I suppose it isn't impossible, but Arnbjorn assumes that the only place the protagonist could become a werewolf is through the Companions, which I don't think would be the kind of assumption he would make if he became a werewolf in the wild. I thought it was interesting, given the possible implications that lycanthropy could have had on Arnbjorn's personality.

Quick question:

I want to know, is there anyway to decrease the cost of the Solitude Manor, paid 25k for it lol. Just wondering before I play my next marathon is there anyway to get the cost reduced so as to save some gold, or was my 25k investment what stands. Thanks.

Only $25k? I dumped $76k into that sucker before even looking at it and if I ever get through my first play-through sometime before April and start another one. I will only be buying it for the Thane role. That house is completely laid out wrong and I HATE Solitude except that you can buy Daedric arrows there. And to answer your question, No the base price of the houses are not haggle material. ;( I wish, I am walking around with 100% increase with Haggle gear and it did not make a difference.

I still have to get the house in Windhelm but I just found out from my hubby that you have to do the Civil War quest to get so that is going to be a while. Without a doubt that is the one I lust after. It has more bookshelves, it is spacious and laid out well. I am heartbroken that I have to wait but there is too much to do before starting the Civil War path. ;) Riften and Whiterun will have to do until then. Although I do not know what the Markarth house looks like. Another town I think needs to be blown off of the map.

Someone mentioned before about how easy it is to get money, not when you have 5 houses, enchanting, alchemy, Ebony/Daedric arrows to buy and a ton of Merchants to invest in. *LOL*

Isn't Vilkas complaining that he has a hard time controlling his bloodlust?

Maybe Arnbjorn, being a bit psychotic already, just embraced the bloodlust and became the nasty and aggressive guy we get to know.

That also would imply that the Companions actually failed in judging his character. It probably isn't the best idea to infuse someone with "the beast" if he is already a brutal guy.

^ That's true, and I wonder what Kodlak saw in Arnbjorn, if he's the great judge of character Aela described him to be.

Completely different subject, but is there anywhere to get blank (non-enchanted) TG armor? I'd love to add my own enchantments.

That's the interpretation I got from Vilkas' conversation. Kodlak and Vilkas seem to be discussing the difficulty in controlling their bestial nature when the protagonist initially approaches them in Jorrvaskr.

I'd have to wonder how brutal Arnbjorn was, initially. I recall Uthgerd the Unbroken mentioning that being brutal is what kept her from being one of the Companions, and Arnbjorn doesn't exactly seem to be the subtle type. Maybe Aela and Skjor thought he would be an asset in dealing with the Silver Hand, the same way they bring the protagonist into the fold to help them decimate the werewolf hunters?

Is any one a vampire? Or has been? I'd like to hear some news about them.

I was a Werewolf to start because of my joining up with the Companions. I loved not being able to be diseased or poisoned but the other abilities were not really worth it for my playstyle. You cannot access any of the menus and you are stuck that way without heals (other than feeding while you are fighting) for 2 mins. Unlike being a Werewolf where if you cure yourself you can never be a werewolf again, you can cure Vampirism through a quest and become a vampire again later if you want it back.

After I joined the Thevies Guild the bonuses to sneak and other bonuses you get for being a Vampire really rock for a Thief. I LOVE being a vampire but it is a bit of work. The whole, "make sure you feed on your Housecarl or if it is past 12 am some poor old lady in the village before you leave for a long Fast Travel" thing.

I never allow myself to hit Stage 4 vampire if I can help it. So I never have to worry about ppl or guards, etc. attacking me. Considering the upgrades with each Stage and why I wanted to be a vampire, Stage 4 is not really that beneficial. The cool thing is that with the DE race you already get 50% resist to fire so at Stage 1 you still have a 25% resist to fire and because of vampirism you get 25% resist to cold. I vasililate between Stage 1 - 3 all of the time. I do not use most of the powers but I got it mostly for the bonuses for my sneak and resist cold

If you do not have the Guidebook here are some of the bonuses:

Advantages:

Immune to Disease and Poison
Illusion spells that you cast are 25% more powerful
25% harder to detect while Sneaking
Resist Frost, S1-25%, S-2 50%, S-3 75%, S-4 100%

Stage 1 Powers:

Vampire's Sight,
For 60 secs you can see better in the dark and it is reuseable and you can turn it off and on without wait time.
(Awesome when in Falmer dungeons)

Vampiric Drain, Destruction spell  absorbs 2 hp per sec.
(meh not really that great and it does not improve Destruction when you use it so I never use this spell. I have weapons for that.)

Vampire's Servant, Once per day, you can reanimate a lvl 6 or lower dead creature to fight for you for 60 secs.
(Again, I have reanimate corpse and the conjuration line so I do not bother with this one)

Stage 2 Powers:

All the above with upgrades plus,

Vampire Seduction, Creatures and ppl up to lvl 8 won't fight or fllee for 30 secs.
(Sometimes comes in handy with Dragons attacking villages. But overall I do not use it.)

Vampire Drain raises from 2hp to 3 and Vampire Seduction ups to lvl 13

Stage 3 Powers:

All of the above with upgrades:

Vampire Drain raises from 3hp to 4 and Vampire Seduction ups to lvl 21

Stage 4 Powers:

All of the above with upgrades plus:

Embrace Shadows, Once per day you  can invoke the power to gain Vampire's Sight AND Invisibility for 3 minutes.
(I personally do not think this is really worth it for my character as I never want Vampire's Sight on that long or I would go blind. Plus I have Illusion spells so I already have Invis with dual cast which makes it last 60 secs and that is a really long time.)

