Nooooooooo! :o

The DB questline beats out all of the others, seriously - it's also one of the more emotionally investing. I did feel a lot more "kinship" with the other DB members than I did with, say, the Companions or the members of the Thieves Guild - so I was pretty pissed when a certain event happens later in that questline. I did put my werewolf form to good use in that situation.

Anyway, the grand finale of the DB quests left me in a state of shock. You knew it was eventually going to happen, but actually getting there and meeting your final target... wow. I was utterly speechless.

It's not as bad as the front-gate guard thinking that the Arch-mage is a new student of the Mages Guild in Cyrodiil, and the members of the College do acknowledge you as the new Arch-mage (except for two who seem to repeat their standard dialogue). The guards in the Holds will acknowledge that you are a mage from the College, and will reference certain actions committed by the mages at the College, although their dialogue towards the protagonist tends to be random.

This still annoyed me a lot in this game. By the time i joined the Companions I was already a Thane of damn near every hold, winner of the civil war, trapped a dragon and done a huge amount of quests yet Farkas says he's never heard of me. That was a horrible blow to my ego

Given Farkas' personality, I didn't find it that surprising. I don't think the protagonist even introduced himself when Farkas said that. I think it's supposed to be addressed by Kodlak saying the following line about the famous coming to them, and people coming to them to seek their fame.

I haven't met her yet, but most of the Mage followers I've tried were butt kickers. Eola does lots of destruction magic, summons atronarchs and raises dead enemies to join the side....if you can get past the whole 'eating people' thing. I passed on her in favor of Illia who is more of a frost themed mage. She's really great at impaling things with Ice spikes. Brelyna looks to be pretty good too but haven't really tried her out much yet.

But will probably depend on what level you pick them up at. Since you're on a console, you can't adust their level like on PC side.

Anska mostly used shock spells from what I noticed, as the location we were in was infested with Draugr Scourges (and Deathlords). After you help her retrieve her scroll, she rewards you with a flaming familiar spell that I have yet to try out.

I thought about recruiting Illia, but I've heard that there are some bugs with losing her as a follower, and since I am playing on XBox, there isn't a way to do a console fix, so to speak. She seemed pretty powerful, though.

Eola was a cutie, and tbh, my character was willing to do the required...action...to get Namira's ring.

Doesn't Eola only accompany you on the mission to clear out Reachcliff Cave? She certainly had a knack for slaughtering everything inside it with wild abandon. LOL.

She was, but something about the fact that she's a psychopath who kills and eats people was sort of a turn-off - even for a mass murderer like my Dragonborn (who eats people when he's a werewolf).

^After you finish Namira's quest, you can ask her to follow you.

That settles it; I need to try Eola out (and not in the creepy cannibal way you're all thinking).

I liked the Dark Brotherhood, and it was the first faction I joined with my original character. Hearing Veezara talk about how he was the last of the Shadowscales - knowing the part they played in the organization from the events in Cyrodiil from Teinaava and Ocheeva - was kind of solemn. I wish I could've spoken with Babette more about what it was like to be a vampire, how she became a vampire, what it was like to see the fall of the Dark Brotherhood from multiple sanctuaries across Tamriel to one remaining sanctuary, and that there could have been dialogue between the two about vampirism if the protagonist was also a vampire (or even offering to make the protagonist a vampire like Vicente Valtieri did). I've created a new character who follows my original character build - Dunmer stealth assassin. I'm curious to see how Arnbjorn responds to a werewolf protagonist this time around.

Illia is definately bugged. If she leaves your service you can't get her back. Easily fixed via console commands, and romancable via that too. The same codes that fix her can make nearly anyone a follower or marriage prospect. Fun!

This game would drive me to drink without console commands. Little things like the above bug and not being able to remove default clothing would drive me to drink. For example with Illia, she wears a hooded cloak that she won't take off in favor of better armor unless you make her wear a hat first. And I hate most hats.

Though I'm tempted to give up Illia in favor of coding Sapphire into being a follower. She has Eola's voice which I love, and better eating habits. Her only downside is her level limit is lower than Illia's 40 max. So her skills dont get past 60s in most cases.

Well at least until the construction set comes out and I can make her into a proper follower.Image IPB

^ Me too. Most of the time, hats make my character look bald. Not cool. Is it that hard to add hair underneath it? Come on, Bethesda, you can do it.
There you go again, Jack, taking your dolls' clothes off. Image IPB

I just realized that Ghorbash is trained in light armor and archery. Wow. I've been giving him ebony maces and ebony armor. No wonder he keeps pulling out his bow. Derp.

Ooh, are you talking about the Armor of the Old Gods? I loved that stuff on my character.

Have you tried the Falmer armor on her?

I still think Astrid has the sexiest voice in all of Skyrim - makes me melt every time I hear it. Too bad I will never hear it again until next playthrough. :(

And BTW, LobselVith (a fellow Silent Hill fan?) - Arnbjorn does acknowledge you as being a werewolf upon first meeting him, calling you "moon-born" and talking a bit about his time with the Companions.

No I have her in the actual forsaken armor. Which has the same look. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the Old God Armor due to a small 'accident' in prison. But the smithing ring I got instead helped get the regular Forsaken armor up to speed.

I haven't gotten any Falmer armor other than the Helmet yet. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

Wait... are you talking about Forsworn armor? I'm a little bit confused here.

And a full set of Falmer armor can be found in Mzinchaleft, IIRC.

Haha, oops. An "accident", you say. Image IPB

Here's a random image I found on Google of the Falmer stuff:

Yeah, I'm a fan of Silent Hill. I think the mythology is very interesting - hence, the name.

