I gave Lydia affects that, prolly. But she can carry a lot less than illia can, only that Illia has no armor.

The Forsworn are a dang blight on the countryside. Every time I go to that part of the Reach, those turds attack me, pretty much no matter where I go. Waaa, I just want to add your camp to my map!

@RageGT - that makes sense. Since Lydia wears heavy armor (and doesn't get the perks we do), it probably does go towards her carry limit.

I wish Lydia would open up those spell tomes I gave her, and learn how to heal herself!

Ulfric must die (preferably by means of a maxed out Fire Breath) for two reasons:
a) betraying the teachings of the Greybeards by using the Thu'um for his own ends
B) being a coward for using the Thu'um in a duel against a normal human

Of course, he's also an arrogant jerk who's blind to the fact that he's a puppet on a string for the Thalmor, but that's beside the point.

I didn't expect to join the Imperial Legion when I started the game, but visiting Solitude and doing quests there, made a good impression on me.

LOL can't say I blame him for giving in to the temptation. I used it myself in a tavern brawl before getting killed by all the guards.

Yeah I am finding that shouts are too powerful for the cost of entry here. I mean we are talking about powerful spells that cost no magika and can often be used multiple times within a short time of each other. Its practically cheat mode for my warrior who until recently used no spells.

As such I decided to restrict myself to only one shout until the story otherwise allows it.

I can definitely see it that way, but in terms of the Thalmor, I can also see how an independent Skyrim might not be that bad from the POV of Nords in Skyrim.

Maybe my knowledge of the lore here is wrong, but didn't Hammerfell basically keep fighting on their own against the Thalmor after the Empire signed their treaty with the Thalmor? And Hammerfell beat the Thalmor? And besides, the Thalmor are only located to the south of Cyrodil, so they don't have any border with Skyrim to invade from anyway, unless they went to the sea in the north?

All the Empire has done is allow the Thalmor to get in their own territory and they ended up basically agreeing to the same terms the Thalmor orginally offered but only after bleeding their own forces dry with a costly war. To boot, wasn't it mostly Nord soldiers from Skyrim that bailed out the Empire in retaking the Imperial City? And for what? To have the Empire agree to crappy treaty terms where they can't even worship their own god?

Seems to me that the Empire has already weakened to the point they're the ones being strung along as puppets by the Thalmor by being spread to thin trying to enforce their old borders. Maybe the Imperial seat of power shouldn't be in Cyrodil but Skyrim instead?

Technicallly the forsworn are anti nords-in-their-house rather than imperial (although the nords were acting as such under the imperial banner) but still.

I am thinking of joining the imperials to spite those damn prissy elves. The argonians need to stop the war with the dumner so they can go and kick thalmer tail.

what race are the non-Nord "natives" of the Reach?

Imperial? Nedic descendants?

While I don't know what perks lydia has, companions do get some perks we do. The housecarl for the mansion in solitude has the perk that eliminates armor weight for example.

Ulfric is a "normal human," too, but he studied the ancient ways of the Nords while the king was making speeches about the empire. The king had to know what he was getting into when he agreed to the duel.  If Ulfric is an arrogant jerk, so was he.  Mostly I really like this story line because it's true to a Germanic/ Norse culture.  The legitimate leader is the strong one, not the one who happens to be warming a particular chair.

Just because the Thalmor think they can use Skyrim doesn't mean they're going to succeed at that.  If the empire really wants Skyrim's help against the Altmeri, they can accept it on equal terms rather than trying to put the Nords under their thumb.

I just got Sneak to 100 and am at level 19, technically it's level 18.

yes, but who are the people of the Reach?

In some dialogue with a guy who owns a mine near Markarth, he says he's one of the only "natives of the Reach", non-Nord who owns land, or something to that effect.

You need to read the ingame book The Great War, Its in the library of the Whiterun Jarl. After the oblivion crisis the Thalmor rose to power amongst the Altmer.
