Do any of you get a random event where you're attacked by Hired Thugs? My Bosmer is getting them at level 5 and dammitall, I can't beat them. I keep dying over and over and over, and they killed Uthgerd the Unbroken. :? My PC is just too squishy to beat them. I take it that this is bad karma for her stealing.

I've not had any Hired Thugs in a while, but yes. They mostly seem to get hired by occasional, unnamed people I pickpocket from. Except for that one time I punched a child and she sent them after me, but nevermind that.

Piece of advice? They can't swim. I killed the first bunch in Riverwood just by crossing the stream and filling them with arrows whilst they ran all the way around to catch up, then repeating the process.

Just got three new lines out of Mjoll in Fellglow Keep (paraphrased):

"Ugh...dark sorcery makes my skin crawl."

"Look out for glyphs on the ground or this will be a short expedition."

"Let's kill these casters quick before they conjure something terrible."

After being with her a 100 hours or more, I just was a bit shocked, having heard about her mother, father and Nord Blood several hundred times.

If you steal from anyone's house, the owner will send thugs after you. I had a few ambush me at an Orc stronghold yesterday because I stole from Faendal (not because he had valuables, but just to spite him - I hate that guy).

Anyway, I don't know what kind of character you're playing, but Block would aid you greatly in the battle if it's a skill you're training (or planning to in the future). I managed to whip their asses one at a time thanks to several well-timed blocks.

I thought you had to go into Blackreach to find an Elder Scroll? That's what I read on the TES Wiki anyway.

Aye, I found Elder scroll too there. But i havo no idea wthat is this elder scroll for.

http://www.uesp.net/...l:Elder_Scrolls

No its not a spoiler. Just scroll down to "The Elder Scrolls Themselves" to read a bit of what they are.

Just a tidbit
The number of the Scrolls is unknown not because of their immense quantity, but because the number itself is unknowable, as the Scrolls "do not exist in countable form".

Well just finished the main quest. So spoilers ahead and yaddy yadda.

I have to say though, that was a nice touch putting dead characters from some of the bigger quests in sovenguard like that. Kinda hammered home the horror of what was happening, which for the most part I didn't realize for most of the game. Meeting ulfric in death and hearing him reflect upon his mistakes really made me pity the guy, and wish I could have shown him reason in life.

If you don't mind... I'm curious to know what he says - I won't be meeting him there because he's gonna be High King of Skyrim soon. LOL.

When he dies he gains all the knowledge of what is going on in skyrim and regrets sowing the conflict that allowed the dragon to be revived. As he is saying this both imperial AND stormcloak soldiers that are trapped just outside of sovenguard (alduin is eating their very souls before they can reach it).

To boil down his speech, he is basically calling himself and idiot for fighting a meaningless war he could have held off. Which I agree with, no use being high king when there will be no skyrim.

His second in command (I can't really remember his name, the angry guy who was always with ulfric) isn't quite so reptentent, he focuses more on the fact the dragonborn kills him. An angry one he is.

Thus far, I am not enamored over my first few homes, though I am grateful for there being homes;

* Whiterun - a nice cottage I call The Firepit. Do not plan on enetering or leaving in great haste, or you may need a new pair of boots. There is no Enchanters table, the Alchemy lab is in s small backroom, and the ladder stairway has a trick step on the top rung. Plus a houseguest I never wamted, though she seems amiable enough.

* Sanctuary near Dawnstar - took a few times around the new digs to finally find the bedrooms. And if one does not actually want a Torture Chamber, the quest log does not appear to complete. And the house guest here is less than endearing, though she pays well.

* Markath - not a bad looking home, but hate the No Escape bedrooms (how I managed to trap some vics in their own places). And this abode seems to have an animated statue that moved off a stand towards the table over time; kinda scary if you have visted any other houses in the city that includes moving furnishings (hint; hint). And do not leave in in a rush, cause that last step is a lulu.

Amyone have a top recommendation for a new place?

LOL!  If you cast a spell in a town, a kid might ask you to cast an invisibility spell on them.

About houses:  I've bought all of them and my favorites are Hjerim in Windhelm and Vlindrel Hall in Markarth.  I'll admit the latter creeps me out a little with the plethora of skulls around, but I'm the Dovahkiin- I laugh at daedra and necromancers.  And the steep slopes are just a selling point!  Why go down the long stairs when you can take a long, beautiful leap down to the front gate?  A few cracked toes and shin splints are easily solved with a healing spell.