The disadvantages are not big enough to me to keep me from being a vampire so it works out well and I love it. :)

Yeah I never have trouble finding things to spend gold on, either.

Where do you buy arrows in Solitude??

I also dislike Proudspire Manor.  Markarth is nice, though somewhat small and dark compared to Hjerim.

Given how Torvar seems drunk half the time, I'd assume Kodlak is a bit more pragmatic about letting people fight for the Companions than anyone lets on.

Lucky duck! I'm on XBox, so no mods for me. Image IPB

I guess I was just thinking that maybe, just maybe, there would be something out there you could find and enchant, like the "black mage robe", and whatnot. Just for giggles, I was enchanting random "fine clothing" last night, to increase my skill.

Aw that's a bummer. I do not know of any "blank" Thieves' Guild armor.  The mod is quite nice because I can adjust the enchantments since not all of them are useful to my character.  The Nightingale armor was especially dud in its original setup.

Image IPB Well played!

With my archer, I do use Eagle Eye, and have a couple of other archery perks as well, but my biggest problem is that I'm just not seeing targets before I stumble upon them.

In my first playthrough, I acquired all of the shouts, so I was able to use Aura Whisper to see where they were at, but in these new ones, they're too low-level to use Detect Life, and I haven't gotten the AW shout yet. Might need to move that to the top of my priority list.

Edit: And can I just say how happy I am that resistances are fixed from the latest patch? What a tragedy it was for my Breton, who was supposed to have magic resistance, to be just like everyone else. Waa.

Thanks! Guess this is where we get the line, "Sticky fingers"!

I do not own a 360, but I was able to increase the Brightness enough on my PC via settings that it helped night vision a great deal.

FWIW - for outside sniping, Clear Skies Shout works wonders, but it will alert everyone, so use carefully.

I played as a vampire, but then stopped, b/c it was so frustrating having to go outside on day time. Your health, stamina and magicka wouldn't regenerate, and you get 20% of from them with each stage. On night time it's a different story.

But I prefer werewolf. They're cool.

Just a theory here:

IF Talos did become a god, and if he was Dragonborn in the same way that the PC is in Skyrim, perhaps that is what is in store for the Dragonborn.

Then again they did it with the Oblivion PC so twice in a row may be a bit silly.
Though it would be funny if it did happen just to tweak the nose of the Thalmor.

Played straight that could be THREE humans who became gods...when none of them have.
Talos, the Champion of Cyrodil, and the Dragonborn of Skyrim.

Hmm. Maybe I'll just get Linwe's, and deal with whatever enchantments it comes stock with. I like the sleeveless look.

Technically there was multiple Dragonborns in history. The PC could become part of the 9 divines this time instead of a Daedric Prince like in Oblivion.

Finally got around to finishing the main quest. All I have to say about that is that the final boss disappointed me greatly. I guessed as much that it would highly resemble your typical dragon fight, but I was at least hoping for some cool gameplay twist to it.

Amazing game overall, though.

Agreed.  That last fight was supposed to be MY moment.  Me vs Boss.  That moment was stolen from me.  However, after playing Morrowind and Oblivion for hundreds of hours, Skyrim's was the the first main quest I've completed.

^ I did die once in that...general area. I didn't realize where the bridge was, and tried jumping off the waterfall into Oblivion. Didn't work so well.

Otherwise, yeah, not particularly difficult around level 50.

Yeah, if you can stand to hear, "I am sworn to carry your burdens", ad nauseum.

Eh, I get driven mad by the "Summon Lucien" move. He's a great fighter, but how many times does he have to tell the story about so-and-so bellamont?

Good point. I let him out to play just once, and never again. I thought I'd try wiping out bandit camps with a full posse (Atronachs, stray dog, Lucien LaChance, and whichever follower I had at that time). It was ridiculous, and Lucien never, ever shuts up. Actually, now that you mention it, he's worse than Mjoll, which is a miracle in itself.

Edit: I forgot to add that Shadowmere was also part of the kill posse.

None of those followers are as annoying as dual undead thrall "AAAAAAAHHH" every 10 seconds!  Thankfully there's a mod that turns down their volume.

The Dragonborn is the lamest and weakest TES protagonist so far. In the end, (s)he's not even needed in the final fight against Alduin, you can just stand around and the other three heroes kill Alduin just fine.

Of course, Bethesda went overboard with the protagonists of Morrowind and Oblivion, who became nothing short of (demi)gods in the end. But even the ones of Arena and Daggerfall have the edge over the Dragonborn, since they had no special powers yet saved Tamriel all on their own without any direct help.

There's somebody on Bethsoft forum who has played around with the idea of there being a trinity of people in Skyrim the way there was in creating the god Talos.  Talos the god is actually a "fusion" of Tiber Septim, Ysgramor and Zurin Arctus.  So this guy speculates that for a Stormcloak run, it would be Ulfric (Stormcloak ~ Stormcrown, which was a name of Tiber Septim), Galmar and the Dragonborn.  I haven't seen his theory on who it would be for an imperial run.

I don't know if I buy it, but reading his posts made me understand the lore a bit more.  Until I started reading the lore forum, then I understood it even less...
