Is any one a vampire? Or has been? I'd like to hear some news about them.

I was a vampire.
There better than the ones in Oblivion, tbh.

Quick question:

I want to know, is there anyway to decrease the cost of the Solitude Manor, paid 25k for it lol. Just wondering before I play my next marathon is there anyway to get the cost reduced so as to save some gold, or was my 25k investment what stands. Thanks.

...I hate to admit it, but I'm actually getting a little burnt out on Skyrim - all of the dungeon crawling has worn me down, perhaps.

I might take a break for a day or two to recharge.

Thats what I did.
I got about.. 2 weeks into it, wasn't getting the "OMG ITS SYRIMMM" feeling, so I stopped playing so I wouldn't get burned on it.

I am now , to pass the time, playing Mass Effect 1&2.

I have a question guys and gals. Without spoilers, could somebody give me an estimate of how far along in the Main Quest I am? I'm trying to pace it as well as I can. I'm currently *(minor spoiler alert)* in Riften escorting Esbern back to Riverwood. Any idea how far along I might be percentage wise? Thanks :)

I'd estimate you are about halfway through.

Spoilers Follow:

Spoilers...you have been warned.

You have a major mission to find the old blade temple and from there you find out about a special shout needed to defeat Anduin.  Then you have to talk to Parthanaax (the Greybeards will finally let you).  However to learn this shout you have to go back in time requiring an Elder Scroll.....and yet another fairly lengthy dungeon crawl/quest.

After all this you have to "convince" a dragon to betray Anduin by capturing him.  Parth or the Blades will tell you how.

WARNING:  Once you have captured the dragon and he takes you to meet Anduin, you can not go back and do other quests until the main plot is done.

End Spoilers

I hope this helps.

Loved that book! hehe

Huh, I didn't even know we could use companions to open locks! I have some 350 lockpicks on my inv from looting all I killed and level 100 skill only from opening all locks I found. =)

How do we do it?  "I want you to do something for me" line?

yes, exactly.

In fact, you don't need to even open any dialog to issue commands. Just hold down the "talk" button (for me this is my Mouse3 button) and the reticle will change a bit, showing that you can now command your companion to do things (attack creature X, unlock that door or chest over there, take all from chest, search enemy corpse, take something, etc)

Just remember to not press Tab (exit) until after they complete the task.

Streamlining a Sandbox RPG and somehow making a seemingly average graphic engine make environments look stunning can attract many people. Plus

FUS ROH DAH!!!

Seriously thought Skyrim was the best way to get many people into a RPG. Oblivion could have done it but it failed at it.

Well considering your soul is in actuality an Aedric and not a mortal one, I would put good money on being able to choose where you go in the after life.

Me? I am so taking the eternal pub crawl that is known as Sanguine.

They just stick the knife in and then turn it by having Karliah and Gallus be all "I will meet you in the shadows my love, and we will never be parted."

Turn to Brynjolf... "back to work, lass."

Stop criminal scum!

Just kidding.  I'll probably go back to FNV for a while.  I've been putting it off because we got a new PC so I have to reload all my mods or my old saves will be messed up.

Fallout 3 is what got me playing video games, but Oblivion followed and I played that endlessly.

Wow, it was exactly the same for me.

(excluding the games I played as a kid about 20 years ago)

It started to feel like combat was becoming a bit too easy after reaching level 45 with my first character (took about 200 hours and I only did about 50% of the thieves guild, plus a few other quests, but almost none of the MQ, civil war and none of the other factions)

So I started a brand new character who was the polar opposite of my sneaky Dunmer.

This one is a Nord barbarian who supports the Stormcloaks and doesn't use any archery, lockpicking, sneaking, alchemy, enchanting or any magic.

I also started a Breton mage who won't use any weapons or armor at all, relying exclusively on magic for attack and defense.

I completed the tutorial and Bleak Falls Barrow and each was an entirely brand new experience for me, having been accustomed to sneaking around everywhere and stealth attacks.

I'm really looking forward to developing the mage character and trying out some of the rune spells, but the straightforward, non-nonsense Nord is so much fun that I haven't gotten back to the mage yet. I became a werewolf recently and it's a lot of fun, but I think on Master it's still very challenging to play a werewolf. I thought I would get one-shotted less after using beast form but that's not the case.

Each of these three characters provides a completely different gameplay experience. There must have been a massive amount of work behind the scenes with iterations to get the balance just right so it feels like the "ultimate" warrior game, thief game, archer game, mage game and assassin game.

Old Nintendo 64 Mario games is what got me into gaming lol but yeah I can see that. Fallout 3 was also a good way to get into games. I played Oblivion to and while I loved it the game got pointless after a while without mods and dlc.

I don't think it's about the way I'm playing my characters - it's just the sheer size of the game is a little overwhelming at times. It's easy to end up with too much on your plate in the game and get a little stressed out trying to handle it all...

...just like in real life, to be honest. Lulz.

Still looking for an answer...NO SPOILERS PRESENT IN Q nor should any be in A...also Skyrim is like real life with the exception of the dragons and all...but its a true adventurer's paradise...I just wish everyone wouldn't talk to you when you walk within a certain distance of them...lol...that and EVERYONE has something for you to do.

Well, I've been playing shooters since Wolfenstein, but Origins was my first RPG, followed by Mass Effect and FO3.  Played Oblivion soon after, and have to admit that it was a bit of a chore for me personally, but I spent a good 200 hours in it.

Skyrim is a gigantic leap forward for the franchise (and RPGs in general) in my view.  Personally I'm glad to see insane sales numbers for a game in the RPG genre, especially one that I have enjoyed so much.  While other developers are falling all over themselves cutting content, focusing on 'commercial elements,' streamlining to the point of treating players like ignoramuses, and seemingly obsessing over making interactive movies, Bethesda went in the opposite direction, stuffed this game to the brim with an insane amount of content, and really struck a chord.

I wonder if other developers are paying attention.  Being able to "afford" a five year development cycle is probably quite an advantage though.

True. But when I was starting to feel like that with my second char I decided it was time for Fast Travel and it worked. I was able to complete lots and lots of quests that were hanging there for a long while and now I'm dedicating to MQ and then Civil War quests. Game feels fresh again. 200 hours and level 62 on this char, which is the same as the first one but much better built and played. (first one, 220 hrs, retired at level 59 without doing any civil war quests and just 2 of MQ)

Right.  I remember doing preparation for Smithing-up some weapons and armor...an hour later, I'm still "preparing."  I've finally got to the point that good enough is, in fact, good enough.

I'm working on remembering that this game is about having fun, discovering, exploring, and kicking butt.  I'm trying to let the chores and the ridiculous notion that I have to micromanage everything, just slide away.  I've been having alot more fun since.
