About the frame rate problem and Crossfire: I didn't have any issues with a dual 5850. Sometimes I have hiccups on the save and load screens, but I guess that's probably because I have more than 1K saved games. The only graphical issue I see is near the fire in the Whiterun house. It makes shadows look funny. I read somewhere that there is an ini-fix for shadows. If only I could find it. ;)

How to play Skyrim in a few short paragraphs. The only way to play. If you're not the biggest P**** on the planet. Which you probably are. Coward.

I laughed when he said that NPCs get in your way but there were ways to deal with such idiocy

Anyting that requires me to play a Kahjiit isn't getting my approval.

I've killed two dragons for Windhaven and have become the Leader of the Companions and still get told to "Watch it, sneak thief!" by the guards.  I'm a Bosmer Elf archer. Racism is alive and well in Skyrim.

Retaliatory pocket picking is the best kind of pocket picking. Hey, guard, what's up. What? You find my hand in your pocket, you're going to cut it off? Ok then. I'm just going to crouch behind you for a moment, ok? As you were.

/steals everything they own, right down to the clothes on their back.

Just did the "A Night to Remember" quest. I think Sanguine is one of my favorite daedra princes now, just behind Sheogorath of course.

I'm playing on the PS3. I've seen very few glitches in my play through so far, and I have had a few freeze ups, but not nearly as bad as fall out new Vegas. plus, I like the look of the game unmodded so I don't have to worry about what might have been had I bought it on pc.

so far in my game my 20 lvl Nordish 2handed waraxe carrying Hilda has, killed 7 dragons and has learned about 7 shouts. (my favorite so far is that whirlwind shout. when you are over encumbered it can be a life saver after *having* to pick up ever stray weapon and bauble for quick cash until I can get back outside where her trusty steed is waiting to help warp her (fast travel) back to her home base in Whiterun.

She is leader of the Companions and is married to fellow Companion Farkus instead of living in her house in Whiterun (which is where Lydia, her housecarl, guards over her things ) they live in the Companion's hall (I'm blanking on the name). It's bigger and all her other friends are there.

*spoiler* *spoiler*

She was once a werewolf, but as soon as she had a chance to remove the "curse" she did, and after doing a bunch of quests for the Companions so did her partner Farkus. So they are members of the Companions without the secret power.

*end spoiler*

and now I get those sleep bonuses everyone else does. The two of them go adventuring together. so far she has no need to have anyone else go with her. Though if she is worried about him she will leave him at home, but not say it like that, after all he is a proud warrior in his own right.

She has traveled pretty far, but has yet finished doing any favor for a Jarl since Whiterun. (she has had plenty of them ask her to do them, and I have them on her quest list, but I'm having more fun doing random quests.

oh hell yes, that was great too.

Question: Wasn't that sound effect from one of the Shrek movies?
it sure sounded like Pinocchio...

It seems to be a trend to have someone post the same video after I do /shrug the more people who see Angry Joe the better so its all good.

Biggest most epic moment I've ever had of the game was just now.
I was north of Whiterun doing some questing when I find my next quest has me take a book.... from a giant camp. Up until now I have ignored the giants and they have ignored me so I didn't know how to approach this.
I tried sneaking but that was thrown out the window very quickly.
I tried hit and run (throwing fireballs at giants and just staying out of their reach) and this looked like it might work until a dragon shows up.
First of all this is my first dragon sighting in like 3 days so I was all over that baby. I decide the best move was to go into warewolf form and I die a couple times. But 3rd time was a charm. I smack that Dragon like a baby 3 hits in very quick succession the second it landed and it was dead. At this point the giants (2) and Mammoths (2) were after me. The mammoths were the ones killing me but I charge head on and just keep holding charge button as I attack and I cut them to ribbons faster than I did the dragons... Hell I've fought mudcrabs fiercer than these (HAH)
Finally Giants were a pushover I didn't have anything to worry about there.
Although at one point one sent Lydia flying and I thought she was a goner I wasn't going to reload but after I kill the last giant I see her landing and getting right back up :D

It reminded me of the demo footage of them attacking the mammoths then the 2 dragons show up. True epic moment like this couldn't have been planned better with scripted moments.

Bah. I remember I encountered him at the tavern in Ivarstead. I was getting ready to climb the mountain to meet with the Greybeards when he challenged me to the drinking contest - I agreed to his challenge. Moments later, I woke up in some strange temple with some priestess telling me to clean up my mess - and once I did, I went outside... and discovered that I'd been transported halfway across the freakin' world from where I was to a place I'd never been before.

I suppose I could've fast-traveled back to where I was before, but I forced myself to stay and complete a bunch of quests - one of which involved a cult of cannibals who invited me to join them in their... revels. I brought them the priest as they requested - and as I stood above him on Namira's altar with my axe in hand ready to kill and eat the poor fool, I suddenly went turncoat and transformed into a werewolf.

