I recently made the switch to heavy armor on my sneak archer and after casting muffle I don't make any noise. And at low levels everytime you cast the spell you will gain experience towards the next level and you can use that to put perks into other trees.
I'm not sure how useful silent roll will be for an archer as you don't need to be close to an enemy to kill them. When you're sneak is high you can sit in one spot and snipe. Enemies will even walk up to you and still not see you. And to get Silent Roll you have to have Light Foot which is a complete waste because you can see every trap when you're sneaking around. Silence sounds good, but if you're not sneaking you don't don't get the triple damage bonus with your bows so I wouldn't take that either.
But that's just my two cents on archery.
I do much more than just archery, though - I often go in for one-handed instakills, especially in situations where using a bow is impractical (of which there are many). Silent Roll and Silence are invaluable for this purpose.
I haven't used anything other than a bow on this playthrough and I haven't run into many problems. At level 20 I was one shotting almost everything in sneak mode. Bosses and Mini Bosses took about 7 arrows in sneak mode then. At level 33 the Dragon Priest in Valthume went down in 10 while sneaking with a 50% Bow Elixier I bought at an Alchemy Shop. And I haven't come across many areas where you can't sneak either. When I am detected I just back away, or sprint away if the situation calls for it, from my enemy so they can't hit me.
But to each his own. I took the 15x damage from daggers when my Archery skill was lower thinking it would be useful to me. I even carried around an enchanted Glass Dagger but ultimately the only use I got out of it was cutting down spider webs. Bows won out.
