Just got the Shadowmere horse from Astrid. Looked awesome rising out of the black lake right outside the sanctuary

That was a bad ass scene.
Specially when the lighting hit and out jumped Shadowmere
:o

That's one amazing horse. It can even go toe-to-toe with a dragon. And horses don't even have toes! Image IPB

Edit: Speaking of the Dark Brotherhood, I really like that there's a couple of alternative quests if you choose to kill Astrid when she first tries to recruit you. Much better than Oblivion, where you can just kill Lucien with no repurcussions.

Psh. Forget the one dragon you can call for aid, have Shadowmere ;)

And also, I am glad that the dark brotherhood story line is better then Oblivion's , but I loved the DBH old characters. When I seen them Im like.. "Aw...I miss that Khajiit that calls you a foul smelling ape, then wants to be your bff near the end."

I'm also glad that theres no "rath of sithis" here. That scared the pee outta me sometimes. :?

Maybe some kind soul can help me out here. I'm having difficulty competing Promises to Keep. I need to "steal" a horse named Frost and deliver it to an NPC but I can't for the life of me find the damned horse. Any help?

This might have been answered on subsequent pages, but check out behind the town toward the edge of the map....

Any chance you could give me a direction? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong town. Riften is where I'm scouring.

Frost is at the Black Briar Manor, east of Riften. Hightlight the quest in the journal, press Enter or E or LMB to make it active if it isn't already and press M. That should show the spot you want on the Map.

The only person I've seen mention what happened so far is Igmund and that was just a couple of lines, nothing which painted Ulfric in a better light. Who gives this clearer picture then?

I'm not here to hold your hand through your journeys in Markarth and the Reach to help you figure it out.

You can talk to Thongvor Silver-Blood and Banning out next to the stables, for one. You can also, you know, do your own research and learn a little about the Forsworn instead of relying on me or some NPC to give you lessons on the subject.

Perhaps I was being too subtle for someone as condescending and stuck up as you. When I asked who gives this clearer picture I meant that I've talked to virtually everyone in Markarth and so far nobody has actually said anything which proves the book to be "Imperial Propaganda" or that Ulfric isn't a racist scumbag who isn't worth siding with. The book brings up accusations against Ulfric and his militia, that they executed all the Markarth advisors that worked for the Forsworn during their rule, tortured native women to get information about the Forsworn, killed any Nord children old enough to fight if they didn't fight for Ulfric when his forces attacked the city. Sure, it could all be lies, but nobody brings any of these things up apart from the book, nobody provides any proof that Ulfric did or did not do these things. Nobody has provided proof of anything, only their own opinion, which is my point. You dismissed the book out of hand as being propaganda, which it quite likely is, but virtually everyone in the game is using opinion and propaganda rather than any actual evidence. The whole civil war conflict is a game of chinese whispers, second hand rumours of who did what. We don't even have any proof as to whether the fight between Ulfric and Toryyg was an honourable duel or a murder, each side has it's own version but there's no truth. If only there was some piece of evidence that using the Thu'um in a duel is a recognised and acceptable part of such duels in Skyrim that would be something, but so far I've not seen anything that says so.

In the end it all comes down to which side your character believes is most likely telling the truth. Personally I'd rather side with the Stormcloaks, and through courageous and honourable deeds become more popular and important to the cause than Ulfric, and eliminate him for the good of everybody.  Steer the cause in a much better direction, like unifying Skyrim, and gathering a new army of heroes, moulded in the image of Ysgramor and the five hundred and having Skyrim, Hammerfall and others rise up to stop the real threat of the Thalmor once and for all. At least amongst the Stormcloak soldiers and supporters I've found some good people whereas the pro-Imperials seem to be less sympathetic. But my options are limited to side with the faction that wanted to execute my character for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or side with the racist scumbag who potentially commited war crimes that make him almost as bad as the Thalmor.

Hm. Well speaking of Ulfric, I remember a few rumors from the Guards that Ulfric shouted at the High King, and well..you know..technically just insta kill.

Now was that Why he was on the carriage with you in the beginning?
Or did me getting scared by the dragon ( not really) and the excitment get the best of me, and miss that part?

I never really understood that. I always thought the guards were lying too me so I'd just annoy them by throwing stuff around.

Anyone know about this? c:

ETA: Never mind, I've finally found it. As I suspected, the horse wasn't in the city itself, it was outside of it. That's why I couldn't find it: I kept thinking it was IN the city. D'oh! Thanks for the help.

