I need Steel and Iron ingots. I hear you can mine the ores and turn them into ingots.

A few questions:
1) where is a smelter
2) where can I find mine(s) with the ore I need?
3) how long does it take for them to replenish?
4) do pick axes break?

Smelters are all over the place, but the closest one to the starting point is in whiterun up in the jarls castle, and so far I have never had a pickaxe break.

Theres one right inside the gate into whiterun around the back of blacksmiths house right next to enterance.

Mines have ore but also all over world ore spots outside on ground and espcially around mountain areas.

Supposedly a week inside game time they replenshi however one of my friends says hers doesnt for some reason.

No pick axes broke in time I been using it.

Thank you, I appreciate it.  How many ingots do you get per ore?  please don't tell me you need multiple ore to get 1 ingot...

EDIT:  Bah, I waited a week, no dice, even tried waiting inside a building far away from the mine.

After around 109 hours of play time, yeah, I like this game, now don't expect an "I love this game." from me, if I like a game, I like it, I'll never give a game another category than an "I don't like this game." and an "I like this game.". But one thing disappointed me, the main quest line, I was done with it after 4 hours of playtime, and I expected more from the dragon threat, I've expected more from Alduin.

BTW, wearing the smithing gauntlets allows you extend your weapon damage at the forge.  I was able to eek out about 20% more damage on my legendary weapons.  I'm told drinking an elixir of smithing will stack even on top of that, though I have yet to try it.  Another trip to the forge I suppose.  Speed AND damage.  There is no substitute.

I used smithing gauntlets 20%, ring 15%, necklace 15%, and Blacksmith Elixer 50%, and it all stacked.

Then get the enchantment elixer and use the one hand weapon damage enchantment.  You can out it on two pieces of armor and jewelry.

Now I just need to find the ring and necklace. Thanks.

I hear alot of talk about Lydia as a companion. Anyone else, carrying along Mjoll the Lioness as a companion?

She's become my favorite. She may go down every so often in a fight, but I have yet to see her die. Her ambient dialogue is way better than Lydia's. She always has a one or two sentence story to offer. Talks about her mother training her with a sword and how she misses her father. She even offers custom dialogue. Just today, when we entered some dungeon, she said: "There could be Dragr about, I can smell the decay in the air." Sure enough, soon thereafter we got swarmed.

But, I have to say my favortie line of all from her (especially comparing her to Lydia) is: "No problem, I can carry a good bit of gear."

Anyway, I'm a Mjoll fan, and she and my PC will be wed soon. I intend to keep her as a companion while Lydia sits in our bedroom stuffing her face.

How long does it take from when you're infected with Sanguinaire Vampiris to turn into a vampire?

I also like Mjoll. I had my Imperial marry her, though I noticed for the first time, and at the altar no less, that she was a foot taller than he was. Didn't realize it was reflected in game that Nords are taller than Imperials. Even the Women.

It seems the male Nords on the marriage list are not that impressive. Also none of them are Stormcloaks, which means my current PC will probably remain unattached. I guess it makes sense to do it that way since they end up hanging around your house tending shop and stirring the stew.

Did the king know about Ulfric being able to use a thu'um to that extent? I haven't got to a point where there's been any explanation of what actually happened in the duel.

If the king did know and didn't think Ulfric would use it out of honour well yes it could be stupid, OTOH formal duels usually do have rules. If Ulfric agreed to duel using specific weapons and went outside that then he's being pragmatic but also a coward.

Just in general I'd rather be in a kingdom ruled by Starks than Lannisters.

Aela the Huntress is a nice companion, she's more stealthy than Lydia.

It seems to me Lydia has the worst AI of any companion, other companions I've tested never lag so far behind or get stuck in the environment. Borgakh never gave me any issues.

No, but I am using Brelyna Maryon and gotten married to her. She's the first companion I've had who has survived may ecnounters with the enemy including the tough ones and dragons too. She's awesome.

Ulfric wants to restore the traditions and honor in Skyrim, right ? How doing such thing if he does not respect them himself ?

Bronn at least, has never claimed to be defending the honor, he despises it. While Ulfric cheers traditions and honor, and uses it as an argument against those who support the Imperials.

All those who speak of Ulfric, even if they do not like him, say he is someone who respects the tradition. I can not explain why he did that. Maybe I will know in the end.

Not that I judge him, simply, it's surprising when we look at his profile.

What a pity that Lord Stark lost the war against Cersei and the Lannister, because of his " honor. "

I love him, but I was so pissed off, when he refused to do the right thing against Cersei when he had the opportunity..
I respect Cersei, she knows what it means to survive in a hostile environment.

I decided that if I'm going to marry someone, it has to be a mage.  Due to me hating how people got stuck in Fallout 3/NV, I will probably choose Brelyna over Lydia. The AI makes it complicated...

On another note, I asked the Wizard of Whiterun (Whatever his name is) about Alchemy, and I can't seem to remember what he gave me.

+1

She also has that cute Braveheart warpaint which is always a plus for me.
And her overall marriage and interaction seems more rewarding too. Now just how to get rid of her BFF Aerin.:D

Be sure to kill her BFF Aerin secretly. He follows her around even after marriage, but if you kill him and are caught Mjoll will hate you forever. I prefer killing him in the forest.

Love her warpaint.  Does cover that great scar though. A real Nord woman, graceful, but hard as iron.  She looks pretty good in steel armor and a steel horned helmet too. As luck would have it, she and my PC are scarred under the left eye.  No coincidence right?Image IPB

After you marry her, if you keep her as a companion, does Aerin still stay around?

I just checked: if on PC, us the console command "disable" to get rid of Aerin. Sadly, this playthrough is on 360 for me.

I just started using Mjoll and she's pretty awesome....at first. I mean, I like her and her little stories and all, but my god, she does not shut up! And so she says the same thing over and over and over and over again. Its maybe even more annoying than Lydia since she says them so much more frequently.

Its cool the first time but it gets old. And then Mjoll has her male lacky that follows her around in Riften. I think he might have to "disappear" before I had my PC marry her cause he apparently sticks around even after you marry her.

I've had Lydia say the unique context sensitive dialogue too- I think all companions can say stuff like that.

I want to see what other companions there are for marriage though too- maybe some of the other housecarls.

Do we know which ones get with other females? I mean, if no one's tried Lydia as a female character... maybe.

I just got into the thieves guild, does it take long to finish its quest line? Also, anyone know about a companion that teaches speachcraft?

I find strange that almost everyone is with Lydia. No one is tempted by the adventure, the exotic, the exploration of other personalities ? :D

Lydia, well, she's cute, but your thane, after, your wife. Meh.

And you sided with the rebels that once they win will have the Empire to the South and Elves to the West?

Yeah... the Nords will look even more weak under the COMPLETE control of the Elves.
