We should talk about something more fun, like Daedric weapons. Or spouses fighting with housecarls over dropped weapons. Or butterflies.

*chase butterfly, plunge off precipice*

I know they put those things near cliff edges on purpose.

I knew something was weird about those butterflies! They must be in cahoots with one of the Daedric princes.

I agree on the Daedric weapons.  I don't like the way the armor looks, but I duel wield 2 enchanted war axes.  If there's a cap on attack I think I reached it lol. You can get one axe up to like 280 attack, and I have two of them. I use a daedric bow too.

But better I gave Mjoll an enchanted twohand axe with elemental damage and absrob health and she just owns anything lol.

She is a tank, at that, and she's also my wife. She's the one I was referring to - she and Argis the Bulwark in Markarth like to draw their blades and fight over anything I drop. I finally had to start storing dropped weapons in cupboards, because I was sure one of them would be dead when I got home.

I love the mace of Molag Bal, but I wish you didn't have to keep recharging it with soul gems. Image IPB

Aside from her relentless yapping, Mjoll seems to have one of the better AIs, as far as companions go. I am using Farkwad for now, and notice that he takes forever to start following. At least he's quiet, though.

My Orc just married Borghak the Steel Heart. Together we will remember Skyrim why the enemies of the Empire fear the charge of Orcs in heavy armor!

We will make Malacath proud!

Who is your wife? Just curious, so I don't make that mistake in future playthroughs. Image IPB

She is a tank.  She hasn't died once on me yet.  Oh, she's gone down under the fire of a dragon or the insane magic of other bosses, but not once has she died on me.  I couldn't keep Lydia alive, so I had to pack her off to the house to sit in my bedroom and eat because I got tired of reloading nearly every encounter. Mjoll, uses just about any weapon you give her, with great effect normally, and she mixes it up.  I decided to enchant her a great sword and let her harvest souls for me.  We now have so many filled soul gems, I just store them in a barrel; and they just keep piling up.

Of course I pay her back for her great service by sticking her with at least two arrows in every fight.  I swear she is programmed to step directly into the line of fire right upon release of any arrow; not to mention when I'm shield and sword, I end up bashing her at least once in every encounter, which really seems to ****** her off.  It's never intended, but it just seems to be always dark when I decide to go to close combat.

Anyway, I love Mjoll; incessant chatter and all.

Ysolda, the apsiring Nord merchant in Whiterun. Repeatedly hearing "What haven't you seen a strong Nord woman before?" every time I walked past her made me kind of mad

I did the same. It was kind of cool that various NPCs you have met from all over Skyrim travel to Riften to attend the ceremony, including Borgakh's parents who made the trek from the complete opposite corner of the map.

http://cloud.steampo...4E02CD034DE45B/

Then I moved into her house and found out we have to share with the chief, his wife and his mother the witch doctor.

And the chief stole the wedding bed. There was not any available place in the longhouse for me to sleep.:?

http://cloud.steampo...677451C80D3D75/

As I found her communal longhouse to be somewhat lacking in amenities, I tried reloading an earlier save and marrying a different follower, Jenassa.

Surprisingly, I found that you can become "engaged" to numerous NPCs at the same time, but only the most recent one actually participates.

Borgakh even attended, despite having nagged me to talk to the priest about marrying her so many times. Although when she said "I wish happiness for both of you," I must admit it sounded a little bit insincere. Perhaps she was holding a grudge.

http://cloud.steampo...8F433BFD2C5862/

Sadly, Jenassa's house was even worse. I learned that she is essentially a homeless barfly in the Drunken Huntsman tavern. I checked all the beds, but they were owned - Jenassa doesn't sleep, she just sits in the corner of the bar 24/7. Very sad when she said she made a "home-cooked meal." Also, I don't think Jenassa has the option to become a merchant like Borgakh.

http://cloud.steampo...FB6D5E0CAA68FD/

So I reloaded the save with Borgakh and saved up to buy the house in Solitude, which was really amazing.

I never imagined how convenient it would be to dump all of the crap I was carrying around in categorized and organized containers - it turned out I was carrying around 200 lbs of potions and alchemical ingredients!

Get the Black Star of Azura, it's a soul gem that can take any soul and doesn't break after use. That an Molag Bal's mace are a brilliant combination to recharge anything you need

I love Lydia and hate to admit this, but this is true.  Unless there's a dragon she's using the axe and she's always on the front line.  Lydia for some reason no matter how good a shield and sword I give her started using a bow all the time, which would always make her lag behind me.

Just an FYI for those that dont already know.  If your wife/spouse dies, you CANNOT remarry.  EVER.  Until you create a new character lol

I don't use companions anymore (really got sick and tired of accidently destroying them via friendly fire). But when I used to use Lydia I loaded her up with weapons of all types to see what she'd use, and to my surprize she often  decided to dual-wield STAVES. I gave her Sanguine's Rose (sp) and a staff of paralysis, and she eagerly spammed both of them. At any time in a given fight, we'd have a Dremora fighting at our side, and an enemy that's frozen in place doing absolutely nothing.

I went down the other path on that quest, and I don't think I have a saved game that far back in time. I'm up to over 600 saves (6 that I rewrite), over 150+ hours, so unfortunately, I have no idea when I did that.

Aradace? What are you doing here, stranger? Nice to see you!

And good to know about the spouse and remarrying. I think next time, I'm going to marry a guy. The ones I have my eye on are both mages...and no, I don't mean J'Zargo.

I got married but my wife walked away and I don't know where she is. Is your spouse automatically supposed to go to one of your homes?

Since many people seem to travel with Mjoll: What did you do with her "follower"? Did you... uh... feed him to a dragon? :D

He's still alive...for now. We all moved to Markarth, so at least he's not directly under foot.

Aradace will have to tell you what he did with Aerin; it's quite funny. Image IPB

I never see him when she's my companion.  I think he just hangs around when you're married.

^ I think you're right, Aaleel.

Have any of you guys used Jenassa as a follower? I put her in glass armor, and now the image of her running around in that ugly-as-sin armor is burned in my mind. What were they thinking? Ugh. Aside from that, the first time I directed her to open a lock, and she told me no, I knew our adventuring together would be short-lived. I let her keep the crappy armor.

The path you take has the same reward. Azura's Star is a rechargeable soul gem. The only difference from the black version is that you won't take "black" souls. All humanoid playable races have black souls. Unless you're playing the mad necromancer, it won't make much difference. There are still plenty Grand Souls to be taken from white soul bearers.

I'd like to travel with Illia again. She would make a nice wife. I have plenty houses to set us up and I wouldn't want to live in her tower with those harpies around! =)
