And without those enchantments this is highest damage i can get out of it. Not sure if there is any way to get it higher.

So even considering you can attack 2x faster with the daggers - its 171 damage is not so impressive :(
This weapon is deffo not for tot-to-toe combat. At least not with some stronger enemies.

It's quite impressive if you have Assassin's Blade perk (15 x 171 = 2565 dmg for regular backstab, more if you do a power attack)

And there are plenty of necklaces, bracers, rings, potions, etc., that further increase 1H damage (including daggers).

Ah ok, thanks.
I was surprised that "fortify on handed" effect doesn't apply to daggers.
All potions and items witih "+% damage to one handed strike" enchantement are useless in this case. Image IPB

It does. All of those potions and items do apply to daggers.

I've used a lot of them. You can instantly see the base damage for your daggers increased in your inventory when you equip one of those items or drink a potion.

No it doesn't . I just finished testing that, just look :

I made two basic weapons - dagger and sword.

Now I am puttin on a few items with "+% Damage to one handed" - like this one for example:

Image IPB

You can see the results - damage didn't increase for dagger

Wow, that sucks. I just checked in-game with a potion and some bracers. This seems like a bug as I'm pretty sure I was seeing higher damage for my dagger previously.

I know some have reported that the Patch 1.2 removed a lot of the resistances from magic items and potions. Perhaps this was another unintended side effect.

Can you elaborate on this?

When I got the armsman perk, my dagger damage increased.

also when I got the Critical Charge perk, I was able to do a running power attack.

When I got the Savage Strike perk, I was able to decapitate enemies.

When I got the dual flurry perks, the speed of my attacks was increased.

AFAIK, the only 1h perks that do not apply to daggers are the specific perks for axes and swords. The Prima Guide Book says the same.

so what SKyrim is saying is, a stab to the kidneys is still lethal in a world where everyone wears metal suits and fights dragons.

First off all i was trying to say Enchantment tree there :) sorry for half written posts. Typing a little too fast for my liking.

Upper link(which was about powerleveling) shows that 1 handed damage upgrading enchants are not working on daggers. Which is a shame but not really a problem.

Still 2 shotting Elder Dragons with Power sneak attack+normal power atack with dual daggers. On expert difficulty.

What kind of strategy are you using to sneak up on dragons?

The Daedric Quests (and Sanguine's in particular) have been pretty spectacular so far. Bethesda really upped the ante in terms of downplaying the role of the basic fetch quest. Good on them.

They've made fetch quests a lot longer. I've still got an overwhelming # of fetch quests in my to do list and from what I can tell so far if you have a generic dungeon you get one map of rooms with the same monsters connected by narrow halls. If there is a quest item in that dungeon you get at least 2 maps of rooms with the same monsters connected by narrow corridors.

Death from above.
Find a place higher than their resting point. Then you can jump or roll onto them while sneaking.

Yup they cant detect you while you are ON TOP of them...

İf they are on the ground not on the stones then standart sneaking applies. Just dont sneak in front of them.
You can also attack their tails for full sneak effect but its harder to get behind them when they are on higher ground. They even sense invisibilty sometimes.

There is only one creature i count able to sneak behind.
Goddamn bears... They dont like Khajit smell at all it seems.

@Sidney ^^

Finally hit 100 Smithing last night and crafted my Dragonbone Plate armor. I'm in the process of trying to get some good decapatation or in combat screens. It is probably my favorite armor in terms of appearance thus far, though I haven't made the Dragonscale yet.

^ I'm totally digging Ghorbash as a tank, but like Farkas and Cosnach, he seems to have an issue with not following right away. Mjoll was always pretty good about that.

That's an orc companion?  The male orcs are actually sexy this time!  In Oblivion the only one who got close was the half-orc in the arena.

Oh, and Sanguine Rose is the "get out of deep doo" card.  I never leave home without it.

Yep, he's an Orc, and I LOVE him. His full name is Ghorbash the Iron Hand, and you can pick him up in Dushnikh Yal.

He's pretty tough, and not once have I seen him go down to his knees. Not yet, anyway. Every once in a while, he snorts, or makes this weird, random growly sound. It scares the crap out of me every time he does it, because I think a Saber Tooth Cat is stealth attacking us or something.

Here's a photo of him from one of the wikis, for your enjoyment.

Image IPB

I still need to get Sanguine Rose; it sounds pretty awesome. I did get Volendrung last night, and am letting Ghorbash carry it around. I don't know why, but I like to outfit my follower better than myself, so I don't have to worry about them. It's like they're actually real, and I am taking responsibility for their safety. What have they done to me? I blame it all on Lydia.

The damage on a followers weapon - do ro doesn't show the effects of all their bonuses - if you view it on the equipment screen?

Funny thing happened just a few minutes ago while I was doing the quest Discerning the Transmundane.  Im riding along on Shadowmere and suddenly, I have arrows flying over my head and I spin the camera around, identifying 3 bandits at about 60-70 meters.  Then, out of nowhere, comes a mammoth and 2 giants.

Thankfully, they began attacking the bandits and not me.  Which, is where the hilarity ensued.  As Im taking down the mammoth and Shadowmere was tanking the first Giant,  the second giant deal a deathblow to one of the bandits, literally sending him into orbit.  Moments laters, as Shadowmere and I are finishing off the other giant, a limp, lifeless bandit falls out of the sky and lands right beside me.
I actuallly had to pause the game because I was laughing so damn hard lol.  For those of you that this has never happened to, here's a link and a warning, steer clear of giants lol.

Has anyone figured any good use for the Slow Time- shout? It seems kind of useless, 'cause you can just get through traps and such with whirlwind sprint.

I usually use Slow Time to heal my follower, because I'm super duper anal retentive that way. Otherwise, it sits in my arsenal, gathering dust.

I used Become Ethereal last night to get through some swinging blades. I wouldn't normally do it that way, but there was no switch to turn them off, and I couldn't seem to get the timing right with Whirlwind Sprint. The moral of the story is, BE worked great in that scenario.

Told you BE was cool :) lol.  As far as Slow Time is concerned, the only use I ever had for it was a substitute for Steady Aim.  Now that I have that, it pretty much just collects dust in my shouts menu lol.

I use it when I have a good shot at a dragon to fire a few arrows to whittle them down. I love it. Keeps them stationary and then I take them out when they land. Talk about fun. XD

It's avaliable at the College of Winterhold, from Phinis Gestor. You need to have at least 316 magicka to summon one Daedra Lord.

I've had 1.5 Louis Letrushes outside of Whiterun for over 100 hours in my game. Every time I walk by, there's a full version, plus a half version, sticking out of the ground. At one point, I saw Letrush get killed by a thug out in the wilderness, and was surprised to find the 1.5 of him still loitering when I got back to Whiterun.

So after the latest patch, I've noticed that there are more of him, the more times I walk by. Now there are 3.5 of him in my game. I found this in a Google image search; guess I'm not the only one.
