And i thought they were gonna use this brand new 'creation engine' LOL

Beth and the Toddler are such friggin liars, it sickens me.

AFAIK they never said it was 'brand new', from the interviews I've seen its always been clear its a heavily modified gamebryo engine even if they haven't been 100% explicit about it.

Why didn't they say it was a tweeked gamebryo then ?   Instead of coming up with this new 'creation' nonsense.   People that don't really look into it are fooled and think it's a new engine, that's why.

Read this :

Of course somehow i don't buy it. There is too much similarities in both games (skyrim - oblivion) for it to be a completely new engine.

Pah, he doesn't have a thing on Alduin. That guy's the biggest party animal there is. Even Sanguine is jelly. Image IPB

OK I haven't seen that before, from other interviews its clear they took gamebryo and heavily modified it internally. I guess it could be argued that they modified it to such an extent that they can call it a new engine.

Thanks for the help everyone...noob question...how do I sprint? I know how to use the whirlwind shout and all it has done is fail as I've made it as far as the second gate...I have whats her face Lydia with me...but still that shouldn't matter...I mean I am on autorun....but how do I sprint (PC version)

As for master I'm not too much about difficulty, just wondering if it would become a royal pain for combat...adept is lol easy, just like when I played Fallout 3/Obliv 4 and literally could kill everyone w/o trying in a couple of shots...just wondering whether master will be too painful or should I just do expert.

hehe nope I am not trolling. But ALT is for normal sprinting = running a little faster than normal.
To get through those gates you asked - you still need to use shout. You can't get through with just a regular sprint.

The only way for which I was able to get through them is to go by myself. Try and see if  asking Lydia to wait here will work. And then use the Whirlwind  shout to get across. When I did it I had no companions at the time.

Once you get through it (using whirlwind) the gate remains open so your companions can get through afterward.

It was the same with me. For some reason it wouldn't let me through with a companion, so I sent him home, and then it worked.

I'm not sure about that because when I did it like I said it was before I had come across any companions. After all most of the game I've run through solo cept where a companion had to come along. Got tired of having to worry about them dying.

Thats weird, I definitely got through and the gate stayed open for Lydia to follow.

For those particular gates I had to use the Whirlwind shout twice to get through all three gates.  Fortunately it has a short cooldown, though I was also wearing a Talos amulet which probably helped.  It took numerous tries before I got through.

I had Vorstag wait because I figured out pretty quickly that we weren't both going to make it through.  Then I went back and got him once the gate stayed open.

That is what a friend of mine said that he had to do is basicly what you had done. As for me I was running solo and had yet to pick up any companions so I didn't have a problem with it.

Hmm, I guess I can just add it to the list of bugs that have happened to me at some point. Image IPB

Well, I finally saw a moonwalking dragon today. It was the only one I've ever seen, and I haven't seen another one since then, so it's no sweat off my back.

It was, however, extremely hilarious. Makes me wonder what the lyrics to Billie Jean would sound like in Dragon tongue.

Well now will have to admit that I've not seen the moon walking dragon as of yet. I did see the headless horsemman.

Is there a quest behind the headless horseman? I saw him too, and followed him, but he just seemed to stop by the side of the road for a while and not do anything, so I left him to it.
