It's just a fight of attrition. It takes less than a minute.

So, after a righteous campaign into the Ratway, the Thieves Guild has been eradicated. The moral and martial superiority of the Companions has been proven.

It wasn't without it's challenges, their leader was resilient to the end. As Aela handled the riff-raff, she left Mirelle to deal with him one on one. The Harbinger inevitably struck the decisive blow and won the duel. Thus, the Thieves Guild was ended. Not with a bang, but a whimper.

-- Seriously Mercer Frey was tougher than everyone else combined. Very Rogue-ish. Dude was lightning quick, and was Dual Wielding Health Absorbing Swords. It was a lot of fun, actually. I may resurrect him later on just to try it again. --

Once they had recuperated from the battle, Aela and Mirelle dragged the corpses of the "infamous" Thieves Guild members and dumped them into a pile.

Image IPB

She decided to send off the Guild in the same manner that they had lived:

Bereft of dignity and honor. Condemned to burn and rot in the sewers, suffering a slow but inevitable demise.

Image IPB

And so ends this particular LARPing adventure.

^_^

edit: I actually used console commands to get into the Cistern but dammit, it just wouldn't feel right until I killed all of the Thieves Guild... that reminds me, I still need to off Brynjolf.

Hmm Mr Crusty I have one thing to say to you

NERD! Lulz >>

I actully joined all the factions...then again I don't LARP and I aim to take over the games world...so I'm sure that plays a factor.  (well minus the Civil War, going Imp for that though)

The 'real' fight with Mercer Frey was one of the more cinematic fights in the game for me. (well so far) Something out of an Indiana Jones movie. Fighting on top of a giant statue to gain an ancient treasure, tumbling to the water below as the room began filling.

Of course I'm a pirate, so I'm at the advantage in any fight involving water and treasure.

I now may have to have my Thieves Guild take out the Companions like the whimpering dogs they literally are. Image IPB

I liked that fight and was thinking the same thing as I played it- very Indiana Jones-esque.

But I thought I read that you can't normally kill all the Thieves Guild members, that they were unkillable NPCs?

Falmer helmet is obviously bugged, and will be patched soon probably so i am not using it. I want my character and items to be legit.

And about smithing items - yep that was my bad.
when i wrote 4x items with "fortify enchanting +29%"  i meant 4x items with "fortify smithing +29%" because there are no "fortify enchanting" items. Image IPB

Well, Im hope they don't mess with Falker's Helmet. I use it only for my Alchemic potions amd I would go public wearing that uglyn thing! Gladly I have a lab in my basement! hehe - It's just a small boost for I don't think I'll raising alchemy to get 5/5 perks. Perhaps 4/5. It is 3/5 atm and still, it is strong enough.

My fortify smithing pots are well stronger than the 50% Elixir we can purchase in shops. =) (But my enchanting potions are still lower than the Enchanters Elixirs so I use those which means I only enchant my items very rarely. and I think I've done my final Ebony set for this run, with really nice boosts. =)

On a second note, is anyone else having their GPU heating to the roof with Skyrim? Every once in a while my RealTemp alarm triggers and shuts down my system because my GPU reached 100 Celsus. It's not always. I had that like 5-6 times in 300 hours and it depends on the effects of the area, I guess. Still with an extra cooler it has got better.

I think this game has shown me how much books affect my mind: I never trusted Mercer Frey simply because of his last name

Okay finished the main quest....epic is an insult to the sheer power of that ending.

I agree. I have no idea WTF people are complaining about who say it's too short or anti-climactic.  I thought it was pretty climactic.  I never found Torygg in Sovngarde, though.

Veleda's game is pretty much done.  First playthrough, I estimate around 100 hours.

This is her heavy Nightingale set smithed using a crafting add-on mod.  I enchanted it for a battle mage and call it the Black Valkyrie Armor.  :)  I always thought mage and rogue armors could be easily interchanged.  Yay for mods.

Image IPB

Also loving the sneaky Nord playthrough I'm doing now.  It's fun to be able to do all the stealing and ne'er do well quests that I passed by on the last run.

I'm with you... That's pretty much my mind. Sometimes, I feel that some people are complaining for nothing. Or then, they need to explain what the hell was wrong with the main quest, because I fail to see.

And your Nord.. is lovely.

Well, just finished Blood on the Ice again. 5 minutes and 2 console commands. 1 to remove the Strange Amulet and 2 to add the Necromancer's Amulet which is the actual reward for the quest. I just added to make it right. It's as lame amulet and I wish I could melt it!

