LMAO! Thanks for sharing! Great stuff! =)

And, OMG, OMG, OMG! I'm doing so much better with the new char, even if it is the same char dev path. and I mean like 1,000 times better. I had to check the Settings to make sure it was on Master because game feels  so much easier. I am finding stuff much better than I ever did the first time at this low level. I fight, kill and defend myself so much better than the first time.

Only danger I faced was to shoot some arrows in first person vs an archer on the other side of a bridge inside a mine, in first person view, and an Orc bandit marauder came with an Steel Greataxe - which I claimed for myself - unnoticed (no mark on the compass) and started hitting me and I thought it was the arrows! Once I engaged him he was dead fast. Ahh, the power of experience! Woot! Let's see how far I can go without ever dying! Hardcore Mode FTW!

The bandits in the wilderness who gave me so much trouble first time? Cheese eaters! Oh, and to clear the map of any locations, use the console command TMM 0 (1 enables, 2 disables). Guess I won't be fast traveling this time at all! =) - EDIT: It just erases all locations from the map and they appear again as we discover them again. And TMM 1 will show ALL locations in the map, even if not yet discovered. That's not what I wanted. *sighs*. Anyone knows a way, command or mod, to keep the map clean even if we discover a location? TMM 0 would work but I'd need to keep using it after discovering each location. (the M to shop quest pointer on the map still works with no location discovered on it)

I can't live without fast travel. I adventure when I want to adventure, town when I want to town.

The good news is, the beds at home ARE giving a Well Rested bonus, they just don't show a notification.

Does Sapphire serve any purpose in the game, other than taunting me with being unavailable to marry?

Finally got that suit. Nothing says 'Batman' like the Nightingale armor. You even go into a cave headquarters to put it on. There really needed to be a Nightingalemobile. Or at least a Nightingalesteed.

If you have shadowmere you basically do lol.

I  also wanted to ask because I was curious...Do summoned/bound weapons get stronger with the Conjuration skill or their respective weaspon skill?  Because if it's the former, cool, that'd be a skill I'd like to use when I roll my mage.  If it's the latter, then BAHHHH!!!  From what Ive been told both skills level up when you use one which is why it has me a little concerned.  Of course, Im not going to roid rage if that's the case it's just that I like planning characters out months ahead of time that way I know what skills sets they have before hand and whatnot so that I can focus more on playing the character that Ive created and less on "what concept Im going to use"^_^

He's still alive...for now. We all moved to Markarth, so at least he's not directly under foot.

Aradace will have to tell you what he did with Aerin; it's quite funny. Image IPB

it's quite the tale really.  Kaldaka (my character at the time) comes home early one morning (around 4am) because he had a lot of gear to sell and he figured I'll just wake up the wifie and get at least some of it off my pack before laying down for some shut eye.   Exhausted, he slowly pulls off his Nightingale hood and walks into his Riften home and before he can even set down his blade, what does he see?  Mjoll, in bed, with AERIN...In his home!!!

Now typically, a man would get blindingly angry at this sight right away, and either stab the man in his sleep or wake him up and do so.  But not Kaldaka, ohhhhh no, Kaldaka had something a tad more sinister in mind.  So with a wry grin, he carefully sneaks out the back door so as to not wake either of them and onto his back porch.  After looking around to make sure there were not guards or other civilians within eyeshot, he says to himself "Hope she curled your toes my friend because it'll be the last bit of action you'll ever get, from anyone."

And with that, he begins shifting into his werewolf form.  A gift given to him from his forebearer Aela of the Companions during their secret rite.  Once transformed, he rushes back into the house and without so much as a "by your leave" begins to rip and rend the flesh from Aerin's bones.  And then to add insult to injury, he feasts upon him after the deed is done.  Afterwards he quickly sprints out the back door as he knows he only has a couple of minutes before he transforms back into his mortal form.  And if Mjoll, or the guards witnessed it, he'd pretty much be done for.

Long story short, after a couple more dead guards and some children running for their lives,  Kaldaka found a safe place away from prying eyes just as he was beginning to revert back to his Nordic body.  Pleased with the results of his "hunt", he redonned his armor and walked back home, even acting surprised at the half eaten corpse that was once Aerin sitting in his home with his wife, Mjoll none the wiser of his bestial nature

I'd advise everyone to keep Steam offline for now. The 1.2 patch has been confirmed to nullify all magic resistance both on X360 and PS3, meaning your Nord will no longer have frost resistance, etc.

Not to mention the patch doesn't fix any quest glitches. My High Elf currently has 81% magic resistance, no way I'm losing that due to Bethesda's sloppiness.

That's not entirely true.  It's only happening to some folks apparently.  Because I just checked out my Nord and he still has 100% frost resistance.  Even went and tested it and sure enough, still totallly resistant with 0 damage.  Damn, sucks to be those folks I suppose

What do you mean, 100%? Not from Racial Bonus alone, right? It's only 50%! =) - (And I ain't patching my game until a confirmed good release)

Addai67 wrote...Dude.  You are starting to sound whiny.  It is not "abusing the system" to cast an atronach again if one dies.  That's what conjurers do.  Are you taking a companion to use as a meat shield?  If you're playing a pure mage, you're going to have to adjust a bit.  That's the bottom line.  If you're struggling on a particular build, adjust your strategy, face the fact you screwed up on your leveling, and/or put down the difficulty level until you get something that suits your game.

