I haven't touched the game in over a week but I blame myself for playing too much too fast. Nothing against the game whatsoever in fact the desire to play more is coming back to me.

I don't think it's about the way I'm playing my characters - it's just the sheer size of the game is a little overwhelming at times. It's easy to end up with too much on your plate in the game and get a little stressed out trying to handle it all...

...just like in real life, to be honest. Lulz.

Right.  I remember doing preparation for Smithing-up some weapons and armor...an hour later, I'm still "preparing."  I've finally got to the point that good enough is, in fact, good enough.

I'm working on remembering that this game is about having fun, discovering, exploring, and kicking butt.  I'm trying to let the chores and the ridiculous notion that I have to micromanage everything, just slide away.  I've been having alot more fun since.

urgh you casual gamer

part of an RPG is the micro managerment and tactical customization. It's a shame that video games today are being catered to the type of people that can't sit down and immerse themselves with puzzles or strategy, because people want ACTION BUTTON RAMPAGe.

Oh yes god forbid a game be fun. you have to micromanage everything. You need to know how to run a country before you can explore it first *rolls eyes*
It can't possibly be that people want to relax and have fun with a f-ing game during their free time because you know free time isn't infinite to everyone.
I personally have no problem with the smithing and other stuff in this game but I TOTALLY understand why some would.

...wait, what?

I wasn't talking about any of that. I'm not even sure why Smithing is being mentioned - you can get 100 Smithing in like 15 minutes just buying iron bars and forging daggers.

I was talking more about dungeon crawling and misc. quests. It's easy to stack up on misc. quests and have to tackle four or five dungeons - and the dungeons in this game are pretty damn big.

It just wears you out a bit after a while. No biggie - I'll get back on it probably tomorrow.

Wow, just read sales for Skyrim are now at this level: $845 million...and climbing.

You've gotta be careful there SfS,  Bethseda plays fast and loose with sales figures.  They announce units shipped,  not units sold.

You can see this most readily be researching Fallout 3.  Bethseda made a big announcement of 4.6 million units,  but when you go back and do the math on the NPD numbers,  you come up with less than 2 million during the same time frame.

I'm pretty confident that's what's happening here.  I was at my local BestBuy tonight,  they had over 40 copies on the shelves.  I'm guessing Bethseda is counting these as sold,  even though it's entirely possible they'll have to take charge-backs on them.

You'll notice that neither Zenimax,  nor Bethseda actually have sales claims on their sites.  If you dig a bit,  you'll find the announcement was actually units shipped,  not units sold.  1up's article on it states it's shipped,  not sold,  as do many others.

Especially given the massive problems with the PS3,  there's a very real chance the number will be substantially smaller than what's presently floating around.  Skyrim presently has a 5.4 rating on the PS3 version on Metacritic because of the issues,  a strong indicator they're at risk of significant charge-backs when stores return copies*.

*Major retailers sign contracts with publishers,  they "Buy" X numbers of copies of a game,  with the understanding that if some predefined percentage is left after 6-12 months,  then the publisher has to buy them back.  The publisher then also has to pay to dispose of them.  So while Zenimax may have shipped X units,  if they don't sell,  they'll be buying them back.  This is why "Units shipped" and "Units sold" are two very different things,  because Units Shipped doesnt mean the publisher is guaranteed the money,  and it could actually end up costing them and causing a net loss.

Ok I've got a question for you folks. I just got a quest in regards to look for something called the 'Forgemaster's Fingers" from one of the Orc strong holds that I was passing by. Heck I didn't even have to ask anyone.<G> Now I didn't get this one in my last play through. But in another orc stronghold I did in fact have to do a Daedra quest.

Now the Orc that gave me the quest for the Forgemaster's finger's said I would be Blood kin or something like that there and would be able to visit the orc strongholds freely. Does that mean that If I do this one it will keep me from getting the Daedric quest one? Or can I do them both. YOu see I want to try and do all the Daedric quest ones this time as the one in Markarth I killed off the last time which I found it had to do with canibalism. For some reason that there just didn't interest me at all.

And help would be appreciated

I don't have an answer to your question, but I know that this isn't accurate.

Doing the Forgemaster's Gauntlets quest will make  the Orcs at that stronghold declare you a Bloodkin, yes.  But that doesn't mean you'll instantly be welcome at every Orc Stronghold, and they never  claimed such a thing anyway.

The whole Blood-Kin quest is just for getting entrance into the orc strongholds. Orcs get in for free, everybody else has to prove themselves.

Oh, btw. I finally made a good screen of my breton spellsword Cédric. Even found a mod for the ebony armor to make him look more Legion aligned

Yrkoon- Well I knew that it was in fact something along the lines of what I had said about being bloodkin to the orcs and I wasn't sure if it was just at that stronghold or all of them as I had gotten the quest a few days ago and hadn't done it yet.

Tobi- So are you saying that if I do the Forgemaster's fingers I'll still be able to do the Daedric quest that you get from one of the other strongholds?

BTW Cool looking armor you got there. I like it. Might have to look for that mod and make a set of Ebony armor like it for when I play through the civil war quest doing the Imperials. Looks more appropriate than Daedric.

As far as I know, sure. The whole blood-kin thing is just to get entrance into the strongholds. Don't think that it interferes with Malacath's quest in any way.

No. It doesn't prevent you from getting quests from each stronghold, including the Daedra Heart and Troll Fat to start Malacath's quest.

