OK, so why the .... would you be interested in Skyrim in the first place then ??
It's obviously meant top be a twitch/action game.
Not obvious enough, I guess. But I will pass on it now.
I don't know why people are ripping on you, man (c'mon guys!!). It's cool you took the time to check the game out and ask questions. It's not constant pausing, but I play a style where I pause now and then to incrementally add poisons, analyze and select certain spells, pick out appropriate weapons, etc. It isnt freeze frame, at least that as a new feature hasn't been confirmed, but there is enough ability to pause to add a big layer of strategy.
You could be fighting a dragon, pause.....take a look at potions, spells, what have you (explained like this for example, depending on strength: Resist Fire- Resist Fire 19% for 76 seconds on Self) and take precise methodical measure throughout combat to precisely govern statistics after analyzing circumstances.
I'm playing The Elder Scrolls IV right now, and I will give another example. This was a potion i made through alchemy....I have a powerful Restore Fatigue potion (Restore Fatigue 11pts for 42 seconds, Detect Life 43 ft for 173 secs on Self, Burden 1 pt for 1 sec on Self)
The Elder Scrolls is definitely a different type of game, but its statistics and flexibility with incrementally controlling your characters ability and combat is pretty flexible. You can play in third person all the time if you want, and its vastly improved.
Not trying to convince you either way, just trying to share information so you have a better idea. There is plenty of exploration (a big world map, but subterranean passages are complex and massive, too) that doesn't involve combat.
