Uh oh! I seem to have run into a nasty glitch - I just killed a dragon, but it won't burn up and give me its soul! :o

I've tried reloading and redoing the battle, but it still won't die properly. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Are you using Patch 1.3? This was one of the issues that was supposed to be resolved by the patch.

I experienced this once with Patch 1.1, but I haven't since updating.

Now that you mention it it hasn't happened to me since that patch.

Although it takes a lot longer, there is a way to get daedric arrows completely free, without stealing.

If you have a follower who uses bows, equip them with 1 daedric arrows. The game treats it as an infinite supply for them, and as they shoot enemies, you can loot the arrows as you see fit.

This, really, is how i've gotten all of my arrows.

Welcome!  I've heard about this, but it has yet to work for me.

And... I had been in that archery shop in Solitude once and then forgot about it.  It was on my previous character, not my archer, who's been scrounging.  *facepalm*

From my experience, it works best on large enemies such as mammoths/dragons and dwarven spiders, etc.

It doesn't always show up, so the larger the enemy, the more arrows that are put in them, and the greater chance you have of recovering some of the arrows.

with the dawrven enemies, the arrows bounce off of them, so if you see where the arrows landed, you can just pick them up.

Obvious advice: try quicksaving frequently.

Anyone else kind of find it funny that you can basically flip off on Daedric prince after the other and get away with it?

I mean in my first game:
I did not kill that guy for Dagon.
Nor did I kill that guy for Vaermina
Then I killed that priest instead of taking him to Molag Bal
Then I kind of wiped out Boethiahs AND Namira's cult.
Also I stuffed the Ebony Blade in a trunk....

So I still kind of find it funny that I pissed off like half the Daedric princes and got away with it.

Yeah, I told all of the Daedric Princes other than Sanguine, Sheogorath, and Azura to shove it - especially Dagon, who I was already quite familiar with and had no inclination to help in any way. It's because of his sorry ass that the Septim bloodline is gone and the Empire is in shambles, and I won't soon forget it.

Its just really my issue is how they all treat you like garbage, or most of them do.

Sanguine I liked since he treats you like his drinking buddy, and Sheogorath was just giving a psychology lesson. It always irks me when I get talked down to, and have orders barked at.

Then again even the "nice" princes are still gigantic dick heads.
Azura especially.

I mean Morrowind was all her tearing the Tribunal a new one for what they did a very long time ago. Oblivion hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Seriously though even if it would cost the PC to do this in the after life giving those bastards the finger is so worth it.

I go to loot this woman's corpse and she says in a bored voice, "Need something?"  LOL

She and a couple people were swimming in the hot springs.  Their clothes were on the bank, I assume to tempt pranksters who might try to steal them.

I don't understand why mage robes lick so much nards....I didn't realize it until recently...but playing as a caster with pure mage robes on a difficulty of master or expert is just fail...I started using heavy armor...I see no real draw back consider I spam spells from a distance then conjure blades to bring the pain.

On Master, I had a much more difficult time completing Bleak Falls Barrow as a pure warrior than as a pure mage. (probably due primarily to the fact that my warrior has absolutely zero ranged attacks)

I was playing a Breton mage who starts out with Conjure Familiar, and I used the heck out of that spell. It realy helped when I got to level 2 or 3 and got the perk that reduces conjuration spell magicka cost.

I would imagine the easiest type of character build would be any sort of hybrid, who uses combination of archery/stealth + magic or battlemage who uses weapons, enchanting, etc. + spells.

It has been really challenging playing as a pure stealth or pure warrior who doesn't use any spells or enchanting whatsoever. Pure mage is certainly not a cakewalk, either, however.

True Warriors can learn Enchanting. In other games, like Risen, enchanting is just a perk of Smithing. I see it as the same in Skyrim. It is a type of magic but totally different from casting spells. Although my blade is a plain Nord Hero Greatsword, I like my enchanted gear and I have an enchanted Ebony Greatsword to burn and collect souls when needed. Oh, I also use lots of Healing and Healing Hands. Feels a bit like a Paladin. =)

P.S: I had not much difficulty on Master in Bleak Falls Barrows and I was a pure low level warrior then. Greatsword owns with the perks for damage and critical strike chance.

Enchanting makes the game quite easy, even on Master. For a strong two-handed, heavy armor warrior with good equipment, elemental attacks are pretty much the only threat. They can devastate you within seconds.
Once you enchant your gear to resist that, the game becomes really easy. If you also improve your two-handed skill, it becomes pure murder.... Perhaps too easy.
Otherwise you can hope to get resist amulets/rings/boots from vendors or loot, but it's highly random, probably won't cover all fronts anytime soon... and boots probably won't match your armor set. But with enchanted protection you becaome a walking Juggernaut of destruction, where most enemies fall in 1 power attack.

Yes, I also found using more than one of the three crafting skills makes the combat a little bit too easy once you get to a high level.

