^ Well, that's kind of sad, really. Oh well, I like you.

Speaking of house inventory, I'm struggling with how to deal with 3 houses full of crap. I mean...I have two chests jam-packed in Whiterun full of goodies, plus some random weapons in Riften, and OMG...in Markarth, I have stuff spread out between like 5 chests, plus a couple of bookcases. If I want to consolidate, it causes a bit of an organizational problem.

I wish there was a way to hire moving guys to bring all that crap to the house in Solitude, or that I had a big 'ole Santa bag and sleigh to bring it. *sigh* Do you think that guy with the cart and horse could carry it for me? No? Dang.

I've kept my blacksmithing materials in Whiterun due to the proximity to the smelter and the additional armor that can be made at the Skyforge. I lugged everything else (on horseback) to Solitude and try and organize items by their appropriate room. So my ingredients are in the basement near the Apothecary lab, I've stuck a couple of outfits on my mannequins and have cool-looking-but-seldom used weapons in the racks.

I believe the fully furnished Solitude has like four or five book cases and I dumped the rest in one of the several drawers or end tables. There are enough storage spaces that I'm able to separate everything by category generally... Ingredients, Food, Armor, Weapons, Misc, Books etc...

Works for me!

Oh, and regarding Hircine and the ring...there IS a way to get both items, but the Savior's Hide really isn't worth it, tbh.

thats why I use the merchant exploit to sell everything in one trip lol.  that way, only the stuff I really want to keep stays in my house(s) lol

Yeah, but just like IRL, I'm a bit of a packrat, so I keep all that crap, thinking I might want it someday. I mean...do you have any idea how many Staff of the Familiars I have stashed? Orichalum ingots? Human hearts? I might need those!
Image IPB

I would love for merchants to have more cash, though. It's ridiculous only being able to sell a little bit at a time to each one. I know I could use a couple of perks to get to that level in Speech, but I just don't want to. /stomp

@Veex - that's my plan; I just have to get everything there to be able to organize it.

Well on a related note, its not something the game really tells you, but if you are overburdened, jump on your horse and you'll be able to fast travel and move normally.

Just in case anyone out there didn't know that. (Like myself until yesterday) Image IPB

I didn't know that. I wish I could have a horse. After seeing Frost get killed by bandits, I just can't do it. It's too painful. I even re-loaded, but stupidly didn't keep Frost for myself.

On a slightly related note, I witnessed that Louis Letrush guy get murdered by a thug out in the wilderness, courtesy of Maven Black-Briar! I know that, because the thug said something to that effect. Weird!

Check the Riften stables the next time you're there. I've seen a horse that I didn't have to purchase or steal but I was able to ride there on a few occasions that I've used when I need to mule some junk from home to home. They'll generally reappear when you fast travel also but they immediately start walking back towards whichever town you picked them up at.

I am just keeping the top level gear in appropriate places. Armor I do not use on Mannequin. Wear light leave Heavy on Mannikin and visa verso. Books relevent to local history in appropriate city. Staffs and robes at the Mages college. I upgrade loot at forge or enchant with commons then sell everything. All petty gems go to Mages enchanter as per repeatable mini quests. All food and excess potions get sold also. Scrolls get used up as soon as I get them. really have nothing to hang onto as I am sure I will lose at least two houses perhaps all by the end of civil war quest-line.

If you were still on your first playthrough, I might argue that point with you, but since you're on what...your third? I'll allow it. Image IPB

My new goal is to find all of the masks. Krosis handed my arse to me the first time I bumped into him, and I haven't been back to finish him off. Maybe he'll be next on my agenda.

@lobi - I think my biggest problem are alchemy ingredients. I like to stop and pick up all of the flowers (I picked up that bad habit in Oblivion), so I have a literal ton of that kind of stuff stashed. I keep thinking I'll spend some time brewing potions, but it's just...so...boring. I find myself going out on quests, picking up only the best stuff (plus those pesky ingredients), then coming home and dumping stuff. At least I figured out eventually to start storing "like" items in the same place. I just didn't have that luxury when I only had the Whiterun house.

it's due to the radiance system in Skyrim.  Once you helped enough people out in a hold, one of the things theyll let you take in some places for "free" is a horse.  Of course, none of them compare to Shadowmere.  ^_^

The Riften horse becomes 'borrowable' after you move along the Thieves guild line a bit. Not sure if its due to the guild or the quest for Maven. Or might possibly be connected to the stablehand quest. But When you first arrive at riften it is a crime to take it.

But any stolen horse works fine for fast travel purposes, and no pain of ownership.Image IPB

I'll consider getting a horse...sometime. Honestly, between the Frost debacle and the fact that you have to get down from the horse for combat (oh, and that your follower can't ride one), it just doesn't seem worth it to me. I can run pretty fast in Nightingale armor.

However, I must say that I'm looking forward to meeting Odahviing!

Only issue I have with Skyrim (just one can think of) is I wanted to clean up Riften from corruption and thieves guild wipe them out much like can do with Dark Brotherhood but game wont let me. Thats only negative major one I feel about game. Apart from that I'm still loving the game. TW2 and Skyrim best RPGs of this year with DE:HR coming third imho.

Edited: The excutioners hat thing been patched.

Wow. That's great news for Beth. :)

Currently doing my second character. Another female dark elf. I can't get enough of those. :) After my first character, I want this one to focus sneak, archery, light armor and forget about magic this time. I'll do speech and smithing instead, but only if there's room for it. And I want to do more of the side quests. My character is level 12 now and has bought the house in Whiterun. I have investigated all marriage options, but I think I'll stick again with Aela. I am now doing the Companion quests. I will also join the Stormcloacks (last time I did the Legion quests).