That's Ulfric's pespective and it's very sad he dies with guilt like that, but the prophecy suggests that it was the banning of Talos that precipitated the dragons coming.  The Thalmor didn't know they were doing that- they were only waiting for Aur-Iniel- but unwittingly they did.

I'm also not surprised that Ulfric is a mournful ghost.  He seems to carry guilt for leaving the Greybeards when you talk to him about that.  People who say he's just a racist pig don't understand the character.

I stole from Faendal, too, so I bet that was it.  And for a while he was my follower!  That ungrateful bastard.  lol

My character is an archer thief.  That's why I had the meat shield, but she lasted for about 5 seconds.  Grr.  edit:  The river trick might work!

I had one group come after me, but offhand I can't remember why. One of the bandits had the letter from a person I knew, though, telling them to come after me.

Wow. So I just got that game and I was planning on playing an Argonian...next thing I know I'm playing a female Orc. I really underestimated them, because they look great in the game. Besides the fact that the female Orc's have the best hairstyles, their race power berserker rage is also very handy!

Solitude. Mainly because I like Jordis (housecarl) though it's the most expensive house in the game I think (25k). But it's the biggest house (it's a manor) I think you can buy.

I've currently got Markrath, Solitude and Whiterun, though most of them (except Markrath) are still in pretty bad condition (lack of furnishings).

Markrath is awesome. It's like a different place, almost removed from the rest of Skyrim, really. It's where my character feels tempted by the more disturbing aspects of her personality for which she feels both self disgust and liberating freedom which she would never give up. First discovered at Namira's feast, which she originally attended out of fear and curiosity before realizing it was both enjoyable and for the greater good. Hence the shame.

Basically, I liked the bonuses of Namira's Ring and tried to justify it within the confines of my character concept. Well, that at least explains why I still use it. I really did do the quest because I was afraid of pissing off the whole town/getting owned and because I wanted to see where it was going.

I don't know about Riften, I probably won't try out the Thieves Guild questline in my current playthrough, so someone else can elaborate on that. I think though that Riften has those living mannequins too (more than one).

Yeah Vorstag came out with some new lines, too.  Like "I'll be glad when I can breathe again" in a mine.  Dude is such a whiner.

Maybe it is level-based?  They get some new chatter at higher levels?  If so that's pretty cool.  edit- or maybe it's after a certain number of hours as follower?

I'm not sure why some people dislike Ulfric so much - whenever I speak to him, he's usually a calm, reasonable fellow (he does have a bit of a temper, but that's hardly a reason to hate him).

I don't really agree with his stance on other races, but it's not like he sends a secret police force throughout the land to capture, imprison, torture, and kill anyone who disagrees with him or isn't a member of his race.

The Empire's new Aldmeri buddies, on the other hand...

Characters strike people a certain way, it's not always logical.  He's got a lot of grey to him.  Some people also take the Thalmor dossier on him and The Bear of Markarth at face value.

You want another reason to hate the Altmer?  I read in Bethsoft forum- or maybe it was the lore wiki- that they kill many of their newborns for racial imperfection.

I came across the Talos shrine with the carnage scene yesterday.  The body of a Thalmor agent is there with a note in his pocket telling him he's not getting more agents until he gets proof that his informant is correct about Talos worshippers in that area.  It's near Helgen- I wonder if Ralof is right that the Thalmor being in that area (possibly looking for their missing agent) is why the imperials were able to nab the Stormcloaks.

On a different note:  If you haven't seen this elsewhere, by all means take a listen!

I tried to complete that quest, but I just couldn't do it - I had to kill Eola and the other cannibals. I did force myself to go through with the "feast" once, but was utterly revolted by it and reloaded the previous save.

Ironically, I went werewolf to kill the cannibals - and ended up eating them in my beastly form. Does that make me better than them? Probably not - but it sure was epic and gratifying to do. LOL.

Any Console Command to remove the Bonus Health Bug?

My char's Health is showing extra 14 points, in green, without any Active Effects that Fortify Health. I know other players experienced the same with different figures and it's probably related to Fortify Health potions somehow. (I know mine bug was triggered by drinking that skooma-based potions that I got from some crazy hostile merchant at low level and had to use during a tough fight, at that low level. (I only play Master diff and some ranked type of enemies are quite tough).

Anyway, is there a console command that removes all buffs? I don't want to simply reduce my base health. I want to fix it.
