Anyone here not bother with fast travel or carriages much? I almost exclusively walk or ride my horse to my destinations - the scenery is just so breathtaking, I can't help but go out of my way just to see it all.

And the music, which perfectly reflects whatever is happening or wherever you are in-game, just makes it all the more magnificent to behold. I'm considering buying the OST when it comes out, the music is just that good.

It doesn't bother me at all. But I only used them when going through stores after raw material for my smithing/enchanting training, which was long ago. (198 hrs gameplay time atm!) Since those days, I only travel with my beautiful Aela and my horse.

Now, if this desguise actually works to let me into some Thalmor prison to rescue a son of Whiterun... (I'm not counting on it but it would be so awesome if it did worked)

Where's your Night Mother now, Astrid?

I am having a lot of CTD's too.  Very annoying.

Get the updated Skyrim.exe that lets you use 4 GB instead of 2 GB: http://www.skyrimnex...ile.php?id=1013

I had trouble with CTDs too, but not anymore after updating.

I agree. This is the best music in any video game I have ever played. It really is that good...as near to perfection as possible. I use no fast travel at all (even if I want to store loot) but hardly ever use horse and never used carriage (although I might if it is like Red Dead Redemption). This keeps me more immersed and the scale if the size always fresh in my mind.

*Here is me hoping The Elder Scrolls VI is ten times bigger with disgustingly more detail and depth.

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I'm in no hurry with this game. It's going to take me many, many more months on my first playthrough.

After 75+ hours of great fun, CTDs got too much for me to continue at this point. It's a shame this is happening and I may have lost a whole lot of gameplay hours due to at seems to be a corrupted save (and every subsequent save being done on that one). I'm not facing random CTDs but very specific ones around WIndhelm area. This "new" engine seems an awful lot like the old one...

Anyway, I'm waiting for patches to see if this gets fixed; if not, I'll just restart when I eventually feel like playing it again. 75+ hours was already a lot more than what I invested in many other games out there.

Aside from bugs, they just needed mounted combat like Mount&Blade, companion interaction at least one third comparable to BioWare's and separated saves for different characters to be a perfect RPG.

Cheers.

Someone else mentioned they got a lot of CTDs after having too many savegame files. you might try moving most of the savegame files to a different folder on your computer.

In my case, I haven't had many CTDs even after 170 hours or so, a few times mainly when attempting to take a screenshot.

Thanks for the input. I've tried that and a slew of other possible fixes that I either read about or attempted on my own. Odd that you got a CTD when taking a screenshot. Then again, the Steam overlay (if you used the F12 key from it) is definitely creating its own issues with Skyrim.

I'll probably try again when patches come out. I'm also waiting for the official mod tools so we can possible have a proper GUI for the PC.

I looked at that, but the comments section had a mixed reaction to its usefulness so I didn't bother dl'ing it.  I guess I'll try.

Your horse will hang out at the stable of the city you're currently in. And (at least in my game) fast travel to just about anywhere and when you get there, your horse will be right there, waiting for you.

PS: Shadowmere is awesome.

Until Skyrim allows mounted combat, I'll never use a horse. Getting off the darn thing every time a wolf, mudcrap or whatever shows up is way too annoying.

On another note, has anyone run into a dragon which didn't give you a soul? Killed one earlier today, and I looted it, and. . . ., well, it just sat there . . . no fire, no lightshow, no soul . . . just sat there.

That can't be right, can it?

It has been helping with random CTDs and will probably come in handy with the more mods you add. It's quite simple to manipulate and then decide it that's what you need.

Of course, this presupposes I can even figure out how to install a mod.... still quite unused to Windows 7 and I can't find a damn thing, nor can Nexus Manager install itself properly.

@TJPags- I have had a couple that didn't give up a soul.

Here's a good tip for win7 users. How to enable the Quick Launch back as it was removed by default but it is still there. Since I got my Win 7, long ago, I hated the "pinned to taskbar" thing. My quick launch icons on my taskbar are a lot more helpful and effective. =)

Had it happen twice. Thought I might be too full of souls but the next one did give a soul.

Never used the carriage, don't understand what it gets over fast travel.

I use the FT all the time - mostly when I'm trying to sell off my loot because I have to go so many places. If I actually walked I've never be able to empty my inventory of crap.

Oh, never even got in one to know it would take you to undiscovered lands. Now that is useful.

Mods also come with a readme file with instructions. I'd wait until the toolset comes along , as well as pressing bugs taken care of.

I did get it installed- but still CTD'ing.

Heh, I found out where all the deposed jarls are. They're hiding out in the basement of the Blue Palace. They've got choice things to say to you. lol Jarl Barlgruuf called me a "milk drinker." He's lucky he keeps his bejeweled head, too.

Finisher!

For a long time I thought that was an incredibly lame khajiit specific insult.

I suppose it's more polite than insulting your manhood or womanhood.  lol

Ummm...it is an insult to your manhood.

I'm thinking of Macbeth when I hear that.

Yea, I killed another one later, and it gave me a soul . . .second one was a blood dragon, first was just a dragon . . . do dragons stop giving souls after a while or something?

Luckily, there are plenty of dragons, so one missing soul shouldn't be an issue . . . . i'm just wondering if it's a bug, glitch, or there's some gameplay reason?