ETA2: In restrospect, I confused Black-Briar Manor with Black-Briar Lodge. Double d'oh!

Korrin's second week- headed out west, joined the bards, learned how to decapitate, got in a number of fights against the foresworn. got mixed up with a few Daedric princes..still no random dragons (so 3 words not powered up yet).
Just finished Lights Out - had a lot of difficulty fighting the captain - ended up luring him away with hit-and-run archery, then swimming out to kill all the others -officially ending the quest. Not certain if I should have another go at the captain or leave him with the corpses and maybe come back later with more power and a companion

One quick unrelated-to-the-topic-at-hand question: has anyone here been ambushed by Thalmor while traveling? A bunch just popped up off the side of the road and wiped the floor with my Dragonborn without any provocation.

Of course, it probably didn't help that I tend to kill Thalmor Justiciars whenever I encounter them out on the roads. Perhaps now they just attack me on sight rather than just stopping to tell me I'm interfering with "official Thalmor business."

happened to me once
my previous meeting they rold me I was "interfering" so ran off to kill some foresworn so don't know why they suddenly changed (maybe had heard of my assistance to a certain rescue)

The Khajiit at Peryite Shrine is the most weird looking cat around. He has a thick human mustache on top of his feline ones! hahaha

And I keep finding little boys on the road trading dwemer ruins locations for a piece of gold! hahahaha

Pah... I just got attacked by a Dark Brotherhood assassin. Found a note on him that said somebody perfomed the sacrifice and wants me dead. But why? I didn't even do anything. Never stole anything.

Oh, the humanity!

+1

Mjoll & I were leaving via the back enrtance to a dungeon when they attacked, they didn't last too long (although had to use some potions- lvl 23)
I kill any dominion on sight and any Imperial transporting Nord prisoners too.

oh and what's with talk of Mjoll combat AI being bugged? She works fine for me, starts using the bow then when enermies get close switches to her sword and shield (i removed any 2h weapon on her, I retireved her sword she should use it dammit :pinched:) and kills them off.
Her banters at the 'quaint' stage for me atm, wonder when it'll turn to irritating, hopefully not before I start using The Huntress for a follower, then I can switch around as I want.

I think it might be time to retire Lydia back to Whiterun for good. Some of the enemies I'm encountering now are out of her league. I guess your followers' levels don't scale with yours or your enemies.

Such a shame.

In my view this has a lot more to do with your character's background and outlook. For example, if you are playing a Talos worshipping Nord who is bitter about the White Gold Concordat, it would not make much sense to join the Legion IMO.

On the other hand, if you were playing a Dunmer refugee then it would seem much more logical to join the Legion and support Brunwulf Free-Winter to become the Jarl of Windhelm. He stands up for the rights of Dunmer and other races who have immigrated to Skyrim.

In my opinion, the only person who would NOT join the Legion (I'm a bit biased) would be one whose judgement clouded by racial "Patriotism" and pride (In this case, A Nord).

How about Revenge?

The damned Legion was going to execute my Orc for no  reason whatsoever in Helgen, and would have suceeded, had they not been forced to scamper away like  little chickens when Alduin flew in.

That *alone* is reason enough  for my Orc to side with anyone who opposes them.  In this case we have the Stormcloaks.  Sign me up and put me on the front lines, I say.

It was destroyed in one of the books.

You don't roleplay that you actually committed a crime?

I do.  But I also roleplay a guy who knows the system, and my name was not on the docket of prisoners slated to be executed.   They discovered this fact on their own,  yet one of the smug faced Legionare captains  looked over and said:  "kill him anyway".

Yeah... that did it for me.  Had my arms not been bound to my back during the tutorial, I would have slaughtered the lot of them   before escaping and made Alduin's job a little easier.    Since then, though, I've been destroying  every legion soldier  I see on the road who's escorting bound prisoners.

So killing the Captain that was the only one pushing for your death wasn't enough for you? Oh and your character isn't arrested for a random crime. I believe he/she is arrested for being at the wrong place at the wrong time with the stormcloaks.

Yeah Lydia didn't seem to level with me, so I had to do the same thing.  I using Mjoll now.

I checked their stats, Lydia had 158 Health, 67 Stamina, and 26 Heavy armor.  Mjoll had 358 Health, 117 Stamina, 95 Heavy armor.

I wonder if it's a glitch or something.