That sounds interesting. It's nice that he recognizes a fellow werewolf. I wish Sinding did during "Ill Met by Moonlight," since I met him after becoming a werewolf and thought he'd comment on it. I guess Arnbjorn isn't going to see me as a meatpie anymore. Image IPB

Silent Hill does have some interesting mythology behind it - and I sometimes even get a chance to look into it when I'm not running for my life from demon children with knives and pipe-wielding nurses. LOL.

Anyway, unfortunately he still calls you "ham hock" and other annoying names of that sort. I guess they didn't bother to give him any more unique dialogue beyond the initial greeting conversation.

Yep when Madanach asked me to kill the one actual thief in prison to prove myself, I 'accidently' thrust my arms forward in surprise. Of course those arms were holding Bound Swords at the time. Whoopsie.

Was almost cute when his Orc Bodyguard tried to avenge him. Never bring a prison shiv to a bound sword fight.

I find it very intriguing. The line from Silent Hill 3, "You see them as monsters?" interested me, because it opened up the idea that seeing them as creatures as a matter of interpretation, along with the over-arching idea that the town had a long history in the supernatural, from the First People (Native Americans) who lived there, to the cult that had risen from a mix of Christianity and the prior religion that preceeded it. The worlds, God, the Yellow God, the Red God, and what it all really means.

I think more dialogue would help, since Arnbjorn said that he says those things because of the werewolf>snack dynamic, which doesn't really work if the protagonist is a werewolf.

Wow, I'd never looked that deeply into the background of the games as that - I'd always been more interested in very nature of the town itself. It always manifests itself differently to varying degrees from one protagonist to another, reflecting each individual's own psyche - their fears, shame, regrets, etc. almost of a Freudian nature.

It makes for some truly interesting character studies because of that - especially for James, who is probably the most complex of the games' protagonists.

Anyway... I digress. I don't want to derail the thread too much. I'll just assume Arnbjorn continues saying such things as an assertion that he is the "superior" werewolf.

An armor rating of 1366 doesn't make sense. It is capped at 567 or so. 567 or higher only protects 80% of the damage. So 20% passes through, even if you have a million.

That's true.  But keep in mind that often times, enemies have the same weapon perks as you do.  If you're facing, for example,  a bandit/bandit chief who's using a mace or warhammer, and has the adequate perks, his attack gets to ignore up to 50% of your armor.  And that's when having an armor rating above the cap comes in useful. with ~1000 armor, you're still going to shrug off 80% of the physical damage

Explain it to me again. It just doesn't enter my brain. Sorry. If I understand it correctly when you have an AR of 1000 then 20% of the damage still comes through. The same goes for an AR of 2000. So, besides having the fun of a high armor rating there is no additional advantage. You will be getting more than 20% of the damage if the AR is less than 567, right?

Edit: You mean to say that 50% of your current AR (1000 in your example) is taken and not 50% of 567? I've read that this needs verification on the wiki's talk page.

I have another weird problem. The fletcher in Whiterun doesn't reset his store at all. Even if I stay away for longer than a day. Even tried 3 days. He used to reset his shop after 24 hours.

Anyone has an idea what I am missing?

I tried turning Elenwen in a follower once using the console, but it didn't work out. When I spawned her in the middle of Riften, I couldn't engage in dialogue with her and she just went off walking back to the embassy.

Funnily enough, Morrowind has also a Elenwen who also happens to be an Altmer sorcerer.

Anyway, this is how to turn anyone (within reason) into a follower:

1. Find the NPC you want to make a follower/marry. Open console with the tilde key. Click on the NPC. The NPC's ID will pop up when you click them, take note of the ID, you'll be using it later when you are setting relationship via console command.

If you want to marry the NPC type in: addfac 19809 1
If you want to make the NPC a follower type in: addfac 5C84D 1

2.
In order for the follow/marriage choice to appear, the NPC has to like you. To do this, you need to set the NPC's relationship level. To set the relationship between you and the follower correctly, you need to type in BOTH OF the following lines into the console.

Setrelationshiprank "NPC ID HERE" 4
Player.setrelationshiprank "NPC ID HERE" 4

3.
For certain NPCs, the marriage/follow options will not appear until you reset the NPCs dialogue options, to do so, type the following lines into the console.

Disable
Enable

4. If you just want to marry an NPC, you're done after the last step, the 4th step only pertains to people who are making NPCs followers. Inorder for some followers to fight enemies and instead of running around like idiots,
you need to set their confidence level. To do this, open the console, click the NPC, and type the following lines into the console.

setav aggression 1
setav confidence 3

5.
The last step you have to do is set your follower to essential, in order to do this you need to use the NPCs ID Number. To figure out the ID number you need to type the following into the console.

Help "NPCs Name" 4

This will give you the ID, along with a lot of other random data about the NPC, take the code you find and type in the line below.

setessential "The ID you found" 1

6.
You might find your new follower weak, and that's because your new follower does not level with you. Chances are they are a very low level and will die very quickly to anything that attacks them. The easiest way to remedy this is to open the console, click your follower and type.

setlevel "Insert level here"

After you complete step six, you're done. You now have your own essential NPC follower to do your bidding. Take note, if you do not set the NPC as essential, when they die, you may lose the NPC for good. Using resurrect
on the NPC via the console will bring the NPC back to life, but the NPC will no longer follow you and may disappear from the game completely.  So far, I haven't found a way around this, so setting the NPC to
essential is a must.

Good writeup Virumor. A few commands in there I hadn't known about in my experimenting. I'll have to try the setlevel thing on Sapphire to see if I can get her higher than the disable/enable commands got her.