You should not be able to have "breaking" builds in a game. I can't think of a series other than TES where there are builds that even defenders admit don't work that well - and so far you and Yak have basically said nothing but "get a different build". That said, I have adjusted from what I'd call a pure mage type build to one that is now more of a skirmisher/mage. Really once I moved to actually wearing light armor and not robes and then started to smith and enchant the armor as I moved up things got a lot easier but that whole sequences is what bothers me so much. People whined about not being able to play as an archer fighter in DA2, this is not being able to play as a Destruction/Restoration/One Handed/Speech/Lockpick mage in TES. Same thing only you want to like this game so criticism isn't just.

As for summoning, yes when they run out you resummon, no kidding. What I mean is that just casting and recasting them is abusive because other than trying to level there's no reason the character, not me the player, would do those things. Really, it isn't even that issue as much as the fact that atronarch and companions follow - literally - behind you and if you are a light end character that's not all that useful so I wind up recasting the atronarch (whihc helps my leveling) in front of me because it won't get there on it's own - which is more an AI/control limitation than anything. What is gamey is that I used to cast ahead of me into rooms from the halls - let the atronarch do my recon work and draw fire. Then I realized there were no red dots so I was getting alomost nothing for casting because it wasn't combat casting so once again a good idea is snuffed out my the leveling system and now I wait until the red dot shows up and then toss the atronarch out front.

Really overall had I gone heavy build most of the issues would be moot. I'd be armor equipped and any "lighter" companions I brought along should be behind me so that'd work too. It is just that the type of character I picked didn't work well with game mechanics and NPC AI.

Since the patch my dragons have been acting weird. Their animations are buggered and they just kind of travel by stop motion every once in a while. And they seems to get stuck in the air, or they're doing the dragon version of the running man.

EDIT: Ok now it's flying backwards what the ****?

What is this first person point of view you speak of? Third person is the only way to play. And for that you need to look good all over.

How do you play TPV because the animations make it look like I'm skating over the landscape? I tried because I prefer the TP view in general just because I do get to see my character but other than werewolf time I just can't do it.

I only play in TPV because in 1PV you're nothing more than a pair of floating hands with weapons or spells in them.  If im in 1PV, I expect to be able to look down and see my feet.  For me, 1PV is a hell of a lot more immersion breaking than TPV.

To me it looks like you are complaining about something you clearly have no idea about.
Why don't you learn the mechanics first, and complain then ?

You don't have to summon astronarch during combat to get your conjuration experience up.
You can do it outside of combat - and then enter the combat with your astronarch.
The moment you enter the combat (red dot shows up) you will get the experience for summoning him.

I am not even playing or using magic and I know things like that.

And now I can show you that I am not talking crap here:

See that dude up there ? He can't see me, I am not in combat :

Image IPB

I am only one step form leveling up Conjuration

Image IPB

Now I am summoning Astronach (outside of combat - no red dots)

Image IPB

And finally I am entering the combat and ... ...  and just look what is happening :

No idea what you're talking about. I run just fine along the landscape.

They definately improved Third person this time around. In Oblivion only melee was playable in third, but ranged targeting was a mess. But I can manage ranged just fine in Skyrim.

Yeah, so...speaking of ugly armor, I got the Savior's Hide from Hircine last night; what a piece of crap. The enchantments are mediocre at best, and the armor rating is abysmal.

Seriously, that hide is a Daedric reward? If Bethesda is going to make us look like Xena, Warrior Princess, I prefer the Armor of the Old Gods. Pffth.

On a slightly cheerier note, I got Volsung's mask a little later, bought the house in Solitude, and killed my first official named dragon (second one, technically). Woo! Ghorbash was impressed.

Alot of folks ignore me because they believe me to be an ass...Which is true, Im a CPA (Certified Professional ****hole) And because I dont have the sunshine-and-rainbows-lets everyone stand in a cirlce and hold hands while singing kumbahya because everyone should get along and be happy mentality that some of those folks have, they choose to hate and/or ignore me entirely.  But I digress.  Point is, I'll definitely be taking the ring as the reward then when I get around to doing that quest.  Less space to take up in my inventory and house

^ Well, that's kind of sad, really. Oh well, I like you.

Speaking of house inventory, I'm struggling with how to deal with 3 houses full of crap. I mean...I have two chests jam-packed in Whiterun full of goodies, plus some random weapons in Riften, and OMG...in Markarth, I have stuff spread out between like 5 chests, plus a couple of bookcases. If I want to consolidate, it causes a bit of an organizational problem.

I wish there was a way to hire moving guys to bring all that crap to the house in Solitude, or that I had a big 'ole Santa bag and sleigh to bring it. *sigh* Do you think that guy with the cart and horse could carry it for me? No? Dang.

Oh, and regarding Hircine and the ring...there IS a way to get both items, but the Savior's Hide really isn't worth it, tbh.

thats why I use the merchant exploit to sell everything in one trip lol.  that way, only the stuff I really want to keep stays in my house(s) lol
