Personally, I will be avoiding Skyrim. The TES series have just become too dumbed down for me. Compare Oblivion or Skyrim to Morrowind and Morrowind is bigger and offers more freedom. I'm 70% sure its world is bigger than Oblivion's and Skyrim's - which is confirmed to be the same size as Oblivion's - world put together. It's a shame Morrowind had crap combat and run and fetch quests, otherwise I would have enjoyed it.
Ok. Have fun with the Witcher 2
Your saying that like it's a bad thing...now if you said Starcraft 2 however....

You my friend are rediculous, as I said it is not my job to prove to you that the Dark Brotherhood wont be a joinable faction in Skyrim it is whoever is making the claim's job to prove that the Dark Brotherhood will be a joinable faction in Skyrim. It is like me saying that there will be a band of super awesome half dragon and half mudcrab supersoldiers called the Crabdom that you can join in Skyrim and asking you to prove me wrong, the burden of proof is on those who make these wild claims so unless those who are so sure that the Dark Brotherhood will be joinable in Skyrim show us some proof I have no reason to believe their claims which at the moment seem based on wishful thinking alone.
Todd has not confirmed one way or the other whether DB will be joinable. You are assuming they will not be, others are assuming they will be. Neither is confirmed yet. Personally I will be extremely surprised if they are not joinable.Gandalf-the-Fabulous wrote...
Besides it has already been confirmed that there are only 3 guilds in Skyrim so unless the Dark Brotherhood is one of them (which it isnt as the 3 guilds are the Companions, the College of Whispers and the Theives Guild)
Where is it that this was confirmed?
During E3, the only mention I saw where Todd commented on these, he said these are the three "main factions." If they were going to be the only factions in the game, why would they be the "main" factions? In addition to these, and Dark Brotherhood, Todd has previously mentioned a racist Nord faction (which might turn out to be The Companions, given the history of the 500 Companions of Ysgramor, or an entirely different faction).
And considering the game is set against the backdrop of a civil war, I would be pretty surprised if the PC doesn't need to choose sides at some point, to join either a Rebel faction or Loyalist faction.
In any case, Todd's comments in the OXM interview suggest there will be a richer, deeper faction system compared with Oblivion. Looking forward to finding out more when answers to the fan interview questions are posted.
It was confirmed in a recent interview, Todd was asked what was meant by "a richer, deeper faction system when compared with Oblivion" he reply was "By only having 3 factions for the player to join it allowed us at Bethesda to develop a richer and deeper experience for the player within those factions" so it would seem the faction system in Skyrim will be based on quality and not quantity.
That being said the Dark Brotherhood was never mentioned however unless it is one of the 3 factions (which if you listen to an earlier interview it is not) you wont be able to join them.
Would you like those words served up with salt or pepper?
Check out 3:02 of this interview
Confirmed that there are at least 4 factions. He mentions there is a hint of the 4th faction in the private 30 min press demo.
This hint was reported by other journalists who saw that demo as being a note found on a dead Orc mentioning the Dark Brotherhood.
It is interesting to note a couple of new things from this interview
1. Armor is limited to Boots, Gauntlets, Helmet, Cuirass+Greaves combined
2. Thieves' Guild is in Riften, College of Winterhold is in Winterhold (big surprise there) and Companions is in Whiterun. So no local thieves guild or companions office in every city.
3. Lots of cooking recipes

Yeah, I'm also really looking forward to the fan Q&A. Perhaps even more than the reveal of the rest of the races.
Watch, the questions will be things nobody cares about or things we already know.
Examples:
"Is teh Dragons magic!?!?!"
"Can we get a confirmation on socks and whether or not they've been streamlined?"
"So you're the Dovahkiin, correct? And can you tell us when it comes out?"

The examples they've given for the Radiant AI and their Radiant Story sound terrible ... And they keep repeating the same examples over and over.
I'm not holding my breath for those two aspects to be much better implemented than Oblivion.

Stuff that's been ran through the washer so to speak.
I'm sure it'll be specific since its tailored to fans.
Saw Game Informer had another small thing on Skyrim this month....the detail graphically look meticulous. The lighting, the textures (chills).
I just want other things to receive that attention as well. I would be disappointed if those were the only joinwble factions. There has to be others, and I'm sure there is. But if Bethesda made 3 very good factions and has solid writing, ties directly into the main quest like they say it will be and there are interesting and diverse quests in the faction questline, i'd be cool with that.
But there will be more factions. Wait and see, I feel pretty good about it

I hope they definitively say if a collector's edition will be released or not. It's the only question keeping me from pre-ordering at this point.
Same here. Game Stop said I could upgrade if I wanted to but it just doesn't feel the same. I'm so glad November 11 is a Friday, I presume by Monday i will have around 30 hours logged.
Then for a while on weekdays it'll be work and playing Skyrim every other night.
I won't lose my social life completely, just half of it. Lol.
This is the most excited I've been for a game since Mass Effect 2

I think it's safe to assume they will definitely release a Skyrim CE.
What it will contain, I have no idea, but Bethesda always does that for their TES games.

With Radiant Story, it will be interesting whether that will enhance quest mods.
