I don't have any perk in light armor and now I am curious what is the highest possible light armor rating. Anyone ?
You can make ANY armour reach the cap, if you boost smithing high enough and use the typical exploits.
Ehhh ... so there is no difference between heavy and light armor in this game at all.
I hope it will be fixed somehow.
There's a HUGE difference, and there's nothing to fix. Do you know what kind of hoops you have to jump through to make a set of
leather armor reach the armor cap?
1) First you need to bring your Alchemy skill up to 100 and take the initial Alchemy constellation perk up to 5/5 (or else find another way to create a smithing potion that ups your smithing by at least 35%, because you won't find any smithing potions that powerful in shops)
2) Then you need to bring your smithing skills to 100
3) then you need to bring your enchanting skill to 100, as well as take the initial enchanter perk to 5/5 so that you enchant a Ring and necklace that boost your smithing skill by at least 35% each
4) And, obviously, your light armor skill needs to be at 100 and you need to have taken the initial light armor perk to 5/5 so that your light armor doubles its value.
At this point, you're at the VERY LEAST 26th level, and probably a whole lot higher unless you really *really* know what you're doing. But if you're willing to do ALL that, then congratualtions, you're at the the armor cap with your craptastic Leather Armor. Of course, while you were busy spending all those level up perks on Smithing, Alchemy, Enchanting and Light armor, you've probably been neglecting your offense. But no matter, you
might still have time to catch up, assuming you're not already level 60+ LOL
