Skyrim is a amazing game but there is something seriously wrong with it. The dragons in this game are more likely to run away from you then a deer. When somebody tells you "I can't beat a dragon" in other games , it is normally because of a tough fight etc. But in Skyrim it because the bloody thing keeps buggering off! They don't attack you. All they do is roar, fly around in circles, roar again and then fly away. Not only that but they run away from you! In my last encounter I spent a good half-hour chasing the damn thing. In the end I got bored and walked away.I've only killed three dragons in this game and two of them were quest related, the other was high up in the mountains so there was not enough 'room' for the thing to fly away. This is probably the only game in history where the dragon runs away from the player. I have taken more damage from mudcrabs then dragons. It's just not right, not right at all.

I've never seen them act like that. There are some that just like to fly around and make noise, but the rest will most certainly attack.

Have you gone up to see the Greybeards? If you haven't, that might be why. I didn't go up there until I was around 20-25 levels into the game, and not a single one attacked me until after that point.

One of the things addressed on the patch coming out tomorrow is Dragons not attacking properly.

the Dovakiin is the only one that can actually KILL a dragon. i think its a cool  little gimickthat some of the dragons are scared off by that factImage IPB

Well not really. My first dragon 'fight' involved me running around while the guards killed it with arrows. My only real involvement was having its soul leap into me as I ran up to loot it.

It's not that they are scared or run away. They're taunting you! If you go near their battlefield, then they attack. I thought it was weird when I first saw that. I too chased one for a while, spent a lot of arrows and shouts trying to bring it the fight and nothing. Later, after some 5 with very short interval, it happened again and I began to understand the pattern. And a few more times after that. =)

I'm pretty sure it was quite dead prior to that. Unofficially perhaps.

*spoiler

if i know the lore correctly, every dragon you see flying around has been ressurected right? if you ask me, when a dragon is 'killed' by a normal person its soul gets trapped in its dead body until the body is ressurected.
no soul, no ressurection possible.

For RP purposes it must be really interesting she turned out to be an All-Time Powerful Dragon Slayer.

I think it's kinda funny when the Guards say "You can't really be the Dragonborn of legend, can you?", because Pierelle doesn't look like it at 5'2" or however short female Bretons are. She might be the hero of ledgend but somebody needs to help her get things off the top of the shelves.

YouthCultureForever wrote...
And how did you come with her name? I haven't heard that before.

It's French, like many Breton names. I draw names from a wide array of sources many for fantasy games are Medieval names from Europe.

What mods are you using so far? I've
taken a bit of a break from Skyrim for the past week or so and am going
to put on some mods- probably after the patch comes out Wednesday at
least.

Mostly cosmetic mods, for eyes and skins. As well as a few other, some that correct little oversights like the Orcish Shield not being the same colour as the armour or books with real "papery" looking pages. Without the creation kit there is a limit to what you can do but I don't find Skyrim in need of of much tweaking or correction. The most must have thing in my opinion is the 4GB extender since it dramatically increases stability.

To be 100% safe, I would wait with installing the patch tomorrow.

The PS3 patch introduced a new bug and now magic resistance doesn't work anymore: http://forums.bethso...st__p__19526329

The guards aren't terribly observant. Following a fine tradition of Game Guards being near blind. They keep asking me if I've seen the Curved Swords of Hammerfel. ("Curved. Swords.")

Yeah buddy I think I might have seen the pair of scimitars I'm wearing...

Did you guys know....

The farther you get into the MQ the higher the chance of a random dragon? So for all those people who have far to many dragon encounters....you can finish the MQ to set it back to the average (which I think is the point after you meet the Greybeards).

Has anyone here used Glass armor? I'm curious to know how good it is compared to heavy armor.

Depends on your light armor skill.  Personally, I think it's the ugliest armor ever made. Image IPB ...but looks aren't everything.

I have my light armor skill maxed out, and for my character (who has fairly low heavy armor skill), glass is better than ebony.

Yeah, I'm looking at pictures of it now - and I'm not impressed. It's worse than it was in Oblivion IMHO.

The Glass armor in Morrowind was so much cooler looking, as was the Daedric (though Daedric doesn't look too bad in this one).

I like the look of Ebony best overall - I can upgrade it to the max armor rating pretty easily thanks to a special ring, so it's just as strong as Daedric.

Oh, and BTW - Dragonplate armor looks HORRIBLE. It's the ugliest armor in the game, bar none. I'll never waste a perk on it again (unless I go Light Armor next game).

I actually think that glass is one of the better looking armors. Taste is a funny thing :D

But I really don't like both dragon armors. They look... weird.

My Breton is named Lielle, but I admit, I used a name generator to come up with that. Image IPB

Taste IS a funny thing! I can't believe someone actually prefers Oblivion's Glass Armor. That ****ty design was just horrible! A green Robocop.

Finally got that suit. Nothing says 'Batman' like the Nightingale armor. You even go into a cave headquarters to put it on. There really needed to be a Nightingalemobile. Or at least a Nightingalesteed.

Famitsu gave Skyrim a 40 out of 40. It's the first western game to ever get a perfect score from them!

Not really. Fighting the first named and quest related Dragon is what triggers the random encounters. I did it at level 19. had a great time before that...  hehe After that and before I ever visited High Hroath and the Greybeards, I probably killed some 15 random Dragons. After I visited them, another 15. And I didn't advance the MQ much. Just 3 more missions after my  "trial". But then, I'm about to hit 220 hours of gameplay time! And there is still so much to do!

I'm giving up. I'll start fast travelling to complete quests, at least, or I'll never ever finish this game! =)
