I'd be surprised if dragons will ever come close to cities, because they would end up killing NPCs important for quests...

It actually happened in Fallout 3 that some of the open settlements would get invaded by giant radscorpions and deathclaws - very annoying. Traveling merchants also got themselves killed this way.

Like aforementioned, Radiant Story will replace NPC's killed by selecting an NPC's relative or friend to fill the void, but if you kill the NPC, you will not be treated nicely at all. This might include price if it is a store.

It was comfirmed prior to E3 that dragons can attack in cities, that they do attack in cities, and they even attack if you are chatting it up with an NPC.

Imagine that. Talking with an NPC about a side quest....WHAM...dragon attack!!!!

There is a loadout in between cities and the world, but even in Oblivion that was 2 seconds. No biggie. I'm sure dragons load into the city when they come in, but their loadin comes by way of us seeing them dropping or flying in.

This could bring up an interesting scenario, in theory. Because if a mill or store gets destroyed or sabotaged by the player, the economy locally is affected, so a wood mill being destroyed might mean no or scarce arrows in the entire region for a while, probably a predetermined timeframe.

Also worthy to note, again, in theory by connecting dots....if you could imvest in stores in Oblivion, its likely something similar or even more robust COULD be in Skyrim. Given the apparent attention to detail, i say its highly likely. So dragons could also pose threats to your investments.

You see a dragon drop in a start breathing fire in direction of the store you just invested 20,000 gold in.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have some great ideas here.

According to a poster on the Bethsoft forum, who claims to have heard some interesting new tidbits about the economy from a QA tester:

1. NPC animations actually affect the game world. For example, when a smith is performing sword making animations, when he finishes, a new sword is added to his merchant inventory.

2. There will be traveling NPC traders

3. Farmers will farm crops and transport them to merchants where presumably there is some sort of exchange of gold that allows the goods to be added to the merchant's inventory.

That is very good news. If NPCs have a mentality where they need a certain amount of money to eat and they're willing to trade items and gold, then either destroying or supporting local economies could be a fun game in itself. An actual demand/supply system would be difficult but I think it may be moddable to some degree. Boost the local economy? Over time, NPCs have better equipment. Destroy a local economy? Over time, no one has a job and only a few people have nice equipment, the rest are in basic clothes and rags.

Thank you.... you sure you aren't a QA or employee at Bethesda?

;)

Works well and fine unless your luck sucks and then pretty much every town you go into a Dragon comes in, till finally no one wants you anywhere near town as you bring dragons >>.   But really that system sounds way too easy to break, I bet you will have someone who will go in and just kill everyone they see, Guards being unnamed NPC's I'm sure will respawn in some manner, but named NPCs beats me.

As to the economic system, pft run the town into the ground, buy everything cheap, then invest your gold to build it back up, easy way to get rich.

But honestly it seems to me just with a bit of bad luck all of this could bite a player in the ass. In the same manner, as that Orc Butler in Skingrad, walking of a damn bridge thus breaking one quest compleatly, and his part in another. And there are no bandits or dragons coming out of no where in that case.

Those are some very valid points. It'll be interesting to see what Bethesda does. I have a feeling they'll get it down good. It's a possibility, for example, that you cannot invest in stores you sabotage for a set number of time. Or maybe not at all. That would be some pretty big choice and consequence. But the NPC that takes over a dead NPC's quest line will pick up the quest line and the dialogue so there is no hiccup in quests. I'm sure there is a limit, but myself personally isnt going to begrudge Bethesda if after twenty deaths there is a respawn. Something else confirmed about Radiant Story is it analyzes you at all times, so if you visited a dungeon a quest was in, it will move the quest to a nearby dungeon you haven't yet explored or if you explored all of them in the vicinity, the one you were in least recently. Interaction and behavior with characters and npcs are also rated and calculated, and if alive, those certain npcs will fill specific roles in certain quests.

As far as bad luck...sure. But doesn't that mean they upgraded their luck system as well, making it more organic and real?

Like i said, great points. Hopefully we can learn more soon.

LAWD. She needs to stop. Her stress level must be like above par high.

I love her accent, though. I never realized how hot Rob Patterson's was until the MTV: Movie Awards.

No, it's a console port but in addition to higher resolution for PC (above 1280x720 console resolution), it will also have higher res textures, DX11 optimization features and probably higher quality shadows, etc.

BTW here is a recap of all the E3 videos:

July 6 GTTV Gameplay Demo

July 7 G4 Gameplay Demo

July 8 Gamestop Gameplay Demo

July 8 IGN Interview (same demo footage as before)

Straight gameplay, no chatting -
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Interview with Todd Howard
Interview at the Bethesda Booth at E3 (Craig Lafferty)
Interview #2 at the Bethesda Booth (Craig Lafferty)

@naughty99 Thanks. I hate a lousy port. Btw not trying to start a flamewar but Witcher 2 on 360 (over at IGN) looks pretty damn amazing graphically.

The new perk system (shown in the most recent E3 trailer) looks awesome. Also I love the fact that we can now study our items in 3D! =)