But still, it is good to be on PC. Better visuals, Mods and any bugs can be fixed real simple and fast! =)

I shouted him off the statue's head and he died instantly. It was kinda anti-climactic.

Wish I could've killed that jerk earlier, though. I disliked having to be railroaded into such an obvious betrayal.

Amen. I may have to try breaking into Jorrvaskr and robbing them blind some time. I wonder if the 'steal equipped items' perk works on them.

That is 3% more than by not wielding it. And after improving it on a wheel, the dagger makes for a fairly keen weapon with 15 or 30 times dmg depending on which gloves one decides to wear. Currently, I am dual-wielding it with an Epic Blade of Woe; seems like an apt pairing.

I will soon install Skyrim. Please say something that would cure my depression over the College questline being so short.

Is it at least nice to be a mage?

Oh, being a mage? It's awesome possum. But you can't really stick with just destruction-heavy gameplay this time around. Conjuration is great.

Also, I like your avatar...

Thanks.

Is being a cloth-wearing magic-centered character redundant next to being able to just get every other skill and becoming everything?

I tried a jack-of-trades, but I endend up being good at nothing (leveling up too fast, not enough perks), until I used the console to mod my skill and make it more even. JOT was veeeery fun though.

EDIT: I also ended up using one combat style over the other a lot more, so it was kind of fail.

I wish there was more recognition of one's achievements in the world. In Oblivion, not even the battlemages at the front gate recognised me as the Archmage.

I used to dual wield like you, then I took an arrow to the knee, but then I learned the joys of Illusion.

I wish you didn't become the leader of every faction. :P I'm the listener, Master of the thieves guild, Arch-mage, Companion, so on so forth

I am getting higher temperature while playing Skyrim than in other games but never so high as you.

For Skyrim my max temperature was ~70°C (CPU) and ~80°C (GPU)
I have standard fans on both CPU & GPU but i keep my computer case always open it helps a lot.

Could you do me a favor and explain how you manged to get your Daedric bow up to over 500 in damage please? I've tried everyting for which I can think of.
I have the following
100 in enchanting Alchemey and smithing I've got 5/5 in all of them for the first one. I've got all the echantments in all of them except for the following
Enchanting-Don't have Soul siphon;; soul squeezer
Smithing-Don't have Elven; Advance, Glass, Dragon
Alchemey-Don't have Green thumb, Poisner, con. Poison
I have created Fortify enchanting potion 30%
 potion of Fortify smithing 120%
have the following made wich give me 25% Alchemey and weapon and armor improvement
ring; amulet guntlets
smithing apron 25% imp. weapons & armor
Helmet 25% Alchemey.
Now these are as high as I could get them so far don't know if there is something Im missing or not.
Any help for which you could give me would be appreciated.

You are very close.

but you need the max possible enchantments/potions you can make :

4x items with "fortify enchanting smithing +29%"
4x items with "fortify alchemy +29%"
Potions of "fortify smithing + 130%"
Potions of "fortify enchanting +32%"

4x items with "fortify archery +47%"

The tricks is -
*    Enchant 4x items with "fortify alchemy"
*    You can use those items to make a better "fortify enchanting" potion.
*    Then you can use this potion to enchant another 4 items with "fortify alchemy" (stronger this time thanks to that potion)
*    Then you can use those new and better enchanted items to make a better "fortify enchanting" potion .....
...
Can you see the pattern now ? Image IPB
Rinse and repeat  but those values i've listed above are max values you can get in the end.

EDIT: Fixed

Well now I'd like to thank you for your help. As I've now got a pair of long swords which do 384pts of damage a pair of daggers that do 140 pts of damage and thats each I've got a bow that does 507 pts of damage and my armor class is 1425. And this is with all Daedric items none of the weapons are enchanted. Have yet to make up my mind if I will enchant them. And with the perks in dual weapons and archery for triple damage and the perk in dagger for 15 times damage your now talking of some serious hurting.<LOL>j

Thanks again for your help I guess I was making more out of it then it really was. Of course I was getting tired to as it was around 4am that I was trying to do it.

Rage that is so true there. What are you running if you don't mind my asking? As for me I'm running a Female wood elf  heavy armor sneak bow and dual weapons. All daedric items had someone here that taught me how to correctly take advantage of the smithing and Now i've got great weapons and armor . Image IPBImage IPB
