I finally played Oblivion and Skyrim for the first time.
On one hand I really like the games and think they are deserved of their GOTY status but on the other hand I'm a little disappointed and confused as to why the games are so overexaggerated and overhyped.
Also this arrow to the knee joke seems really unfunny and forced...the strange thing is halfway through my time playing Oblivion (Skyrim had been out for like three days then) a friend made me watch all the Imperial Guard parody videos and I chuckled a bit and thought it was pretty funny
But I said something along the lines of 'Its too bad people will most likely force an unfunny overused meme out of Skyrim most likely involving something normal a guard says that normally wouldn't be funny but people will force it to be funny anyway just for the sake of it' and that exact thing happened that I predicted...
Also the bugs are pretty annoying, I got stuck in an impossible situation in Skyrim and in both Oblivion and Skyrim I've gotten those weird flying corpse glitches at least once or twice and several other things have disappointed me greatly too, like the terrible, terrible level scaling (I did the retake Kvatch quest later in the game and all my people died and I had so much trouble getting to the end I had to turn the difficulty down and even then it was irritating having to spam the hell out of the million of frost atronachs, fighting brick walls in games is NOT fun)
Fortunately though Skyrim fixes much of Oblivion's flaws which is pretty cool, also no body mention PC mods, PC mods are not an excuse at all, especially since I played Oblivion on the 360 (ended up playing Skyrim on PC cause I didn't realize how better it is on the PC. Usually I play most games on my PC but my PC atm is relatively cheap and not good at running higher end games. Had to overclock and do all this stuff to play Skyrim smoothly.)
There are tons of other flaws but I don't really want to nitpick, overall the good parts outshine all of the flaws and I'm kind of eager to keep playing Skyrim (best way to spend my holidays) and to play the expansions and/or DLC they hopefully make.
Also in Skyrim I am a Heavy armored Nord that uses sword and shield and conjuration