Korrin -Week 5- reunited with Lydia and completed Sanguine's quest (getting Lydia to stay back while sneak attacking some mages).  Then headed over to Dawnstar for the first time, killed the attacking dragon, and dealt with the bad dream problem.  Then did a little quest for the companions and killed a second dark brotherhood assassin hired to kill her.  Decided to look into the Dark Brotherhood, so sent Lydia home, and went to visit a certain boy (and learnt more about how the Nords had been ill-treating her kinsfolk).
Then headed South for her first visit to Riften, stopping to kill a dragon, fight bandit abducters and entered and found a cave filled with bears (am I the only one who chooses to misspell their name as "care bears"?)
In Riften, killed a "kind" woman and joined the thieves guild and started doing jobs for them (burning beehives and poisoning mead).
About 70 hours in, about level 32 and still haven't visited Falkreath

Finished the Thieves' Guild quests, except for the radiant ones.

This is the last time I'll whine about this (maybe), but it's even more a knife in the gut that you can't marry Brynjolf since he ends up being the only man in Tamriel you can spend eternity with. Bethesda, you slayers of romance, you. Actually my PC got married right before the whole "pact with Nocturnal" thing came up, and if I wasn't trying to finish the quest line I'm sure she'd have walked right back out. Screw Mercer, screw the guild, and definitely screw Nocturnal- I'm spending eternity with my burly Nord in Sovngarde, you fools!
.

Well Nocturnal may have a claim on my soul, buit so do Hircine and Sithis, added to that I have the soul of a lesser Aedra(maybe). So do I get to walk away scot free on account of the Aedra thing? Or how will Nocturnal, Hircine and Sithis decide who gets it. Though i'm inclined to say that the Void might beat a Daedric Prince

@Tobi thanks for the info I appreicate it.

As for my current play through I've yet to make it to Riften; Markarth or Falkreath. I've just Visited Solitude for the 1st time and figure while she was there she'd buy a house and become thane. So I did them small quests got the house and thane and worked on upgrading/enchanting weapons and armor. Now I've got about 8 quests for which I'm going to Do up and get them out of the pending part of the journal. 5 of these are Daedric quests. One is for restoring a tree in Whiterun and the other is the Lights Out quest in Solitude as well as for Murder on Ice. Once I get these all done think I'll join the companions and thieves guild.<G>

I just did this quest yesterday, although it comes with a twist if you have bad relations with orcs at other orc strongholds prior to doing this one. The Forgemaster's Fingers, for me, were in a rather disturbing and disgusting location if you think about it, I'm not sure if Radiant Story switches it up if you were at this dungeon already. Walking up to the entrance of the cave I went to to get them you'll have a clear and concise idea what is in the cave :P.

I did the Markarth Daedra quest (for me it was Malog Bal....probably the same for everyone) and it wasn't a cannibal quest as much as murdering an innocent priest to satisfy Malog Bal. The Mace of Malog Bal (37 pts. magicka damage, 37 pts. stamina damage, fills soul gem in target dies within 3 seconds) is a sweet mace (functionality and appearance) and I use it rarely if I'm out of magicka and magicka potions.

Hope that helps a little Redneck1st.

How many Daedric quests involve killing priests?
I think I've found 3 like that.(I've left the torture and canibalism ones dangling and refused the other)

Yeah these Daedra are no joke.  If it involves killing a priest from another cult, I have no problem.

@Sympathyforsaren- Now there are 2 Daedra quests in Markarth that you get one is in the house which I believe that is Bolag and the other you get from a gal in understone if IRC. Now the one that you get in Understone in Markarth is the one for Canibilism. I rember that there from my 1st play through. This time I've yet to get to Markarth.

I just wanted to make sure that if I did the Forgemasters fingers I'd still be able to do the Daedric quest. Which from what folks say I'll be able to without any problems.

You see this time through I'm going to follow through with all the daedric quests just so that I can get the Achievement thing.<G>

@GetMagna- My last playthrough when I found out the one Daedra quest you get in Markarth was canibalism I killed that quest by killing th one priestess that gives you the quest.<G> @ the time I didn't realize it was a Daedric quest till a friend told me about it.

@Blaidfiste- Yes but some of their weapons sure look good hanging in my home on the wall.<G>

Speaking of homes I've currently got 2 houses so far the one in Whiterun and now the one in Solitude. I'm out to buy them all and see which I like better.<G>

I think its more that he is the one who spreads diseases, but he is interested in keeping everything in order.
If he was evil or an ass he would try and kill EVERYONE, but he does not.

Fun is a subjective thing.. I enjoy micromanagement

Is stupid whining because you have to micromanage things in a game.. There are more "Casual gamers titles around" like Dragon age 2 or Fable or others...

And since when you puchase a game you must have in mind what the game have to offer.. If he complain about the necessity of mircomanage things maybe he chosen the wrong game for him....

In an era when rpg getting dumbed down and stripped of features im glad to have a title like skyrim that have much to offer..

Can we please keep the HARDCORE VS CASUAL debate in another place please?

It always ends up being a painful thing to watch and only ever leads to trouble.

Skyrim can be for both the Hardcore and the casual so...not much actual debate here.

You can max out everything play every quest and stuff or just play through the main...and you will not be penalised for getting to Alduin in, let say level 13 so...it accomodates all the spectrum nicely.

In fact i don't see this problem... Honestly i think this game can offer much to both gamers.. Hardcore and Casuals.. But i don't understeand why someone complain if some features are present..Smith isn't necessary if you don't want.. Also Alchemy o Enchanding.. So i don't see the problem..

The problem is when someone comes out claming Fun as a common feature when is total subjective..

Someone have fun just mashing buttons..
Other like me have fun also with micromanagement
