(cool story)... (snip)

So now I'm about sneak into the Fort through the mine back entrance. So much for clearing Avanchnzel. Maybe tomorrow (ingame) after some loot dumping and rest...

But it's things like this which make Skyrim so enjoyable for me. How well crafted the world is and how well the mechanics tie into it.

The potential for literally hundreds of small adventures that are given much of it's narrative depth and enjoyment through the player's own involvement via exploration or other means.

Because it's the player who provides the context for the small, often randomized adventures. Something that very few scripted narratives are able to capture well.

That's exactly what happens to me all the time! I set out to do one thing and then... Maybe tomorrow (ingame) after some loot dumping and rest...  IF something new doesn't divert me from the way! =)

I figure it'd help if quests didn't constantly send you to the other end of the world and back, through a gauntlet of interesting stuff to investigate. It took an almost inhumane level of willpower and determination to finish the main Companions quests and not take a detour every fifteen seconds whilst running to the tomb from Whiterun.

Don't even get me started on things like the Barbas quest. You want me to go where?

Install a mod that removes map markers showing up on your compass. Makes it easier to stay focused.

Especially since clearing certain dungeons may break future quests.

Speaking of factions... the Thieves Guild not only has the best armor, they've got the hottest guys.  Oh mama!

I totally agree. I love Brynjolf's voice, and all of the other guys in that cistern are pretty nice to look at, and talk to. My favorite is the one I rescued from the Thalmor Embassy, but he never has anything new to say to me (Etienne Ramis). Waa.

Watching the Skyrim trailer before the game was released:
"FUS RO DAH"
"Omg, squee, other excited noises."

Watching the Skyrim trailer now, after playing the game some:
"FUS RO DAH"
"Why is he wearing both light and heavy armour? Nab."

Why do games make me so jaded :(

I really like Sapphire from the Thieves Guild, and Vex as well. Some of the nicer-looking females in the game.

But I guess the Guild has a "look, don't touch" policy, so I am denied the honor of marrying one of them. >:(

I also rather fancy Astrid, but that obviously wouldn't have worked anyway. Sad.

Have I expressed lately how much I love Ghorbash as a follower? OK, there you go. My quota has been met for today.

Ooh! I just started smithing Daedric gear last night, and thought I'd hate it. I actually love it! Ghorbash looks so cute, running around with his 'lil horns.

Ah, Astrid. She really didn't expect to be disintegrated by lightning in that abandoned shack when she thought she could tell my character what to do. Luckily I reloaded afterwards.

Btw, does anyone know if the Thieves Guild folks are all essential? I'm thinking of wiping them out in this playthrough, so I want to know whether it's actually possible.

Ahah, so true. I think I got that quest at maybe level 12. I finished it at level 65, almost 3 weeks IRL later.

Well, there was also Lydia, Hroki, Eola (everything's great except for her eating habits), Alfhild Battle-Born, Ingun Black-Briar, Susanna the Wicked (I made sure Calixto paid dearly for that one), Lynly Star-Song - this game is such a damn tease, it ain't funny. :pinched:

Indeed, for some reason the thieves guild surpasses the manly men in being attractive. Especially brynjolf. Must be the whole roguish thing. However it kinda falls short in attractive women (the college has the cute breyna, and the companions have that amazonian wonder)

Speaking of attractiveness. I have to say, why do dark elves always have to have those deep bags under their eyes? Is their a lore reason I am missing somewhere? Breyna has a cute voice and face but those bags make her look older than she sounds.

@Green

Lydia not being marriageable is a bug that should be fixed in a patch sometime. If you are playing skyrim on the pc its an easy fix.

In fact if you are playing on skyrim you can make almost anyone marriageable. Although of course buggy on certain characters who have voices different from those you can marry.

The guys are so friendly and the women down there are complete biotches.  Go topside and get some sun, chiquitas- it'll improve your disposition.

About Dunmer:  I had the same problem making one.  They all looked horrid.  It's kind of sad.

I also had problems making a breton. The males look like greeks (which is great, loved it) but the females have these forhead wrinkles that drive me nuts.

Nice armor! Where did you get that? Or what's it's name?

I was curious, who did people side with in "In My Time Of Need"?

I thought it was an interesting quest. Saadia and Kematu both claim to be the "good guy," point the finger at the other as a Thalmor ally in Hammerfell, and there doesn't seem to be any evidence that would indicate that either one is lying about their claim. It's entirely up to the Dragonborn to decide who the "bad guy" is, and who to trust. It seems to be entirely an issue of gut instinct, and I was curious who people felt inclined to side with.

Kematu. I think the guy is a hell lot more honest then Saadia, and he does keep his word of not killing her.

Female Bretons are my absolute favorite.

Oh don't get me wrong. I really love female bretons and I found the default breton REALLY cute. Its just those forhead wrinkles drive me nuts.

Well I'm loving this game, playing at 1680x1050 and the graphics are pretty damn good. But I have the same two complaints I've had of all Bethesda games: voice acting and combat animations. Both are better than Oblivion, but still they fall a bit flat.

Actually, in most lighting, they're not even noticeable.

Really?  The patch is out today?

This is the one that's supposed to fix the  resistances that the last patch broke.
