For those who've not yet read up much on the Thalmor, here's some of the timeline which might make you like (or dislike) them. It's all ingame, just easily missed.

Another interesting thing that many people have already discovered: You mentioned Aela. You get free training with her if she's your companion. Just ask her to train you in Archery, pay for it all, then just go into her inventory and take all your gold back. You can do that with any companion that offers training.

The Companions are wonderful for this.

Okay, I'm done with enchanting and crafting for a long time lol. I think I'm going to roll with this armor for the rest of the game. What do you guys think. Are there better enchantments I should have gone with.

I swear this is the wierdest Skyrim thread on the internet.  People here  are creaming over Ebony, declaring it the be all to end all.  Really, by reading this thread you'd think it was at least half as good as Daedric.  lol

Anyway, to answer your question, the only enchantment I'd change is your  water breathing one. If I were you, I'd put that enchantment on a ring or necklace or something light that can sit in your inventory until you need it.  And instead, I'd place an armor rating enchantment on one of your pieces.  Say, something that raises your heavy armor score by 20.  I've got that on my gloves I think.

What happens if you marry Lydia? Are there any bugs associated with her?

Is someone going to answer my question?

EDIT: Nevermind, I've discovered that you actually can't marry Lydia at all due to a bug. Disappointing, considering she's one of the better looking female NPCs in the game.

Here's a weird bug: If your spouse is a follower and a merchant and you change something from her inventory then all her merchandise can be lost and her money will be reset to 0. After that her stuff will not reset after a week or so. This does not always happen and I am not exactly sure what triggers it. I got the situation back to normal by exiting the game completely and reload the last game. Although it does not work with some saves.

This bug was very confusing and I almost gave up on Aela. Glad that she is her old self again. ;)

Ah. Cool. Unfortunately I married her when my archery was 76. ;)

You have to complete the Companions quest line (and be wearing the Amulet of Mara).

What does marrying Aela entail? Does she turn into a nagging housewife, or does she stay an active member of the Companions?

I think Daedric is ugly, and since I'm playing in the 3rd person the look matters.  I had a set of Daedric and I put on a mannequin.  Could I have maybe gotten an armor rating of 1000 with the Daedric, possiby.  But I think it's ugly, plain and simple, I don't like running around looking like a demon.

You have to complete the Companions quest line.

So, it means, I need to be simply the head of companions or even after , I really need to complete all the companions quest line ?

If you found the amulet (like me) then visit the priest anyway and talk about marriage, because that will "activate the amulet". Without that talk, the amulet does not work.

You can get scaled and iron armour reaching the armour cap, so who cares about Orcish/Ebony/Daedric? They all look so ugly.

It's funny though how all those powergamers' bragging ("I have Daedric with 3000 armour rating!!!!") has been for naught.

The enchantments you can put on the head are VERY limited from what I have to chose from.  I have Waterbreathing, Alchemy, Archery, Lockpicking, Magicka, Magicka Regen.  That's all I've broken down from item.

I believe you have to do the Glory of the Dead quest, which is the last of the Companions quests, before you can marry Aela.

And @AngryFrozenWarrior - I didn't realize you could find the amulet outside of paying for it. Good to know!

This game has turned me into an elf hater. Telling me I can't worship Talos? I killed a group of justicars on the road who dare challenged me.

Just met Ulfric Stormcloak in Windhelm. He seemed more honorable than I thought he would be. Originally I was going to side with the Imperials but IDK at the moment. I'll stay neutral for the time being.

She's pretty darn awesome.  She doesn't nag, no.  And she's one of the few spouse choices that does everything.

1) has a merchant shop (you can buy and sell stuff to her, even when you're traveling with her)
2)  She can fight and she's a competent  archer
3) She cooks meals for you

As for her standing in the companions.  it doesn't change, beyond the fact that she lives in your house now, instead of the Companion lodge.  She still gives you quests.

if you wanna marry Aela  (or anyone else in the companions who's avaliable), then yes.

But if you wanna do things quick, grab the Amulet of Mara, go back to Riverwood, and marry that merchant's daughter.  If you did his Golden Claw quest she'll be  ready to marry you.

I don't know why people are objecting so much to Ulfric using shouts in the duel. What do those draugr do in a fight? Obviously there have always been different schools of thought on how to use them.

After the Battle of Red Mountain, the Greybeards were formed and there was only one school. The draugr date back to the time when dragons ruled Skyrim.

Traditions once changed can change again.  Image IPB

Is the merchant himself also a marriage partner?  After I did  his quest he sounds like he's hitting on my character all the time.  Not that she'd stoop to a milk-drinking Imperial!

I think you mean the sister Riverwood Trader's owner, the blacksmith's daughter is a child

Ulfric is a BAMF. The speech he gives when you first enter his palace is pretty epic, and delivered perfectly by his voice actor. I knew he is the man who should be king without question after that.

And I, too, slaughter Thalmor every time I see them. I used to talk to them first, but now I just attack them on sight. I hate the way they strut about in their black trenchcoats like SS officers or something - they deserve no mercy, for they obviously show none.

Sounds good. She's one of the female NPCs (and NPCs in general) I felt like I had a "connection" with, so I just might pop the question once I'm done with the Companions quest line.

As for Lydia - since I can't marry her, I don't really have much of a use for her. She's a decent warrior, but I don't like the idea of her hanging around my house with me and my future wife. So, it's probably best that she has an... accident during our next dragon encounter.

1. Tell Lydia to go home
2. Open your console, click on Lydia and enter Addfac 19809 1
3. Put on Amulet of Mara and you're set to go!
