I just learned that Skyrim will be for consoles only. Then they will make port for consoles. So probably this will be another casual crap.

http://www.elderscro...yrim/pre-order/
You're completely right thats why the pre-order page clearly has a PC box and pick any retailer and there on the page the option to pre order for pc/mac is right there.
A huge sprawling world with giant dragons and tons of miles of space is casual crap... There ain't a hardcore game out there big enough for you buddy.

I think Dariusz meant to say that it will be ported to PC.

Which is true, and to some extent it might have been an even more ambitious game if it was made for PC and then ported to console instead.

However, I think Oblivion was also a port from console to PC if I'm not mistaken and that's probably my favorite game so far. From what I've seen so far of Skyrim I'm super hyped and hopefully mods can add more complex features or fix things if something needs improving.

OK,  so why the hell would you be interested in Skyrim in the first place then ??

It's obviously meant top be a twitch/action game.

How could you expect anything less? Their recent games has all been ports from console to PC and given the fact that the console players are dominating the market it's just easier to do it this way than the other way around.

That said, Todd Howard has promised us a PC version of the AI and more detailed textures. What else do you want exactly? And if he can't keep his promise I am going to cry for a little while and then download one of the inevitable UI mods that looks better than anything Bethesda can accomplish anyway.

Well I would assume the previous Elder Scrolls would be enough >.>

Sucks that the game is made for consoles and just tweaked for PC. I hated Oblivion because of that.

Never played MW; just own it. It like PS:T, BG1 & 2, and some others remain unplayed while I remain a NWN1 and DA addict.

Elhanan,  if you like tactical rpgs and DA, you should REALLY start playing BG 1&2 (get Baldurs Gate Trilogy mod) , PS:T,  Fallout 1&2, Icewind Dale 1&2, Temple of Elemental Evil (get circle of eight 6.0 update),   some of the Wizardry and Ultima games were execellent too.

Here's a good spot for infinity engine mods www.shsforums.net/

There's also Knights of the Chalace www.heroicfantasygames.com/  (which does combat very well)  and the Spiderweb indie rpgs www.spiderwebsoftware.com/

NWN is a different animal because of it's mp purposes.

Regarding Skyrim, I was most pleased about being able to play in a third person perspective. It might actually allow me to play one of their games for a change. Yay!

I don't know why people are ripping on you, man (c'mon guys!!). It's cool you took the time to check the game out and ask questions. It's not constant pausing, but I play a style where I pause now and then to incrementally add poisons, analyze and select certain spells, pick out appropriate weapons, etc. It isnt freeze frame, at least that as a new feature hasn't been confirmed, but there is enough ability to pause to add a big layer of strategy.

You could be fighting a dragon, pause.....take a look at potions, spells, what have you (explained like this for example, depending on strength: Resist Fire- Resist Fire 19% for 76 seconds on Self) and take precise methodical measure throughout combat to precisely govern statistics after analyzing circumstances.

I'm playing The Elder Scrolls IV right now, and I will give another example. This was a potion i made through alchemy....I have a powerful Restore Fatigue potion (Restore Fatigue 11pts for 42 seconds, Detect Life 43 ft for 173 secs on Self, Burden 1 pt for 1 sec on Self)

The Elder Scrolls is definitely a different type of game, but its statistics and flexibility with incrementally controlling your characters ability and combat is pretty flexible. You can play in third person all the time if you want, and its vastly improved.

Not trying to convince you either way, just trying to share information so you have a better idea. There is plenty of exploration (a big world map, but subterranean passages are complex and massive, too) that doesn't involve combat.

Well the point is no there will be no pause like in DA but in these games you won't need them.

There was no ripping at all.      And i think Elhanan was wondering if the game would allow for pausing during play, not being able to go into your inventory and do crap from there.

Fallout 3 could be played as less of an action game, and that was also developed by Bethesda. I had hoped Skyrim would be at least similar.

Yea, because of vats, which the ES games do not have.

Bethesda games aren't twitch games.  They don't have pause/ play, but you're not controlling a party so I don't really see this as necessary since the mechanics of combat are usually quite simple.

The only thing I didn't like from Oblivion is that you couldn't change weapon mid-combat.  I hope they change that, as it was annoying for an archer if you wanted to switch to melee for close combat.  At least you could change spells, quaff a potion etc.

Anyway to say that they're not RPGs is silly.  The RPG elements in Beth games are quite deep.  You can customize your characters a lot more than in Bioware games, for instance.  Otherwise it's hard to compare them since Bethesda specializes in open world exploration more than a controlled story.

Did I hear a rumor they might have an auto-target system in Skyrim like VATS in Fallout?

Come on now,  The stats were pretty superficious.
I played for Oblivion awhile, but ask me for any of the stats, attributes, or skills of my character? No clue. All the numbers in Oblivion are so irrelevant to the gameplay that you don't really need to visit that part of the menu.

As i said before, it's not a complex d&d type stat driven game, it's more about throwing into a world, as if
your the one out there actually exploring it.    More of a sim type game.

It's actually a good thing the Elder Scrolls games are moving away from trying to be an RPG. The structure of the
game and the manner in which skills level and such makes for a better action/rpg. It depends too much on player
skill. RPGs should stay turn-based or Rtwp as it removes the player element and makes it far easier to focus on the
character element.

HAHA and I can't for the life of me remember the stats of an of my characters ever... I guess none of them counts as RPGs.
Its all about the stats... i gotta know EXACTLY how much strength my character has at all times or its an action game?
Give a break the Elder Scrolls game is more RPG than most of those turn based crap you gush on about so much.  Is waiting for you're turn really what Roleplaying is about?

I don't see why such a system couldn't be used in Skyrim. I admit that it probably wouldn't be used by many players though.

I don't know what VATS is, but Skyrim will feature slight target magnetism for spells. Key word is slight, so it won't be a big deal either way.

VATS wasn't an auto targeting system it was freeze shot to leisurely take aim at your target. It was their way of making Fallout not feel like a straight up shooter and it worked in the world of fallout. Something like that would be so out of place in the elder scrolls.

V.A.T.S. is a system in Fallout for the player to pause the game, see how much health an enemy has, see how likely they are to hit an enemy, and to queue actions using actions points.