I then proceeded to savagely kill the entire cult... and in my wolven form, ate them instead. It was glorious.

Anyway... damn that Sanguine and his drinking contest! :pinched:

I had just gone asleep in Solitude, expecting to wake up and go tell that clothes owner that the Jarl (ess?) had liked her clothing, when suddenly I'm waking up in an unfamiliar place. I see this woman who tells me that I stole her kill, and she has me do that part of the, ahem, quest. I step outside, and grab my bearings. Then I start off, but before I can get twenty feet a dragon shows up, my first actual spawning dragon outside of cities. i was a little scared, I'd not faced one one-on-one before, but I keep shooting arrows at him and whittling him down. He keeps trying to fly kind of away from me, so I chase him. He crash lands, and I move in for the delicate kill, but who shows up but a troll. Now, my only encounter with a troll before this was an Ice Troll in High Hrothgar, and I did that kind of early so it was a bit hard. So the troll and the dragon start fighting, and the troll wins. The dragon's lying there, dead, a soul just waiting to be harvested, but that troll...I race over to the dragon, get all it's stuff, then unleash a couple fireball scrolls on the troll. Bye bye troll.

So much fun. So incredibly truly random.

Sotty but my head almost hit my desk with his "How amazing it is for how many things you can do. How its fleshed out with things like LOCKPICKING"

Its FO3/New Vegas lockpicking but some how made worse. On both Xbox and PC how could they have made this more awkward?
Other then just wanting the choice of having a minimap to show my general area those are the only gripes I have with the game.

Sure I could start dragging in other developers and franchises that do other things better but I never expected a TES game to go that way.

Oh, speaking of ice trolls... I remember a while back I was scouting the eastern mountains for Dwemer ruins (I figured they'd have to be close to Morrowind, since that's where most Dwemer ruins are). Sure enough, I found not just one, but TWO Dwemer ruins which were relatively close together.

The first one was unfortunately locked (though it did have a storehouse outside with tons of Dwemer metal ingots and scrap metal). But as I ascended the mountains, I came across another - that happened to have an ice troll blocking the way. It was just one troll, though - I can handle one troll, right?

Except there were two more waiting in the hills above it. They came barreling down the slopes as soon as I got into it with the first one - I was dead within seconds. I had to reload and tried to sneak around, but there was no way to do it. So I turned into a werewolf... and killed all three of them at the same time so easily, I wondered how they were ever so difficult in the first place.

The moral of the last two stories? Go werewolf, or go home. Vampires suck (no pun intended).

EDIT: Oh, and be careful going into the Dwemer ruin in the mountains that I mentioned - you'll be freefalling very shortly after you enter it, and it's a looong fall.

No, I think you intended that. Its just such a sweet and easy move to make. You are allowed to reward yourself with a special waffle.

Wow. High sneak is really cool. A dragon landed near me and he wasn't able to detect me. I could kill him with a couple of arrows. Nice.

@ Addai. :

I think it's an opinion I can agree with. :)

Also, werewolf rocks. So powerful ! Does anyone tried to be a vampire ? How is it ? Good ? Powerful ?

  This is your take on matters?  That the Nords just don't "do" politics so they ought to let themselves be run by outsiders?

I haven't had any frame rate issues, I have everything maxed out.  Only problem I've had is the game just closing like once an hour.  No error messages nothing, it just closes.

On the new PC this is exactly the problem we have.  Frame rate seems fine.  55-60 in most places, occasionally on going through doors it would drop to 30ish.  Occasionally the game just *blips* to desktop with no warning.

That's the quest that keeps on giving.  I've always loved dremora trash talk.  More fun when one is fighting for you.

The only bug I've seen that really annoys me is not being able to marry Lydia. I found that very disappointing - she's pretty much at my side 24/7, and has never let me down once. We have raided dungeons, explored Dwemer ruins, slain dragons, traveled halfway across the map and back - seems logical that my Dragonborn and the housecarl would hook up sooner or later.

I'm hoping that the upcoming patch will fix it - otherwise, I'll have to reconsider who my Dragonborn takes on as a companion/wife (most likely Aela).

The emergent combat in Skyrim in the open areas is fantastic. Not just with the dragons but with any eenmy you encounter.

Meh, Lydia seems friendly and cute, but she doesn't appeal me at all... You do not even know her, and yet she promises to you, that's all. Too quick for me, to be chosen. We don't even know what is her personality. Or maybe there is a special dialogue I missed ?

And she's indeed in your house 24/7 as your thane.

Not impressive in my eyes, for a romance. ^^

Actually, I don't regret her, Kill her, if you can't marry her and she bothers you as a thane.

I loved it. Long one too. I made a 40 seconds one that basically says the same thing! =))
