No you don't need to advance the plot.

Look on your map.  See those  dragon-head icons?    Revisit those places.  A dragon will spawn there every  day.


Yeah, I don't get it. I killed over 30 dragons during my first playthrough, I've upgraded almost all shouts to level 3, all to level 2 at least and always had some 7-8 souls in reserve. There are plenty Dragons. I didn't patched my game nor I will. But if you did, perhaps what's happening to you is that they are all flying backwards and will never land! hehehe

Nice, I was wondering if you could do that, but hadn't gotten around to it. (got really distracted when I contracted vampirism without knowing how to cleanse it).

Ulfric challenged Torygg to a duel in which the king was supposed to defend his throne... and he lost, plain and simple. The Empire can prattle on about it being a murder and keep decapitating innocent people over it if they wish, but it is what it is.

Indeed. I'm doing some errands in Riften right now, in fact, and I just spoke to Sibbi - geez, that guy is a huge POS. I hope he rots in that jail cell - he deserves it.

His mom Maven isn't much better - she's basically a mafia don who has all of Riften in her pocket, including that coward of a Jarl. Hell, she even becomes Jarl of Riften if you side with the Empire.

But, I have a "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" policy, so I somewhat begrudgingly do her favors whenever she requests them of me. I have no choice since there's no real way to work against her or her criminal empire in the game.

I do fancy Ingun, though - she's eccentric, but I rather like that.

I just ate the DB as a werewolf.
I kind of feel bad for them.

I mean it took me under a minute to kill all of them really standards are a slipping.

Also I just did Blood on the ice....wow Ulfric your war is more important than your own citizens being murdered? classy.

Well in Solitude they executed a guy who helped Ulfric kill the Highking. Alduin helped Ulfric and you escape from Helgen due to wanting to continue the civil war.

All that guy did was open the gate and let Ulfric out after the duel.


He helped by helping him get in and out without getting caught.

The Imperial Nords tell you that they would never have let Ulfric in if they knew he was going to challenge Torygg to a duel.  That implies that he walked in the front door like anyone else.

I'm sure he didn't just walk out also. Someone had to let him out.

You can only get in to the courtyard and barracks, but it's satisfying.

Is she the alchemist?  She tests her poisons out on live people and says she likes to watch the effects.  :blink:  Presumably prisoners or servants, I would guess.

Yeah 'cause Ulfric is in charge of the only Jarldom that can't investigate it's own citizen's murders. Unlike Solitude (The Man Who Cried Wolf).

Yeah the last dragon I've killed was at one of those places.
Guess what no soul.
As far as I'm aware respawns do not give souls so that does nothing.

And he left Ulfric out of the gate because it was a fair duel and they tried to double cross Ulfric because he won!

OMG... 32 hours with new char already. Level 25 and I only travelled between Riverwood, Falkreath and Riften via Helgen pass. And it will still take me some time to go to Whiterun and start collecting Dragon Souls again! No fast travel and I'm really taking it slow this time. This game will ruin what's left of my life!

@Rockworm All Dragons are supposed to release their souls upon death, even the respawns. It's a glitch that prevents it. Out of over 30 Dragons killed in my first run, only twice it happened. Good Hunting!

I'm trying to do a different character, I've already used 3 races (Xana Wood Elf, Minx Dark Elf, and Jane Nord) Grrr...
Why does it gotta be confusing? -.-

Whats a good race?
And also, don't say Argonian, I love em too death, but I can't handle them. There to awesome for me.

Altmer is a great race because of the extra 50 Magicka you get. That's 5 levels right there!

I was in the same position as you, trying to find that perfect race to keep. I have been thoroughly surprised by my love for the Orc (My Orc, Magoza). They fit the lore perfectly (not to mention their culture is so amazing), and they look bad ass. Especially the females. I never played them because I was off put by their looks, but they are amazing in Skyrim if you make 'em right. Plus, their race power is crazy great.

I also love the Altmer. They are prehaps my favorite race. Redguards are beast, too.

I have played the game(100+ hours logged) but it's downloading the new patch which is only 50 or so mb but Steam has really terrible bitrate going on 3-15kbps so it's taking it's time. Can't play without it.

Actually I'm in Australia so I dunnot which region servers we've got. It was like this when I first installed it too.