TW2 and skyrim are too different for comparison. TW2 is not an open world rpg like skyrim is.

I'd advise everyone to keep Steam offline for now. The 1.2 patch has been confirmed to nullify all magic resistance both on X360 and PS3, meaning your Nord will no longer have frost resistance, etc.

Not to mention the patch doesn't fix any quest glitches. My High Elf currently has 81% magic resistance, no way I'm losing that due to Bethesda's sloppiness.

That's not entirely true.  It's only happening to some folks apparently.  Because I just checked out my Nord and he still has 100% frost resistance.  Even went and tested it and sure enough, still totallly resistant with 0 damage.  Damn, sucks to be those folks I suppose

That's...Impossible?    Aren't   Resistances capped at 80%?  I know Armor and Magic is.  Even if you're showing 125% magic resistance (for example), you're still only gonna shrug off 80% of it.

You should not be able to have "breaking" builds in a game. I can't think of a series other than TES where there are builds that even defenders admit don't work that well - and so far you and Yak have basically said nothing but "get a different build".

First of all, you're putting words into my mouth.  I said you might have to admit you screwed up your leveling, meaning you weren't taking the perks that were crucial to survival at lower levels.  Secondly, this statement is bollocks.  Any game with flexibility in the character creation system (i.e., any RPG) creates the possibility that you can get a character who dies a lot.  You're just making up arbitrary rules then blaming the system for your inflexibility.

On my first character, I realized pretty quickly that I had made a mistake by not taking combat perks early, and spending perks on things like Lockpicking that weren't helping me.  I re-started my character and so far I have found this the most balanced game I've played.

As for summoning, yes when they run out you resummon, no kidding. What I mean is that just casting and recasting them is abusive because other than trying to level there's no reason the character, not me the player, would do those things. Really, it isn't even that issue as much as the fact that atronarch and companions follow - literally - behind you and if you are a light end character that's not all that useful so I wind up recasting the atronarch (whihc helps my leveling) in front of me because it won't get there on it's own - which is more an AI/control limitation than anything. What is gamey is that I used to cast ahead of me into rooms from the halls - let the atronarch do my recon work and draw fire. Then I realized there were no red dots so I was getting alomost nothing for casting because it wasn't combat casting so once again a good idea is snuffed out my the leveling system and now I wait until the red dot shows up and then toss the atronarch out front.

I'm confused.  You're complaining that you can't level by randomly casting outside combat, but such random casting is "abusive" anyway??

What you say is impossible is how I  typically use my summons.  Are you just charging into rooms?   I stealth into an area and when I see a red dot, cast an atronach ahead of me.  If there is an enemy in range, the atronach will track the enemy and engage it.  Meanwhile I stay back and let the summon soften up the targets.   If I weren't a battle mage build, I would be casting Muffle in the meantime to stay hidden, and just keep re-summoning, or casting Frenzy/ Calm if I got in trouble.

Could I just ask - is there are specific reason why Madanach and his merry band of nutters keep attacking my vampire, despite her agreeing to help them?

They don't do it at first, but as soon as it hits six in the morning (which it does quickly, seeing as she was thrown in Cidnha mine in the middle of the night, she gets an extra vampiric power (due to not feeding), and then whether they witness it or not, as soon as they see her, they attack madly and shout "kill the vampire".

I never knew the Forsworn were so picky about who gets to be a member of Team Sociopathy. Image IPB Pah, I knew I should've become a werewolf instead.

I really liked the Japanese version of the bard singing. You can hear a little bit on the dev diary audio podcast at about 7 minute 15 sec in. The Italian, German and Spanish versions are pretty cool as well.

Really?  Try  Soloing a pure magic build 2-h warrior in Dragon Age (either game) on normal difficulty,  and don't take any of the non-combat skills.  Try your hardest to get past  12th level.    Then when you fail miserably,    come back and  apologize for making such an absurd  statement

And ANY Build works well in Skyrim.  You don't even need to leave this thread to get proof.  There are people here who swear that pure magic is Overpowered.   There are others, like me, who  can prove that a pure 2-handed melee build is overpowered.  And still Others here are having a blast  destroying anything in their path with a jack-of-all-trades build.

This is the 3rd time  on this thread that you've blamed Skyrim's design for your own  tactical-combat ignorance.  The problem isn't the game.  It's you.  Play on novice if the skeletons at bleak falls barrow are kicking your ass.

They're really antisocial?  I don't know, I suffered pangs of conscience after helping Madanach and ended up turning on him once we got outside in Markarth.

About storage, etc.:  My home base has been Hjerim, so I tend to go back there to do most stuff, but I like the Markarth house, too, so I've been dumping some stuff there.

Markarth stirs my love for jumping off high places.  Last night I made a graceful sailing leap from outside Vlindrel Hall down to the front gate, and landed in front of a town guard who immediately said "watch the skies, traveler."  lolol

so anyway the thalmor are the obvious threat to both Skyrim and the Empire. they would make a very good enemy to fight in the future DLC. Many important NPC has stated the White gold concordant treaty was not meant to last. though i have to ask how big is the Thalmor Dominion? I know they control Summer Set Islands but what else?

I don't imagine either side thinks that there will be a long-lasting peace with the Thalmor. Even the Legion attests to the idea that the Legionnaires have issues with what the Thalmor are doing to the people, and General Tullius thinks that the peace won't last.

And, IMHO, the Thalmor Justiciars are begging for the Dovahkiin to kill them...

(sorry for the double post) I hope theres a Psijic Order DLC.

I'd like to see more of the Psijic Order, too. The mystery behind their 'disappearance' is a cool concept, and I'd imagine that the Dovahkiin who played a role at the events of the College of Winterhold might still play a role in future events involving them.