I try to use only either Smithing, Enchanting or Alchemy for each character, but not more than one.

Ok now I've been thinking about a few things here. Now the whole civil war between the Imperials and the Strom Cloaks is due to the Talos being banned after the treaty of the Golden Con__ sorry can't remember what it's called.

Now what I am wondering is when you infiltrate that party at the Thalmor ambassaor's place while you are going through looking for evidence into whether or not they are the ones who are bringing back the Dragons. What would happen if you were to kill the ambassador herself as well as the Thalmor guards and mages? Would that start the war with the Thalmor all over again? <EG>

And exactly whose side is the Foresworn on in this whole mess? Or are they just some fanatic group that kills whomever don't think the way for which they do? After all they don't know are thoughts about anything yet whenever we go near one of their areas they attack us. Not that I'm complaining as it keeps me in soul gems.<LOL> But are they on the side of the Storm cloaks or the Imperials? Or are they in fact just a splinter group?

If you ask me Ulfric and the storm cloaks are going about the whole war the wrong way. They shouldn't be attacking the Imperials they should in fact be attacking those arogant Thalmor.

They are on their own side.  They were driven out of Markarth by Ulfric when he was still an imperial soldier, so they're on a mission to get their city back and are living as raiders basically.

They do- you don't see any Thalmor in Stormcloak territory.

Of course they will treat you like their lesser. You kind of are lol even if you are dragonborn. I also really would like consequences for betraying them though...like Azura and her star for example....she should've been pissed once you make it black.

Addai-Well if the Foresworn are on their own side why kill any and everyone that comes by that isn't one of them? After all one of them could be a potential ally and want to help them out?

I did notice that there aren't any Thalmor within the area's favored by the Storm Cloaks. This is my 2nd play through both sides have valid points of why to join them. I think that the Thalmor are arogant SOBs and would love to kill every last one of them if I could get away with it.

Got another way easier then this.
Pickpocket someone trains archery, place the arrows you want, then harvest form targets after his training :)
Works wonders you can have100+ arrows in 10 min. at Thieves guild or at some barracks.

For now, maybe.   But as you alluded to,  Eventually, your character will die and  his soul will leave this plane of existance.  Then you'll find out  if you 'got away' with anything at all.

For lesser arrows; perhaps, but not Daedric ones. But I found several in shops in my first play, but this may have been past 50th lvl at the time.

I think i explained it a bit wrong.

First rob someone all of his arrows training archery on dummy targets. Then plant his/her inventory your choive of arrows. He/she go and start pounding dummies with new infinitive arrows. Go harvest your arrows from dummies :)

Disclaimer: Havent triedt it after 1.03 so maybe thats changed.

Gah, looks like I'll have to wait until the CK comes out before I'm able to mod in remote lever/button/chain/etc activation using the Telekinesis spell. Let alone all my other ideas such as a Perk Overhaul... unless I'm willing to use TESSnip. But Hex Code can go DIAF.

On a positive note, I modded myself a Continuous Unrelenting Force spell (like Flames). Needless to say, I went through Whiterun with the spell on nonstop, people flying everywhere.

:P

Still looking for the setting that modifies the damage from static objects flying around. If I can't have Telekinesis pull levers from across the room, I sure as hell am gonna have it to launch deadly pots and buckets at people.

Since there's already a teleport spell in the game (just not for the player), I might wanna try test that out tomorrow. There's also Banish, see if I can't extend that to everyone. But for now, I'm just gonna play a little rather than experiment with Skyedit (which is absolutely awesome btw). Sounds all like OP stuff, but I'll get it into balance eventually, just want to see what's possible.

Also, I don't think it needs to be said, but the environments for this game are fan-bloody-tastic.

I am right there with you when it comes to having to remember all of the details. I always have to write stuff down and constantly reference it. I guess I am getting old. hehe But like I said before, I do not use most of the extra spells, etc. and only have it for the sneak/resist bonuses. All I have to remember is feed before fast travel so that I do not get attacked by the townsfolk. Other than that I just use Vampire's Sight and the bonuses.

I played as a vampire, but then stopped,
b/c it was so frustrating having to go outside on day time. Your
health, stamina and magicka wouldn't regenerate, and you get 20% of from
them with each stage. On night time it's a different story.

But I prefer werewolf. They're cool.

Being outside during the day does kind of hose you initially because you do not regen but once you can make/buy regen gear or potions then it is no big deal. Before I became a vampire, I found that I was always having to wait 10+ hours when I wanted to sell because for some reason whenever my character reaches a town it is always night time. Even running around looking for stuff outside or heading to a dungeon it is inevitably night time. So the disadvantages of being outside in the day time are not that big of a deal for me. I guess I am just a vampire by heart and did not realize it.

Yep I made a Daywalker's pendant and ring for those moments when I get trapped in sunlight.
