That's speculation.

You want to know what else is speculation? Saying that the Dark Brotherhood will be a joinable faction, just sayin.

absolutely.  as I mentioned above, anything is possible but personally I would be extremely shocked if they were not joinable.

Hopefully we'll know a lot more later this week when Todd answers the questions from the Skyrim Fan Interview.

They are having a Skyrim Fan interview? Todd Howard is awesome. It was cool seeing him up on stage and giving us a sneak peak...he genuinely cares for the fans. It would be cool to hear more about DB...although like I said I never did the one in Oblivion yet. Will soon though.

If I was him, though, I wouldn't confirm they are a joinable faction until the end of October. Then I would say yes, there is an extensive questline, and depending on what you do in it, itll effect the ending (crosses fingers).

As for my Gandalf idea, just my latest idea. Not 100% yet on it. If I do, though, Skyrim's enemies and dragons won't take me lightly. If they do, i will have to remind them..."do not take me for some Conjurer of Cheap Tricks". Lol

I played as a girl in Oblivion...a female Wood Elf Battle Mage named Zelda...lol...but this time I'm gonna be male for certain.

*Wonders why we haven't gotten a good look at the elves or argonians* Towards the end of me playing Oblivion argonians became my favorite race, passive resist disease and water breathing is glorious. The shadowy concept art has me excited, but unsure. I've mentioned it here once before but I really want the ability to make an all white Snow Khajiit, without looking bad. And I'd be excited if the variation between NPC elf races would have a lLOT more variation than in obliv.

It shows Shrouded Armour at least twice in the gameplay trailer, so unless you just happen to find a shrouded armour suit lying around in the game, I'd say you can join them.

Note some of the concept art. I believe one of them looked like an Argonian.

This guy, right?

Image IPB

I don't think that's an argonian, because I don't see a tail. I read somewhere that each race will have it's own set of armour, so this is probably the Argonian armour.

Here is the Argonian concept art

Image IPB

Yeah, I've seen it. I was just saying that the first pic didn't match the argonian concept art. The first one doesn't have a tail, and it has shorter arms, but everything else looks argonian, which was why I said that it is probably the argonian armour.

On a side note, it looks like that argonian has four weapons on it's body? A dagger on it's left boot, a longsword on it's back, a shortsword on his side, and a staff in his hand. And it looks like it has three horns running up it's jaw, like the horns hairstyle in Oblivion.

Aren't Argonians more suceptable to fire? Not good in a game with dragons. Unless they evolved over the last 200 years.

Hope they release all the races soon.

Think there will be any hidden items, like Fin Gleam in Oblivion? Did someone actually find that or did Bethesda tell the fans where it was?

Argonians are water types. They have a 2x resistance against fire. Watch out for those Imps and their electric attacks though.

No. They don't have any resistance to fire. Dark Elves have that. Nords however are more susceptible to fire. Argonians have only immunity to disease and poison as well as water-breathing.

We've seen an elf. Arvel the Swift is a dark elf. Bethesda's probably going back to the lithe athletic dunmer from Morrowind than the chubby weirdos in Oblivion.

You my friend are rediculous, as I said it is not my job to prove to you that the Dark Brotherhood wont be a joinable faction in Skyrim it is whoever is making the claim's job to prove that the Dark Brotherhood will be a joinable faction in Skyrim. It is like me saying that there will be a band of super awesome half dragon and half mudcrab supersoldiers called the Crabdom that you can join in Skyrim and asking you to prove me wrong, the burden of proof is on those who make these wild claims so unless those who are so sure that the Dark Brotherhood will be joinable in Skyrim show us some proof I have no reason to believe their claims which at the moment seem based on wishful thinking alone.

Besides it has already been confirmed that there are only 3 guilds in Skyrim so unless the Dark Brotherhood is one of them (which it isnt as the 3 guilds are the Companions, the College of Whispers and the Theives Guild) or somehow tie in with one of these guilds you will not be able to join the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim.

Oh yeah and the only way you can get a suit of shrouded armour is by joining the Dark Brotherhood because you certainly couldnt loot a set of an assassins dead body, oh no that would be impossible wouldnt it?"

Sorry kid you are going to have to try a little harder than that, unfortunately wishful thinking isnt enough to prove anything really.

Proof of what? Oh the Dark Brotherhood are back? What a big ****ing surprise, we have only know about this since ****ing january but please show me the part where they are confirmed to be a joinable ****ing guild?

That Dark Brotherhood was in Tribunal as well, it diddnt mean they were joinable however.

Oh, the emphasis is on their joinability. Shrug. I haven't been keeping up with the news. It would be pretty stupid to include them in the game, but not let them be a joinable faction, though.

Todd has not confirmed one way or the other whether DB will be joinable. You are assuming they will not be, others are assuming they will be. Neither is confirmed yet. Personally I will be extremely surprised if they are not joinable.

Where is it that this was confirmed?

During E3, the only mention I saw where Todd commented on these, he said these are the three "main factions." If they were going to be the only factions in the game, why would they be the "main" factions? In addition to these, and Dark Brotherhood, Todd has previously mentioned a racist Nord faction (which might turn out to be The Companions, given the history of the 500 Companions of Ysgramor, or an entirely different faction).

And considering the game is set against the backdrop of a civil war, I would be pretty surprised if the PC doesn't need to choose sides at some point, to join either a Rebel faction or Loyalist faction.

In any case, Todd's comments in the OXM interview suggest there will be a richer, deeper faction system compared with Oblivion. Looking forward to finding out more when answers to the fan interview questions are posted.

It was confirmed in a recent interview, Todd was asked what was meant by "a richer, deeper faction system when compared with Oblivion" he reply was "By only having 3 factions for the player to join it allowed us at Bethesda to develop a richer and deeper experience for the player within those factions" so it would seem the faction system in Skyrim will be based on quality and not quantity.

That being said the Dark Brotherhood was never mentioned however unless it is one of the 3 factions (which if you listen to an earlier interview it is not) you wont be able to join them.

Interesting - I missed that interview, do you recall which one it was? Can you post a link? I'd like to read it to learn more.

I'm not making a claim. I'm asking you a question, which requires an answer. Why? Because I don't know if the Dark Brotherhood will have an extensive questline and I'd like to assess the source myself. And you failed, friend. Post the interview or just shut up. Better yet, don't reply. Christ...
